Without proof of what is true or false with regard to what each is spouting, the entire exercise is futile.
And there will never be any agreement regarding what the truth is since all fact checking organizations are called liars.
DeSantis continually screaming "That's a lie! He's lying! Liar!" is a very poor debating technique. It has a real 10 year old on the playground vibe.
*Boy, that $700M settlement Fox News agreed to have really dried up advertising money. Every other commercial is some Evangelical pitch of one kind or another.

100%. DeSantis: "That's a lie!!" Translation: " How DARE you expose MY lie!!"
Yep. 10-year-old stuff. Very Presidential. ;-)
This is the problem that Fox, MSNBC, CNN, and PBS have. Most of their viewers are 60+, but the "target demographic" for advertisers & ratings is 18-55. These cable news shows are toast. As Bob Iger said, "The age of linear TV [i.e., cable -- and huge monthly cable fees] is over."
MSDNC will corral the biggest share of corporate ads, but they just demoted Mehdi Hasan, one of their most popular hosts, because he would actually challenge guests on their lies & controversial positions. Viewers like that, but guests, not so much.

Let's cut to the chase. Do you think you are smarter, on a holistic and objective (as opposed to narrow,, incident by incident basis) than DeSantis? Forget your glib comments on putting down the Republican party (which is deserving of mockery like the Democratic party). And writing glib comments in a forum full of winners spending hours on a football OT forum trying to make themselves feel superior debating the same **** year after year is not defacto proof of superior intelligence.
So, do you think Hillary is not smart because she ran for president and ran a horrible campaign and lost to a loser like Trump? Hillary is smart. She came across as smart in debates and was a credible candidate. She made some boneheaded mistakes as well.
But I'm going to go one step further because I think I have to slow it down in order for you to actually understand the point here.
Desantis is smart. He's smarter than Gavin. I've never claimed otherwise. But the problem is that Desantis is operating a game plan that is predicated on and designed for dum dums, since that's what the GOP has become. So Gavin, a less smart person than Desantis, was able to easily defeat Desantis in a debate (putting it mildly) because Ron is trying to sell a loser of a platform to dumb people. Desantis may very well be capable of having a sophisticated policy debate beyond what Gavin could handle, but that would make Desantis lose even more badly to Trump and other GOPers and thus it will never happen.

And remember, Desantis is one of the smartest Republicans.
He is just a horrible candidate and politician.
Just because I think Hillary was a horrible candidate and politician does not mean I doubt her smarts.
I know you are smart enough to know the difference between being smart and being a good politician.
Elon Musk is one of the smartest men. He would also be a disaster as a candidate for president.
Just because DeSantis flamed out as a Republican candidate and stupidly chose to run to Trump's right instead of more to the center like Haley does not take away the fact that he is smart and most assuredly smarter than perople here.
You're a smart guy but you keep coming back here apparently oblivious to what happens to you when you do. How long before you ball up your fists in anger and run away again? A day, a week or more?
You create your own narrative about me. If your argument is so valid, why do you always try to make this personal?calbear93 said:

First of all, is there a posting frequency requirement to be viewed as not being angry? I posted recently on the meaning of polls since that was a new topic. Didn't feel like commenting on all of the old posts making the same old arguments. What is the requirement for future reference to avoid not being accused of walking away in anger?
You are the one who is making all these personal. You have the longest and personal and hostile arguments with Oski, beargoggle, etc, making some shockingly personal accusations toward strangers and yet you keep accusing these folks of making personal attacks. So who is not self-aware?
Try this. Just debate the points and not make personal attacks against the poster. And if you are not reading my post, why bother replying? You must have better things to do.
You just cannot seem to argue points but would rather roll in the mud in personal attacks.Unit2Sucks said:Classic 93 narrative arc.calbear93 said:Unit2Sucks said:I stopped reading after this remarkably self-unaware claim. Shows up out of nowhere (his previous foray into OT ending just as the dozens of prior engagements have, and just as this one will in an hour, a day or a week), responds to an on topic post about the debate with a bizarre attempt to involve me in a discussion about Desantis' intellect.
I respond with a post agreeing with you and pointing out something else (which could in no way be deemed as personal).
You respond yet again, this time with a personal attack. I mostly ignore your flailing attempt to bait me, since I know at this point you are pretty close to losing it (and, like most people here, I've seen you lose your sh^t time and time again on OT for a wide variety of reasons).
Next, as I apparently failed to take the bait to your satisfaction, you once again made this personal.
Having finally agreed to stoop to your level and respond, you then had the gall to pretend like I was the one who started the personal inquiry and went on with your absurd line of inquiry that somehow I couldn't criticize Desantis unless I thought I would do better as a candidate for President. You've made similar arguments in other contexts so I can only presume that you actually think this is a logical response to criticism. Because you will disappear soon, I'm going to do you a favor and not speak any further on the absurdity of your claim before we start talking about Ivy league schools and pedigree.
Are we done here or are you going to continue to hilariously pretend that I'm the one who made my ridicule of Desantis a personal discussion between you and me?
Just to be clear, this is nothing personal. I don't know you in real life but I do know what you do as a poster here. And the ending to this little exchange was preordained from the very second you were triggered to write a post attempting to bait me into a discussion about my personal intelligence, as if it were at all relevant. You don't have to be as smart as Ron Desantis to see where this was heading. And now we've reached the logical conclusion.
Because I can see the future, I can confidently say I'm going to ignore your next post since we all know it will be full of vitriol and I've proven my point well enough.
