Literally THOUSANDS of tax dollars saved, woohoo!

Half a trillion dollars added to the military budget - ah, who cares...

Not only that. In Minnesota alone, around $250 million has been clearly identified and charged in the largest specific scheme (Feeding Our Future), with broader investigations into related Medicaid/social services fraud estimating hundreds of millions more proven or charged, and potential totals of $1 billion to over $9 billion across programs (though much of the higher figure is estimated rather than fully adjudicated).

So taking your superbloated, unverified estimate of $9 billion at face value - that's the tab of the first 5 days of the war on Iran.

Not exactly. US spending on the Iran conflict is estimated at around $25 billion so far, compared to roughly $188 billion total appropriated by the US for Ukraine-related support since Russia's 2022 invasion (with ~$127-130 billion in direct aid to Ukraine). This doesn't factor in any future financial benefits from dealing with a friendlier Iranian leadership.

There was over $20 billion in damage incurred to the bases and material alone through Iranian missile and drone bombing, to which you have to add the amount of ordinance used and other operational costs.

We're not getting friendlier Iranian leadership, we are getting a younger, more assertive bunch that is for example going to charge Hormuz transit tolls.

While no one knows what their future leadership will look like, Iran currently has no navy, and its replacement Supreme Leader is missing body parts.

Surrounding Arab nations have become friendlier to US interests thanks to Trump. Iran attacking their neighbors doesn't help their standing with them.

Where are you getting your info and analyses on this war? Not trying to be an a55, just a bit curious.

Iran still has its flotilla of torpedo and missile-launching small boats and subs with which it can wage asymetric warfare on the Persian Gulf.

UAE is all in with the US/Israel, Qatar has flipped neutral, but the Saudis are hedging, based on the fact that Iran can destroy their oil infrastructure so they would rather things get settled. China and Russia are looking like the adults in this conversation with Trump and Bibi bent on escalation.

Which may possibly:

- end OPEC (UAE exits May 1st)
- UAE pipeline bypasses the Strait
- Iran leverage w Hormuz drops with alternate routes increasing business
- quicken our military withdrawl in Europe
- thereby easing tensions w Russia
- possibly helping to wind down the Ukraine - Russia war

No, I'm not for a $1.5 Trillion MIC budget, or even $1.2 T.

Quickie presser today.

President Trump was questioned about pulling troops out of Germany: "we are going to cut way down, and we are cutting a lot more than the 5,000."

Sweet! Bring some home, others to Poland?

The Hegseth and Patel Cold Opening was funny as f@uck and everyone knows it, including you.

*…and yes, the skits are horrifically bad, but an occasional Cold Opening is very good and Weekend Update is almost always good.

I'm gonna say that the current people in charge of government are worthier targets than a back-bencher Congresswoman and a guy who hasn't been elected to anything yet.

The constant victimhood whining from Trump fans has reached some truly ridiculous levels. Nothing is ever your guy's fault.

Who are you calling a back-bencher?
