Yall do love erasing history and tearing down statues so not surprising that's what you'd want.

You are projecting like MAGAs like to do. Your MAGA team is winning the History Erasure contest by a wide margin:

"The Trump administration is attempting to erase or minimize the history and contributions of non-white people, women, and the LGBTQ+ community from federal government resources and public spaces.

The administration has stated these actions are intended to "restore truth and sanity" to American history and focus on national pride, rather than what it considers "divisive ideology".

Examples of actions cited by critics include:

Removal of online resources and data: Thousands of government web pages and datasets related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, public health, climate change, and specific histories of Black, Latino, and women service members were removed or modified across federal agencies, including the Department of Defense and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Changes to National Parks and monuments: The administration directed the National Park Service to review and remove signage, exhibits, and educational materials deemed to "disparage" the U.S. or its historical figures. This included removing a photo of an enslaved man's "scourged back" from Fort Pulaski National Monument and an exhibit on Indigenous history and racism at Muir Woods.

Renaming of natural landmarks: An executive order targeted place names, such as changing the name of Denali in Alaska back to Mount McKinley, which critics argue erases Indigenous history and connections to the land.

Influence on cultural institutions: The Smithsonian Institution's museums were reportedly instructed to focus on "American greatness" and avoid content on the negative aspects of U.S. history, such as the full realities of slavery.

Efforts to reshape historical narratives in education: The administration pushed for changes in school curricula to align with a narrative that emphasizes a "glorified" American history, while downplaying or removing discussions of slavery, segregation, and discrimination.

The administration's allies defend these executive actions as necessary to correct what they view as a skewed, left-wing interpretation of history. Historians and advocacy groups, such as the Organization of American Historians and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, have called these actions an "assault" on historical institutions and an attempt to rewrite the public record. Some of the data and information removed from government websites was later restored, often after public outcry or legal challenges."

In the case of McKinley you can make this argument, but the rest are just removing exhibits that point to some of the negative aspects of American history, like treatment of slaves and Native American tribes.

My argument is that dems like to try and erase history and you're proving my point.

Are you arguing that it's okay to remove history you deem negative?

. . . no? That was not what I argued at all.

No he's not lying. You used different polls. Disagree with his numbers but you gotta stop calling people liars for no reason. Like the boy who cried wolf bro. You're not always right, sorry bro

Rasmussen pretty much always has rosier numbers for Republicans than other polls.

"Siri, can you give me an example of sycasey overrating one poll that was rosier for Dems than other polls?"

"Why yes, I can."

Quote:

Ann Selzer's poll in Iowa is one that a lot of people look to as a bellwether of how things are going in the midwest, because a shift in Iowa usually correlates to one across MI, WI, PA, MN, OH, etc. (It pointed to Trump beating expectations in 2016 and 2020, for example.) If this accuracy trend continues, then a blue shift like this would mean Trump is done. He can't win without picking off at least one of the midwestern blue states, and Iowa is redder than Wisconsin or Pennsylvania.

I mean, it would have been embarrassing enough just you thinking that Kamala had a chance to win Iowa because of one hilariously way off the reservation poll, but then you extrapolated that to having meaning in other states, all of which Trump not only won but won decisively.

The whole period from 2021-25 was Democrats trying to speak things into existence that obviously weren't true, but they were desperate to believe were true. Republicans are now following that same playbook with the economy and imagining that things are better than they obviously are. Furthermore, the two wars Trump said he would end haven't ended and he's threatening a third, none of which are wanted by the majority of the country. People didn't like Democrats lying to them and punished them for it and I doubt they're going to like it any better from Republicans. But regardless of who's in power, the big things aren't changing. Economy still favors the ultra-rich, ****s the poor and middle class, and the wars never end.

If you read my entire comments on that poll, I said "if" it was true it would mean "XYZ." In the run-up to that election I repeatedly said that I thought the election looked like a 50/50 shot and didn't really know who would win. I also said that if pushed, I would argue for Harris having an edge but I wasn't confident about it. That is all.

Oh, I should also say that Selzer never had a history of favoring one party in her polling like Rasmussen consistently does. In 2016 and 2020 her poll showed worse results (compared to the average poll) for the Democrat and turned out to be more accurate. It was unusual for Selzer to be that far off in Iowa.

Just goes to show that polling is inexact and even the best firms can have a bad one.

As with many things, it's really the fault of the English, calling two different sports "football" (soccer and rugby) that went on to have two lasting lineages in multiple countries.

IIRC, it was Karl Marx observing the Industrial Revolution in England that inspired him to write The Communist Manifesto, so yeah.

President Donald Trumps Name Added To The US Institute of Peace Building

WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 03: U.S. President Donald Trump's name is seen recently placed on the outside of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) building headquarters on December 03, 2025 in Washington, DC. This addition was made ahead of the Trump administration hosting a deal-signing between the leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

WASHINGTON (AP) The Trump administration has renamed the U.S. Institute of Peace after President Donald Trump and has planted the president's name on the organization's headquarters despite an ongoing fight over the institute's control.

