Yes because this trial was about defamation. The sexual assault trial was already completed and so debates about it were barred in the defamation trial.

Don't you understand, tRump has his surrogates repeat a lie that he makes up, and then tRump keeps repeating the lie ad nauseum so that the small section of his base that likes to believe that they are good and honest people have something to cling to.

For the majority of his America hating base, they actually revel in the fact that tRump is as evil as they are and he doesn't have to justify any of his misconduct for them. The worse, the better, and the stronger the support that flows from the heinous conduct.

Occasionally his surrogates will renounce a tRump lie that they have repeated at his behest, like Melania Lite just did, because they don't want to get sanctioned, disbarred or sued, and in extreme cases, be found criminally guilty and go to the hoosegow.

A DA charging the Republican lead presidential candidate and then appointing as special prosecutor someone she is having an affair with is nobody's business and proof our system is broken. Got it. Lol.

Until the entirely legitimate legal issues related to potential misconduct and conflict of interest are resolved the relationship is literally the exact opposite of "nobody's business."

RBG famously was anti-recusal, even on cases where she had an active personal connection to one of the parties. Thurgood Marshall abdicated / proxied his vote on cases involving legal issues he didn't care about to Brennan. The only thing that has changed with SCOTUS is which party's nominees have the majority.

I will agree the court system is broken in that Reid's decision to eliminate the filibuster ushered in the modern era of judicial extremism and mistrust of the courts. Truly atrocious decision.

The strategy is about delay and change. If Willis is removed that means her entire office is removed. It takes time to transfer the case, bring the new people up to speed...and they may decide the case is not worthy of prosecuting.
