*I will never pass up the opportunity. Never. Not once. I get the instinctual feeling that within 10 seconds of shaking hands with that guy and surveying the road kill on his head, you would sense you are in the presence of a weasel. One can only imagine the contents of the dossier Trump has on him (..and guys like Lindsey Graham).

USAID has largely been a foreign policy instrument of political pressure and regime change. People like Samantha Power don't give a crap about the massacre of tens of thousands of Palestinians.

It's the exact opposite, but you wouldn't know, as you have the understanding of foreign policy of a teenager watching a Hollywood production.

That is the reason you never post any content that is relevant to this conflict or any other foreign policy issue.

Is the war over? Trump assured us it would take 24 hours. I think time is up.

It's the first serious attempt at ending the war, but you're not interested in the subject itself, lowbrow tribal mudslinging is all you're capable of.

I'm interested in the fact that so many allegedly intelligent people believed him when he said it, and are now making excuses for why he hasn't fulfilled his promise.

It was a stupid claim, that no one with half a brain cell believed. Which explains why so many conservatives lapped it right up.

He lies about everything, and MAGA believed it all. I look forward to all the spin to come in explanation for all the other lies -er- broken campaign promises (003 prefers this euphemism).

There's nothing preventing you from donating to other public and private organizations, non-profits, and NGO's to help foreign countries. And USAID isn't what you think it is. It's just a way for the Deep State to meddle in other countries under the guise of foreign aid.

" When Hunter S. Thompson wrote about Nixon, he was responding to a man he saw as symbolic of his time, a kind of monster of his age. Nixon's personality represented this darkness that was at the heart of everything wrong with America at the time. And Trump is an equivalent figure in that way. But he's not the same kind of person as Nixon. Nixon had many levels to his personality; he was a thinker, well-educated, a schemer. Trump is just a bundle of disorganized urges. He's what a lot of Americans would be if they had a billion dollars: They'd build grotesque castles, bang models, and grow fat."

We have killed tens of thousands of kids just in Gaza last year. What kind of hypocrisy is it to decry a potential reduction in a couple of food trucks when we have shipped to Israel the equivalent of 3 Hiroshima bombs?

The best aid the US could do is to stop f****** bombing and overthrowing dozens of countries around the world, that would be a monumental gift to the world.

He obviously wasn't going to end the war in one day, and the chances he will in the next 6 months is something like 1 in 3, mostly because the warmongers in DC which you support will spin any settlement as appeasement to Russia. But at least there is a change in policy towards trying to stop the war vs feeding the slaughter to the last Ukrainian which Biden, Blinken, Nuland Graham et al have been pursuing because they don't give a damn about the 700,000 Ukrainian soldiers who have died in their war, or the several hundred thousand more who are going to die until the Russians arrive in Kiev.

I'm certainly more of a dove than a hawk, but I can't help thinking that, a generation ago, many right-wing politicians had served in the military, or at least their fathers had. Now, less so, which would seem to explain their new isolationism.

I'm not sure that "stop all foreign aid" must necessarily follow from "stop wars," but you do you.

Les than 10% of USAID funding goes to humanitarian aid. Where does the rest of the 90% plus go to? Their budget is larger than the State Department.

Deflection and goal post moving. Vintage 88.

Add the assumption I support war mongers (coming from a full throated supporter of Putin) and it is impossible to take anything you say seriously.

You're just a pseudo intellectual Eurosnob.

If this were actually their problem, then Rand Paul and Matt Walsh should say "Let's make sure the money actually gets to where it should" and not "Abolish all foreign aid." These are two very different things.

I'm not sure if people in DC are ready to have an open discussion about USAID. Some important questions are bound to come up.

Yes, this is going to change the outcome of the war.

Will we also provide the cannon fodder to keep the one-sided massacre going? I guess they could step up their rounds and abduct a few thousand more hapless Ukrainian men in city streets...
