I noticed you making many mocking posts like these (often without context or your own perspective since you probably don't want to do the dirty work of actually using your own words to mock others). There are only two reasons you do this:

1. By mocking about half of your fellow Americans, you feel better about yourself. You don't mock the other half since you need a place to set your pedestal. An easy way to feel superior that has nothing to do with you. Same key driver for bullies, racists, other bigots, etc. Rise in your own mind by pushing down others.

2. You are concerned that 50 percent of your fellow Americans are coming to this unfortunate conclusion from behaviors you would like to promote. I don't think there is a right answer if China ever decided to invade Taiwan. We are not dealing with a country like Russia. Our economy would shut down if we shut down China. We would not have medicine, batteries, electronics, manufacturing, etc. They could also engage in better cyberattacks. And China has a better naval force than we do. And more manpower if we need to put boots on the ground. And what Asian country will really risk their existence by going to war with China? What are your thoughts? Maybe some snide post or someone's else thoughts passing as your thoughtful consideration? Maybe scare them from invading by cutting more of the military budget?

I don't think there is a right answer if China ever decided to invade Taiwan. We are not dealing with a country like Russia. Our economy would shut down if we shut down China. You didn't ask me but I will answer. I would offer a fast track to US citizenship for taiwanese people and recruit everyone who has any knowledge based career in semiconductors from there.

We aren't going to stop China from taking Taiwan if that's what they ultimately want to do and unlike Russia they are a true military power with the resources to achieve their desired outcome. When you factor in our reliance on China for imports and exports, no US president is going to go to war with China, regardless of their human rights violations. Unless they attack US citizens in a US territory, we won't have boots on the ground.

I think all of the gamesmanship right now is designed to slow them down so that we can get up to speed on building chips domestically (or at least I hope so) and to make China realize it will be a little bit harder than an annexation but we aren't really going to make it WWIII.

This is quite a bit different from China because unlike Ukraine, Taiwan isn't a stepping stone to another land grab and doesn't pose a threat to any of our other allies.

Taking Taiwan will impair our ability to access semi-conductors. We need the infrastructure that is in Taiwan in addition to the brain power. We need to bring that manufacturing back to the US (CHIPS is a good start) for national security. I think China wants Taiwan not only for electronic materials but also to have more control over the waters, and that would put pressure on our allies, but they are not looking to take over Japan or Korea.

Agreed - we need the infrastructure but unlike the london bridge we aren't going to move TSMC's fabs over brick by brick.

The CHIPS act is a good start and companies are increasing investment - I certainly don't think we should be putting ourselves in a position where we need to fight a war with China over Taiwan's fabs.

I 100% agree that he should have complied with the police. I am not excusing him. I am wondering why the standard changes for you depending on what color and political party is involved, especially when on is dealing with a doctor helping someone in medical stress and the other is in relation to criminal behavior? Why is it OK for you to say this now and then when Oski003 says it in another situation, he is a racist?

Please be guided by principle and be consistent instead of moving the goal post depending on which political party is involved.