It's the latest twist in a seesaw court battle over who controls the U.S. Institute of Peace, a nonprofit think tank that focuses on peace initiatives. It was an early target of the Department of Government Efficiency this year.

On Wednesday, the State Department said it renamed the organization to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace to "reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation's history." The new name could be seen on its building, which is near the State Department.

Trump has spent months openly lobbying for a Nobel Peace Prize even though he was passed over for this year's installment arguing he had a hand in easing a series of conflicts around the world. But Trump has also ordered strikes on suspected drug vessels off the coast of Venezuela and repeatedly threatened that attacks on land could be coming, which would be an act of war against that country.

The takeover of the Peace Institute was also anything but peaceful, with his administration seizing the independent entity and ousting its board before actually affixing his name to the building.

Anna Kelly, a White House spokesperson, said: "The United States Institute of Peace was once a bloated, useless entity that blew $50 million per year while delivering no peace. Now, the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, which is both beautifully and aptly named after a President who ended eight wars in less than a year, will stand as a powerful reminder of what strong leadership can accomplish for global stability."

She added, "Congratulations, world!"

George Foote, a lawyer for the former Institute leadership and staff, said the renaming "adds insult to injury."

"A federal judge has already ruled that the government's armed takeover was illegal. That judgment is stayed while the government appeals, which is the only reason the government continues to control the building," Foote said.

Since March, the headquarters has switched hands multiple times in court actions related to the DOGE takeover. A final decision on its fate is pending in federal appeals court.

USIP has maintained the organization is an independent creation of Congress and outside the president's executive authority. The administration argues it is an executive branch organization.

After Trump fired the institute's board in the the spring, the staff was fired as well and the building was turned over to the General Services Administration.

A federal district court overturned the action in May, putting the headquarters back into the hands of USIP leadership. But that action was reversed weeks later by a federal appeals court.

Employees at this juncture have been fired twice and the building is in GSA's possession.

The building is expected to be the backdrop for the signing of a peace agreement Thursday between Congo's President Felix Tshisekedi and Rwanda's President Paul Kagame. High-ranking officials from the African Union, Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Togo, Qatar, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates are also expected to attend the signing, according to Yolande Makolo, a senior adviser to Kagame.

The USIP website remained unchanged Wednesday night, but its lead item was headlined, "President Donald J. Trump to Sign Historic Peace Agreement at USIP Headquarters," followed by a write-up of the deal between Congo and Rwanda that Trump was overseeing at the institute on Thursday.

The Institute of Peace was created by Congress in the 1980s. President Ronald Reagan signed the bill into law in 1985. Described as an independent, nonprofit think tank funded by Congress, its mission has been to work to promote peace and prevent and end conflicts while working outside normal channels such as the State Department. It was operating in 26 conflict zones, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mali and Burkina Faso, when DOGE shut the operation down.

There is also broad speculation that Trump will be awarded a new peace prize from FIFA on the sidelines of the World Cup draw, happening in Washington on Friday.

Yall do love erasing history and tearing down statues so not surprising that's what you'd want.

Oh. Which pro-slavery civil war General did you want a replica of for your fireplace mantel?

None but I also don't agree in erasing history, good or bad.

Okay. Then how about if we just relocate from the city center high on a pedestal to a somber interpretative museum?

Maybe you're just not very good with symbolism.

I played for the Bay Oaks as a kid.
I also coached 19 youth girls teams (500 games on sideline) and reffed another hundred.

Regarding whatever stupid award they gave him, we've all known FIFA is corrupt as any organization ever was. They hijacked the world's passion for partisan profiteering, precisely the way Trump hijacked the Republican Party.

Trump + FIFA?
It's a marriage made in Hell!!

Ha!
Trump putting the medal on himself reminds of his cousin-in-historical-narcissism also crowning himself in front of Pope Pious VII - because nobody else had higher authority to do so (according to him).

Apologies for all 3 images, but I flunked art history the first time, and I just KNOW Professor Cutter would give me an "A" for having ultimately learned something about the historical impact of artistic symbolism.

More on art history and the significance of imagery.

What does it say when you place symbolistic statues prominently at the century center or at the gateways upon entering a city?

Those of you with half a brain know the obvious answer.
"This is who we honor. This is what our values are."

Pea brains, which include those who are employed in the profession of teaching others, become "tricked" into thinking the act of removing symbolism is an act of removing history. Well, it is. But more importantly, it places a stamp on the future by sending a message about who we strive to be.

(By the way, I was fortunate to have the above exact view in the 1980's. When you look upon a city, the symbolism is staring you in the face!)

If anyone has ever been to Cordoba Spain, they surely visited the Mosque-Cathedral.
When the Christians conquered this Moorish region they didn't completely knock down the incredible mosque. Instead, they build a soaring, light-injecting cathedral right in the middle of the mosque.

The effect is powerful.
As the visitor walks through the dark pillars of the mosque they then enter the cathedral with its taller stain glass walls which soar to heaven and let light in.
The placement says something about the religions: we have conquered and overcome you.

