Zelenskyy calls for an Air and Sea truce - as an Interim proposal for Ceasefire ahead of talks with U.S team in Saudi Arabia.

Zelensky's proposal for Russia to stop the air and sea combat operations - while simultaneously supporting frontline combat operations - is essentially an EU effort to maintain the fight by counteracting the Trump pressure point.

In the face of pressure from Trump - and with Russia saying no to ceasefire and also advancing in Kursk - he's trying.

Russia refusing a cease fire and advancing on Kursk … Trump HAS to pivot and apply pressure on Russia or help Ukraine.

From the Ukrainian channel RezidentUA:

Our source in the General Staff reports that Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region are being destroyed as some of their best units attempt to retreat without ordersonly to end up in kill zones. Once again, Syrsky failed to issue a timely withdrawal order despite requests from field commanders and the worsening tactical encirclement. Supply routes have been under fire for a week, and bridges have been destroyed. Today alone, nearly a thousand troops have been lost, along with a hundred pieces of equipment. The battle in Kursk is turning into a meat grinder.

Thanks, and nice post.

My grandfather was hard to kill. Denis Leary has a quote about men of that generation that comes to mind:

"Men who drank and fought and puked and ate raw meat right off the bone and drank some more and fought some more and puked again and kept on drinking. Men who died of massive heart attacks or sudden brain seizures or who just plain f@ucking blew up. Men who had cancer six or seven times. Men made of leather."

Cheers.

That description fits to a T a close family friend who was a WW1 vet and lived past 100 years. He spent several weeks stuck into a huge crater half-filled with muddy water, his squad was pinned down by heavy German artillery and machine gun fire.

Well, Denis Leary's quote was well received here so I'll drop the full quote on youses:

"I pine for the sheer stupidity of the old macho days, when men would brandish hammers and build huge, bulky cars that sucked up gas and tore open the ozone layer and crushed small animals beneath totally useless but totally cool-looking tailfins. When men were apes with good shoes and a dental plan. John Wayne, John Huston, Bill Holden, Bob Mitchum, Clark Gable, Babe Ruth, Lee Marvin, Sam Peckinpah. Men who drank and fought and puked and ate raw meat right off the bone and drank some more and fought some more and puked again and kept on drinking. Men who died of massive heart attacks or sudden brain seizures or who just plain f@ucking blew up. Men who had cancer six or seven times. Men made of leather."

Lord Bebo has been very much on target wrt the Ukraine war. The Atlantic on the other hand is the current-day NATO version of Pravda, their narrative is now falling apart.

The other sources above don't cover Ukraine much.

That I think is the biggest issue. Trump SUCKS at Game Theory. I mean REALLY sucks at it.

You can not threaten and then back down. You lose credibility which means the NEXT time you threaten the other guy doesn't think you mean it.

And it isn't just Ukraine. His tariffs flip flopping is a ****ing disaster and is sowing chaos. I know in my own small business (and personal fiinances) we are pulling back till we get clarity and some stability.

The actual story rather than stupid right-wing style of "argument" is a lot more complicated.

What specifically is your tweeter asking for? We had been publicly finding Ukraine since 2014 (and covertly prior), so the first time it lasted almost 11 years. I can't speak for how long we will continue to do so.

I think what people are saying is that some disruptive behavior is fine, especially when it has some semblance of underlying order and purpose. But if it is just discord for discords sake then it does actual damage to our economy and ability to implement policy going forward.

What's stupid is calling the winner of an election "a figure from the extreme fringe of Romanian politics."
Shades of Russia Russia Russia.
In any case, it's hilarious to watch authoritarians clutch their peals over Russian election interference when you had the British Labour Party on the ground openly politicking for Harris just a few months ago. Or the CIA/Soros Maidan coup. The US rigs elections all the time, and they use a heckuva a lot more than Tiktok to do it.

The UK, EU and NATO partners launch a "massive wave" of drone attacks against Moscow

The attack comes, predictably, as Team Trump envoys arrive in Saudi Arabia for preliminary face-to-face talks with Ukraine officials. The pattern repeats itself.

Every time ate diplomats meet w Russia or Ukraine, the intelligence apparatus in control of the NATO proxy war triggers an escalating disruption targeting Russia.

Hopefully Putin doesn't take the bait.

Some argue that the EU and NATO must also suffer strong geopolitical consequences.

Drone wave strikes on random Moscow civilians are increasing the chance of Russia moving to the Dniepr. They will at the very least require that Ukraine be demilitarized.

Tucker Carlson just interviewed Colonel MacGregor. I only listened to 15 minutes. MacGregor claims we have extremely limited ammunition and missile supplies ourselves - I believe he said maybe a week to ten days. (Which means we threw everything at Russia.)

MacGregor seemed ominous.

86% of Poles want them to stay out of it. "The only thing the French army can do is go on safari in Africa."

Trump's instincts are good. If we get into a war, we will have multiple enemies. China, BRICS, Iran. Stay out of war. "We'll be buried by conventional weapons."

Netanyahu wants to drag us into war (Iran).

Please explain how losing tens of thousands of troops and a crapload of tanks and equipment makes a military stronger. And, yes, Russia had built up a whole bunch of ammunition, but now a lot of that is buried in Ukrainian soil. Are they going to dig it up and recycle it?

Maybe Russia is stronger in the sense that they saw how screwed up they were in 2022-23 and are able to make adjustments for the future... to be less incompetent.

Call me crazy, but I still favor NATO over Russia.

The Russians have lost tens of thousands of troops, and added hundreds of thousands who are now trained in 21st century warfare. They produce 4 million shells/yr and produce/refurbish 2,000 tanks/yr. Most of the perception of Russian incompetence boils down to western cultural hubris.

NATO's military strength is rooted in its air force, which is largely ineffective against Russia's air defenses.

Russia now:

- has a 1.3 M man trained, experienced military; not classes or video games, actual warfare
- overcame their weak spot in drone technology
- robust manufacturing now even stronger
- alliance w Iran
- alliance w North Korean manufacturers who have shipped massive numbers of containers to the front lines
- meanwhile, MacGregor says even the US stockpile - tapped out by Israel and Ukraine '- is threadbare
- Russia now has midrange 'escalatory dominance' with their hypersonic missiles - which we can't stop. They're now experimenting with mission-specific modifications
- Europe can't provide manpower or ammunition
- you favor NATO for what? Targeting?
