At the current rate, what's the realistic time frame that Ukraine could continue having its men slaughtered?

Cal88

I would guess 1 to 2 years, another 500,000-1,000,000 men. At that point there will still be many men left, but I doubt their morale will hold up.

" The UK, France and Ukraine have just signed a Declaration of Intent to deploy forces to Ukraine in event of a peace deal"

So they will only send troops once the war is over. If they wanted to help so badly, why not send troops while the fighting is still on going?

Because Ukraine wants some kind of guarantee they won't be invaded again.

NATO being in Ukraine is one of the main reasons the war has been going on in the first place.

A treaty which that puts NATO troops in Ukraine "after the war ends" pretty much guarantees that the war does not end and Russia keeps driving towards Kiev and killing Ukrainian soldiers by the hundreds of thousands - and that is the point of such a political exercise by the EU.

IMO Putin was going to invade anyway and uses all of this as an excuse.

That's not my point. My point is, don't offer troops unless you're actually gonna help with the fighting. It's performative

Well, at the moment they are also funding Ukraine's military effort. Obviously these countries would prefer to not get their own militaries directly involved in a hot war.

Of course and I'm not faulting them for that.

I'm faulting them for the falsehood of that announcement actually meaning anything in terms of helping Ukraine right now.

Russia claims Ukraine attempted to hit a Putin residence, and yesterday Russia replied with drones, missiles, and possibly just one Hazel (Oreshnik) missile. (It can carry up to 36 sub missiles.)

They allegedly targeted a large fuel storage, and military production. Apparently struck several cities, including Lviv and Kyiv. 6,000 buildings without power and temps are at -10 degrees.

Here are one set of clips from the use of Hazel. Some speculate this was also a warning for NATO (the unexpected use of Hazel).

Many in Eastern Ukraine wanted liberation, to be able to speak their own language and attend their own church.

Many Russians are aware that the EU / NATO want to break them up and chisel away at their national resources.

But I guess when you're trying to hype up the Ukraine side of the war, a defense contractor who sells autonomous AI weapons and deals in virtual reality is the best some folks can do.

This guy is literally the face of the MIC, Palmer has made millions from the Ukraine war. His net worth is dependent on the credulity of the general public in taking his brand of war propaganda at face value.

The statement about the Russian soldier packing 50 condoms is very similar to that made about Gaddafi soldiers in Libya being pumped with viagra in order to commit mass rapes, pretty stupid propaganda for gullible public.

Tech Times, not sure if this is true:

"Russian forces have reportedly seized full control of the strategic Shevchenko lithium deposit in the Donetsk region, a move that deals a catastrophic blow to the recently negotiated U.S.-Ukraine critical minerals agreement. This specific mine was a centerpiece of President Zelensky's proposal to the Trump administration, intended to help Ukraine reimburse the United States for billions in military aid by granting exclusive access to its vast natural resources.

"The Shevchenko field is one of the largest lithium deposits in Europe, often referred to as "white gold" for its essential role in electric vehicle batteries and defense technology. Its capture by Russian troops effectively nullifies a key component of the "pay back" deal signed in 2025, which relied on these specific assets to generate revenue for the U.S. Treasury.

"Analysts view this seizure as a calculated "resource coup" by Vladimir Putin, designed not just for territorial gain but to physically dismantle Ukraine's economic value to the West. By taking the mine before the U.S. could operationalize the agreement, Moscow has secured a critical supply chain asset while leaving Washington with a "paper deal" that no longer has a physical asset to back it up."

That field is located in the Donetsk oblast, in the Donbas, and was already claimed by Russia, and not in play, unless people thought Ukraine was going to hold on to the Donbas.

There is another field in central Ukraine that was recently awarded to Trump friend and billionaire Ronald Lauder:

Trump is not going to end the war in Ukraine because only Putin can end it, and he doesn't want to.

He's been wanting to end it all along, on his terms:
-Neutrality/demilitarization for Ukraine
-Rights for Russian and other minorities
-Keeps the Donbas
-Gets confiscated Russian funds back (would use a good chunk of it to rebuild Ukraine)

He's only going to end it if he gets control of Ukraine and/or its government.

Or if he can't keep it going because Russia's economy just won't stand it anymore.

Those are the two scenarios.

The EU, NATO, CIA and MIC want the war for various reasons. With directors coming and going, who really runs the CIA? NATO embarrassed by their defeat, and the EU appears to desperately want to (pretend to be) relevant. The war probably also detracts from their own massive internal problems, not sure if it removes EU caps / requirements. Then there's graft. Germany is retracting in 75% of its budiness sectors, with only military-related industries growing. So we can see their mixed motivation. The MIC spends money in the EU. I've read first-hand accounts from Europe of obnoxious, corpulent showy spending by Ukranians... gee, I wonder where that sudden cash infusion came from?

Normally I wouldn't bother, but "I don't think about you at all" from a guy who regularly replies to me and talks s*** even when I'm not engaging with him in the slightest was just too much to let slide. Give me a break.

Disagree with me all you want, but don't tell me you don't care about what I say when you clearly do.
