Clearly HB 543 did not go into effect fast enough to save lives.

Yeah. And all the good guys with guns always seem to be at a different mall in Texas when a crazy ammosexual decides he needs to exercise his 2A rights.

Texas and Florida have become the $h1tholes that tRump had complained so much about.
This just in: Republicans find another whistleblower who claims Hillary's emails were proven to be on Hunter's laptop while Obama spied on tRump as he sat (shat?) upon his golden toilet. Gym Jordan afraid whistle blower may be in danger of abduction by aliens in cahoots with Democrats.

Well, they sort of always were.

And when they finally start to vote blue they will blame their problems on an influx of Dems from other states instead of their decades of poor leadership.

On another board I follow, there's a guy from Nashville that posts angry screeds weekly about how all the people from California moving to Nashville are ruining everything there. No mention of the local politicians failing to improve the infrastructure to keep up with the growth.

He also posts stuff about how San Francisco's massive decline and imminent demise despite having never been to the Bay Area in a few decades. Also, he was a failed sports reporter and worked for the Colorado Athletic Department for a time about 30 years ago, so he claims to have the inside scoop about the PAC-12 which he's been claiming will collapse in a week or two since last summer. It's basically the SEC/Big 12 spin on things.

My buddy from Cal -- farthest to the left of all my friends -- who settled in Nashville 30 years ago, has been at work subtly subverting the system for a long time.

If any of you follow Cal Football (okay, that was a subtle dig), everybody over on the football boards is complaining that we can't win this fall because our Pac 12 schedule is gonna be so tough. Then, at the same time, the Pac 12 is about to collapse because they suck in football. Can both be true?!?

The nice thing about folks leaving California is that for the most part we are exporting our malcontents, underachievers, and right wing nut jobs. They can go be malcontent in their new locale. I am already hearing it from people who moved out of state including one who moved to Knoxville who complains about how backward things are there.

I am sort of glad that these people are self-identifying and moving out while at the same time slanting the politics of their new states leftward because even a conservative Republican from California is a liberal compared to most people in Tennessee.

It's a win-win.

Most of the people I know that move out of California do it because they can't afford to live here and it has zero to do with politics.

It's not so much about not affording California, it's that your money goes much further outside of California.

Not my experience but I can see how that would be true.

In my experience the people are already settled here (homeowners for decades) and they say something like "I just had to get out of California" or "I just can't stand it here anymore" which is code for politics. They might mention homeless, taxes, illegal immigration, or some other right wing talking points just to confirm my suspicions.

Then they move to Texas or North Carolina or Ohio or South Dakota or Tennessee or something like that to drive the point home although some have moved to Colorado which elected Lauren Boebert twice so maybe isn't as purple as we like to think.

If you are going to blame the whole state for a district voting for a representative, ignoring that Colorado has elected senators who are both Democrats, you do know that our state also elected McCarthy and previously Nunes.

Yes, and while I disagree with their politics I think they are good representatives for their districts.

Lauren Boebert is a farce who should not be allowed anywhere near Washington, DC.

Nunes was a joke and a sycophant for his Trump overlord. McCarthy was a reasonable lieutenant for the moderate Boehner. Then he became ambitious and sold his soul to MGT

Yes, moving is expensive. Most could stay, but want to stretch money.

Most hate the new places they land at, but probably because they are malcontents and underachievers looking to place blame on where they live

"The U.S. has just endured the deadliest six months of mass killings since at least 2006, AP reports.

From Jan. 1 to June 30, the nation endured 28 mass killings (four or more killed, not counting the assailant).

27 of the 28 involved guns. The other was a fire that killed four in a home in Monroe, La. A 37-year-old man was charged with arson and murder.

A database maintained by AP and USA Today, in partnership with Northeastern University, tracks this violence back to 2006.

James Alan Fox, a criminology professor at Northeastern who has been tracking crime data for 45+ years, said: "We used to say there were two to three dozen a year. The fact that there's 28 in half a year is a staggering statistic."

What's happening: Experts attribute the rising bloodshed to a growing population with an increased number of guns in the U.S.

Yet for all the headlines, mass killings are statistically rare and represent a fraction of the country's overall gun violence."

From the Facebook page for Schemengees Bar and Grill posted 6 hours ago:

INDUSTRY NIGHT TONIGHT!!
You work in the bar/restaurant industry?
You get 25% off your bill !!!!

That may have brought in a larger crowd and contributed to the death toll. What a damn shame that a released mental patient with a history of hallucinations and death threats never had his firearms taken away (at least that's what I've read).

I'll be the first to admit some Republicans lose their minds when you suggest reasonable gun laws...like making it as hard to get a gun as it is to get a driver's license.