As I have ancestors from Bristol England, I took interest in the story of the statue of Edward Colston, torn down in 2020 during global George Floyd protests. He was a wealthy man from the slave trade in the 1700's. Interestingly, he used his money for good in Bristol, education and libraries I think.
Anyways, the people put their stamp on things.

Here's an epilogue to the video.
What do you think about how this evolving storytelling of history has gone???

The Edward Colston statue (erected 1895 to honor his philanthropy) was retrieved from the harbor by the city council, preserved with graffiti intact, and is now on permanent display at the M Shed museum, telling a fuller story of Bristol's history with the slave trade, with a new plaque added in 2025.

Timeline of Events:
June 7, 2020: During a Black Lives Matter protest, demonstrators pulled down the statue of slave trader Edward Colston and threw it into Bristol Harbour.

June 2020: The city council retrieved the statue from the water.

2021: The statue went on display at the M Shed museum in the "Bristol People" gallery.

2022: The "Colston Four," who were accused of damaging the statue, were acquitted in a criminal trial, with the defense arguing they were "on the right side of history".

April 17, 2025: A new plaque was installed on the empty plinth in the city center, removing previous glorifying language and acknowledging Colston's role in the slave trade.

Current Status:
The statue remains at M Shed as a historical artifact, displayed at knee height to encourage engagement and conversation about slavery.

The empty plinth now serves as a reminder of this moment, with the new plaque providing historical context, and the city has established a commission to explore Bristol's complete history.

AI Overview

*All of the above actions will be undone when Trump leaves Washington D.C. in disgrace.

Renaming back to their original names. Putting history back in place after it was removed by dems.
Please tell me who was tearing down statues and erasing history because it sure as hell wasn't republicans

https://www.britannica.com/procon/historic-statue-removal-debate

In the case of McKinley you can make this argument, but the rest are just removing exhibits that point to some of the negative aspects of American history, like treatment of slaves and Native American tribes.

My argument is that dems like to try and erase history and you're proving my point.

Are you arguing that it's okay to remove history you deem negative?

I would not melt Trump's gold decorations on the walls at the White House.

I would remove them, then build an interpretive center in an economically depressed area so for people who want to visit and learn, then can buy food and stay in hotels in this area.

The center would be accessible via a darkened stairway underground. The display would not be glorified, it would be horrified and mixed in with presentation of psychological interpretations of the need for extravagance and how Trump's entire persona was wrapped up in this mindset to make himself famous and powerful.

The visitor would leave with a deeper understanding of how the nation got swept up his mind control through such imagery as golden leafs, and the entire Trump Experience would spawn a broader discussion of this era in history and how symbolism of items and the spoken word subconsciously impacts the viewer or listener.

Similarly, it would be appropriate to present how the symbolism of protestors trashing the capitol on Jan 6 thwarted the Republicans Coup attempt of that day (by simply rejecting the Electoral College and sending it to a 50 vote state representative vote: "Green Bay Sweep"), which very possibly may have worked!

Stay tuned for 2028.

Statues, architecture, paintings, gold embellishments on a wall…
They are all art, all symbolism, all designed to convey ideas.

Art, ideas, and propaganda have always been intermixed!

There was a time when Trump used to use images and words to sell himself as a sex symbol.
That was an objective of his.

Trump used to call into newspapers pretending to be John Baron (his self-invented associate) and plant stories for publication - about his inflated wealth and his inflated sexuality.

Citizens get to decide what ideas they wish to convey, to themselves and to the children and grandchildren.

Just because a group of individuals place a statue of a military racist at the city center, that doesn't mean the message must remain forever.

For those who wanted the confederate statues to remain, should the Berlin Wall have remained?
Well, sections have, as a reminder of what we DON'T want!

I have on display at my sisters house the plaque of Checkpoint Charlie foundation stones alongside East German marks bills, alongside Berlin Wall chips I hammered out.
I WAS THERE Jun 22,1990

The original guardhouse and barriers at Checkpoint Charlie were dismantled in an official ceremony on June 22, 1990, several months after the Berlin Wall was opened to the public. The removal symbolized the end of the Cold War division at that specific, highly iconic location.

What POTUS Trump is trying to unwind - how we GAVE AWAY our critical magnet technology to China under Bill Clinton.

State Department corrupt? Where are the charges for TREASON?

"The Magnequench Betrayal

"The most devastating blow came not from Chinese industrial espionage but from American corporate short-sightedness. In 1995, General Motors sold Magnequench for $56 million to what appeared to be Sextant Group, led by Archibald Cox Jr. In reality, Sextant was a front for two Chinese state-linked companies with ties to Deng Xiaoping's family.

"Pentagon officials advised against the sale, recognizing that Magnequench supplied 85% of the rare earth magnets used in American guided missiles and smart bombs. They were overruled by the U.S. State Department, which was eager to better relations with China. Mr. Cox promised workers that production would remain in the U.S. for at least a decade. Instead, he began shutting down American plants within three years.

"By 2004, the last U.S. Magnequench facility closed, with 450 workers fired and machine tools shipped to China. America's defense industrial base had been hollowed out for $56 million: the cost of a single F-35 fighter jet."

Nope.
