Agree. I was very disappointed in Vance today. And up to this point, I have not been anti-Vance, all things considered. He's been influenced by the wrong people the past few years.
Embarrassing day for America. Worse for Ukraine. Great day for Putin and Russia though, so some posters in this thread are happy!

I didn't have any time to watch any of this yesterday, but just started watching the entire event.
The FIRST THING Zelensky literally, actually, truthfully says is "Thank you very much, Mr. President." Then he says "Thank you for the invitation."
That's really the first thing he says. If you haven't watched it yet and got caught up in the whole thank you thing, I suggest you go watch it now.

I prefer a less combative more professional and mature approach to things. I trend toward believing if you have to fight you've already lost. That said, there's plenty of reporting to demonstrate why they had at it with Zelensky. Is there some amount of funding that lets Ukraine win? If so, is Ukraine winning in our national interest? Is it a good ROI? Would US troops have to be deployed? Is Europe really (finally) step up and spend like it's supposed to? And most importantly, are there other ways to achieve our national interest?
I don't Trust Putin and I am absolutely not an isolationist. But I see no path forward where Ukraine wins or beats back Russia to retake its territory. And a massive Hell No to US boots on the ground.

They are asking Zelensky to acknowledge and thank them for the support America has given them to defend against Russia.
He challenged them directly about the effectiveness of US diplomacy, saying it has failed since Obama. Rude behavior to do that publicly when you are also asking for more support. And the irony was lost on Z…if US diplomacy under the last 3 administrations failed maybe it is time for a different approach. You know, like Trump is now advocating for.socaltownie said:Which he did at least 3 times. He just wasn't fawning.oski003 said:Haloski said:

I actually wonder if that was more a language thing.....since his main point wasn't that US diplomacy failed but rather that Putin doesn't keep his word and that diplomacy ALONE (if we take that to mean written agrements) will not stop the conflict.tequila4kapp said:He challenged them directly about the effectiveness of US diplomacy, saying it has failed since Obama. But seeing how deep the brainwashing on Russia and Ukraine goes is kind of amazing. These generally silent and demoralized little dummies rouse themselves to, of all things, perform their outrage about a conflict they don't even have the barest bit of a clue about beyond what they heard on CNN. These same dummies said nothing when Netanyahu got the most standing ovations in history in Congress, and they never have much to say about our alliance with Saudi Arabia, which committed a far more brutal campaign against its neighbor Yemen, than Putin has waged in Ukraine. The media has told them to care about the one and not the other, and never do these brainwashed puppets stop for a moment to ask, "Why?"

Look, he's in a very tough spot. He wants actual security assurances from the US because he doesn't trust Putin. Completely understandable. Except he is NEVER going to get it from this administration.
This was his 3rd chance to sign the rare earth deal, gain US economic interest in Ukraine and have European troops securing the peace. He insisted on coming to DC to sign the deal then went sideways on it again, this time publicly. Trump/Vance had enough. .
