First saw it as a kid when it was the summer replacement for The Jackie Gleason Show in '68. The series was repeated when I was in law school on KQED.

I remember that in Canada they taught a college course on it. I ordered some of the class materials. Patrick McGoohan said he found it humorous how people thought it was so heavy with multiple levels of meaning. Patrick and one or two other guys wrote all the episodes over a three day weekend.*

*Edit: Only the series finale was written over a weekend.

Well, I'm watching that McGoohan interview that I posted and Patrick said he and his writers wrote outlines for 10 of the 17 episodes in a weekend.

NORAD has "adjusted" their radar filters to spot smaller, slower, objects after the Chinese balloon drifted over the U.S.

Hence, more object being spotted.

Here's why mysterious flying objects are suddenly popping up all over the place, according to the military command that's been shooting them down (yahoo.com)

Outlines are very different than scripts. That is just sketching out story arc. And the idea had been in his head and others for years before. So its not like they smoked pot and banged out a whole series in a weekend and its all half-assed BS.

This is quite humorous and revealing. First of all, I said nothing about Trump. You did. Revealing point no. 1.

Then you proceed to explain why Trump really was deserving of all the personal animus and ad hominem you and others heaped on him, but Biden is not - because you like Biden. Biden deserves respect for the office, but Trump (and Bush, and Reagan, and any republican) do not. You're literally making my point.

It is possible that both: (i) Biden's policies are better than Trumps (your position, not mine); and (ii) Biden is senile, soft on China and weak on foreign policy in general. You accuse me of being tribal, yet you and others here simply refuse to acknowledge any of (ii) despite the fact that Biden can barely function. I'm the tribal one?

And Biden has been incredibly divisive, particularly in regards to race and culture issues. Using the state of the union to falsely claim republicans want to cut social security and Medicare is about as divisive as it gets.

And in terms of rhetoric, maybe you should be less of a hypocrite?

Here you are calling republicans stupid and lacking in morals: https://bearinsider.com/forums/6/topics/109056/replies/2024847

And here you are calling DeSantis a "idiot jerk-pig"
https://bearinsider.com/forums/6/topics/107733/replies/1995947

And here you are calling republicans "blind, dishonest and/or brainwashed"
https://bearinsider.com/forums/6/topics/107332/replies/1988063

You have a posting history of calling out conservative posters on this board for their rhetoric, memes, and/or posting you find unbecoming in some fashion - as you have done to me here. And you like to call people hypocrites as well, which is funny.

This is an off topic board ON A SPORTS WEBSITE. People will post memes and engage in all manner of rhetoric. My calling Biden a cuck is pretty tame by the standards of this board. Yet you call only me and other conservatives out while excusing yourself and your tribe.

I'll just say you'd have a lot more credibility if: (i) you didn't engage in this same behavior yourself; and (ii) you called out any of the liberals who do engage in this same behavior on this board - which is rampant. But I'm the tribal one. LOL.

...and right on cue you go scouring to find false equivalence.

You have a litany false claims there:

1) I explained WHY Trump gets more attacked and name called. Because that is his brand and what he does to others. That is an observation and it is accurate.

2) I did not say that Rep presidents do not deserve respect. You completely manufactured that.

3) Biden is not divisive on race and culture. That's not how it works. When those with hegemony are threatened by discussion of equality, it is not the minority who is being divisive. It is those in power threatened by losing power who FEEL that they are being attacked. ACTUALLY being attacked is what Trump and the GOP and white supremacists do. A Christian is not, for example, under attack when something is made secular or all religions are treated the same. But the Christian sees this as being attacked and something being stolen.

4) First link I didn't call all Republicans stupid and lacking morals. I was specifically describing people who stand with amoral behavior ( a specific subset of Republicans that celebrated the worst in Trump) that way.

5) Second link. Yes, I did call De Santis an idiot jerk pig which isn't really a thing and is sorta a goofy insult. Not mean spirited or a talking point of the tribe the way senile cuck is. And, last time I checked De Santis isn't president. So there is that...

6) Third link. Wrong again. The sentence is "A person needs to be completely blind, dishonest, and/or brainwashed to not see the long con." That is not calling Republicans blind, dishonest, and brainwashed. That is me describing ONE person and that person is a person who believes the long con that I describe. Again, my analysis/observation on a tribal cognitive dissonant behavior not an insult or accusation of all GOP.

