Robert Reich while eating his organic pastrami at Saul's offers another useless observation on Americans political life.

Cheney voted with Trump 94% of the time so does Reich draw the line at Trumpism or Trump. He appears fine with Cheney's support of Trump's agenda but Trump's agenda is what liberals and Reich have been hysterically proclaiming as the collapse of democracy.. so 94% of Trump is fine as long as it is "principled."

Cheney' constituents- heavily Trump- would normally approve of a 94% level of support. What they don't approve of is her joining an informercial against the guy they support with his political enemies. That's a fatal distrust of your constituents wishes for which she will soon be unemployed.

Reich said, " ... her views on countless substantive issues are the opposite of mine ... ". So he appears to draw the line at Trump, while still disagreeing with Trumpism.

You don't think more Republicans should renounce Trump? I do. At the risk of using one of the trite expressions du jour, it seems like we might be approaching an existential crisis.

This is a woman who supports torture, the trumped up war in Iraq, opposed the withdrawal in Afghanistan, supported West Bank Annexation by Israel, opposes accommodation with Iran and instead advocates military strikes. And, oh yeah, she defends Obama birthers because "people are uncomfortable with a president who is reluctant to defend the nation overseas".[1 Dies Reich think any of this is principled?

Bush- Cheney were much worse than Trump and their crimes - of which this a paltry sampling- have received a universal pass. There is is no existential crisis.

This is pretty spot on. MSNBC executives are desperate to move their network to the right - which is why more of their coverage is from the establishment right than anything else.

People going all googly about somebody passing up the chance to be a successful fascist is a low bar.

If that's the kind of politician Robert Reich loves to praise, it kind of makes you wonder about his competence and judgment as a public policy professor.

Famous people have many avenues to wealth in America. I don't like Liz Cheney at all but these kinds of attacks are stupid. Famous politicians on both sides of the aisle enrich themselves. Attacking only your enemies for it is just partisanship. The real crime in this country is what is legal for powerful people.

This does not excuse those who engage in criminal conduct to enrich themselves. For example, Trump funneling money from his inauguration to himself. Or Congressman TJ Cox committing fraud (though I wouldn't call him famous).
