^Orthodox easter break.

Zelensky refused a Christmas truce earlier this year (Ortho. Xmas is Jan. 6), so that is a positive development.

Let's kick it up to a 32 year ceasefire. Find a way to negotiate the end of this war.

Doesn't Z risk getting booted out, and possibly jailed and or killed, when the war ends?

I don't know about jailed/killed, but he may be voted out of the presidency. Ukraine would have to actually support democracy and hold elections first.

Review of how the war started (2014), Obama administration, and all 5 department heads in Ukraine were run by neo Nazis?

On an earlier segment they claim Zelensky was low in the polls, hadn't debated, yet got 75% of the vote. Who tabulated their votes?

When Zelensky recently dropped the age for the draft from 23 to 18, young men flooded to the borders.

Guest calls it the greatest propoganda war ever. 15 minutes, much a rehash.

Shocking stat, Ukrainian border troops shoot men trying to flee the country. More Ukrainian men have been killed trying to escape from Ukraine the last few months than East Germans trying to flee in the entire history of the DDR.

You know there is a case that it's justifiable for them to do this, if you live in a nation of laws, you are expected as a man to fight for your home. I mean in the United States we all agree to fight for our nation at 18 if called up. That said, Ukraine (and Russia) and many places in Europe and the USA are fraught with corruption and so the working class is looking at that and asking themselves is it worth dying for? I would still say yes, because when an invading army comes to your country, they are looking to take over all decision making.

The ironic thing is all these "New Europeans" that try to establish residency within the EU and UK, polls consistently show they will not fight for their home. Their militaries are almost all native population and small in size and underfunded. I will say, the United States in general we seem to get more immigrants willing to fight if called but that number is shrinking.

There have been internet rumors that countries like Germany feel they are in a bind if the USA military Daddy pulls out, how do they train young Germany men in the use of weapons if so many German Muslins have mixed allegiances?

The decision-making in Ukraine has already been taken over by the Maidan Coup in 2014. The population voted for Zelensky because he campaigned on a peace with Russia and settlement with the Donbas and Ukrainian minorities, before doing a 180.

There is no real military threat on Germany, UK or France, only wars of choice in distant lands imposed by NATO. The same has been true of the US since the Korean War at the very least.

Ironically enough, the only people in Germany or France who would be willing to fight the current designated enemy, Russia, would be Foreign Legion mercenary types from Africa or Latin America who will fight in exchange for an EU citizenship.

Russia annexed Crimea peacefully, through a referendum, which, along with several other independent westen polls confirmed that the overwhelming part of Crimeans did not want anything to do with the post-Maidan Kiev government, which does not recognize their language and cultural heritage, and which cut off Crimea's water supply out of sheer spite, dumping their aqueduct freshwater into the Black Sea.

The Kiev government tried to bomb the Donbas into submission for nearly 8 years, Ukr president Poroshenko boasting about Donbas children having to grow up cowering in their basements.

According to the 2014 census by occupation authorities, 84% of Crimean inhabitants named Russian as their native language; 7.9% named Crimean Tatar; 3.7% Tatar and 3.3% Ukrainian.

If the predominant native language is going to be criteria, I guess we better give South Texas back to Mexico.

It's a bit different in the old world. Try banning Basque in Spain or Flemish in Belgium and see what happens.

The referendum came after Russian troops (originally denying they were Russian, but now it's pretty much admitted they were) seized a bunch of military and government buildings at gunpoint. No one got to vote on secession before the occupation had already started. That's not peaceful. A referendum vote held AFTER Russia already took over the territory cannot be considered valid or trustworthy.

I don't care about what language people speak or what random people on the street say, that doesn't prove anything about a legitimate process.

That is the problem, your take is very naive and misinformed, largely based on negative stereotypes about Russians.

You never address basic facts like
  • the several independent polls confirming the overwhelming support of Crimeans for Russia
  • the fact that they're overwhelmingly ethnically Russian and russophones, and that Crimea has been Russian since the 1700s
  • Crimea has been thriving economically since joining Russia, especially after the Russian army restored the water canal that was previously diverted into the sea by the Kiev regime out of pure spite.
  • Crimea was never occupied, because most of the Ukrainian garrison stationed there in 2014 were locals who switched allegiance.
You also have no idea about what really went on in other parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, the burning alive of nearly 50 local unarmed pro-Russia protestors in Odessa in May of 2014, the Kiev regime sending its tanks and air force to quash locals in Mariupol, the indiscriminate bombing of the largest city in the Donbas, Donetsk, which went on for nearly 10 years.

You're just as oblivious to all of these facts as you are to the horrendous daily forced conscription of Urkainian middle aged men, as if this was a normal wartime thing.

So you're basically saying because it used to be Russia and things are going well that it was okay for Russia to take over before the referendum?

None of what you said, besides maybe your last bullet point (if true), makes it any more okay for Russia to more or less take over Crimea before a referendum was voted on. If a poll or two showed New England citizens favored England over the US, you'd be good with England coming in and saying it's ours now?