So, of the 6 or so claims, one is sort of correct but not really. How about instead of venting or or reaching for the whataboutism to justify your ugliness, just be a big boy yourself.
This is a remarkable rationalization for why you think its ok for you to engage in the same type of rhetoric that you criticized me for.

Biden is not divisive and attacking his political opponents - it is just the way people react to him. Jerk pig is funny and goofy. But Senile cuck is MEAN MEAN MEAN. Seriously? Do you even believe what you're typing? LMAO.

I note you're not in any other threads on this site calling out liberals for their "mean spirited talking points" rhetoric (including a thread where people were making fun of Sarah Huckabee Sanders looks and weight). Just here to criticize someone who is not in your tribe. It is not "false equivalence" to expect you to be consistent. You're being a complete hypocrite.

The problem is I didn't and I didn't.

Tell me in all honesty, without diversion to "my hypocrisy" or any other change of subject, you think it is perfectly reasonable and respectable that you called President Biden a senile cuck? I know you don't really think it is and that's the point.

Some years ago a project I was working on required a high altitude object to fly eastward over the United States from over the Pacific Ocean. When you do things like that you need to get permission from the Air Force so we had some interactions with them.

What we learned, which is not really surprising if you think about it, is that most of the large radar arrays are fixed and pointed towards the Pacific. Once an object passes over them there aren't any powerful radars tracking objects at high altitude over the interior of the United States.

Now that was some years ago so things may have changed but I think most of the radar arrays are still fixed and I doubt any new ones have been built in the US interior. It may be part of the reason these balloons are hard to track.

Does anyone else think maybe these balloons have been going on weekly or daily for years and years?

Maybe we've been being spied upon in a new way for years and have had no clue.

Is it possible that this is a much bigger issue than just some random oddity?

I dont believe that it is a random oddity at all.
It's been going on for awhile and our intelligence community has literally admitted that they've been slow to the ball.

I heard Kyle Bass on CNBC this morning talk about gravitational "sensors" that could have been mapping our underground ICBM missile architecture.. They werent weather sensors.

I think he makes some good points about the USA (and Wall Street) needing to wake the f-up!

Wall Street must wake up to the national security threats from China, says Capital's Kyle Bass (cnbc.com)

Kyle Bass is a hysterical China hawk, captain Ahab-level of obsession. This obsession has spilled over to his money management career, resulting in heavy losses. From wiki:

Quote:

Chinese banking collapse

Starting in July 2015, Bass made a multiyear bet against the Chinese yuan based on a predicted banking collapse in China. Bass closed out his position against the Chinese currency in early 2019 when the predicted devaluation of the currency did not occur.

Bass argued in 2015 that the Chinese banking system was undercapitalized and it's foreign reserves would be insufficient in a crisis. Bass predicted a hard landing for the Chinese economy following a bank crisis and a severe devaluation of the Chinese currency, variously given as "somewhere between 15%-20%" and "30 to 40 percent."

Hayman suffered its worst year in 2017, with a loss of 19% due to the strengthening of the Chinese yuan.[24] Bass thinks any trade deal with China must include enforcement mechanisms against intellectual property theft for the U.S. to benefit from it truly. He argued that China signed a special memorandum of understanding in 2013 that companies don't have to do audits or be Dodd-Frank compliant. He is against banning or delisting Chinese companies, but he does support them having to meet the same regulations as U.S. companies. While serving on the Board of UTIMCO in 2018, Bass helped create a set of guidelines compelling its external managers to divest from companies with ties to entities sanctioned by the United States.

If it had actually been a spy balloon (which is stupid on its face - nobody needs balloons for spying when spy satellites exist), the obvious thing to do would have been to capture and study it. The reason you blow it up is so nobody ever gets to find out how full of shyte you were.

Both Republicans and Democrats look equally stupid over this one, but not as much as the people who fell for the "There were three spy balloons during the Trump administration and he did nothing about them" propaganda. Those are the dumbest people of all.

I don't know how high these balloons were flying but the Air Force had the capability to recover capsules returning from space via parachute using a system of hooks and wires attached to a C-130 as part of the CORONA program.
