My experience working in the corporate world is that when your boss starts actively micro-managing you like this it's time to start interviewing elsewhere. They're getting ready to let you go anyway.concordtom said:I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss - there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, “Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else.”

The UN voted to adopt Ukraine’s resolution condemning Russian aggression and demanding the immediate withdrawal of Putin’s forces. How did the US vote? Inexplicably, the US voted NO alongside Russia, North Korea and Belarus. What would Ronald Reagan think of this? I think I know.

I agree that it does not look good but I also think it is reasonable to view this in the context of attempting to achieve a peace deal. Right or wrong, Trump believes Russia has the upper hand in the war. That means you make concessions, including not pissing them off unnecessarily with a do nothing UN vote, especially if you believe you are a few weeks away from achieving peace.sycasey said:BearGoggles said:What was the vote on? I thought Trump's SOP was to go into any negotiation hard with guns blazing, the Roy Cohn way, and then back off so the other side thinks they made a good deal.

I mean they want government employees to quit on their own anyway. It's part of how they plan on shrinking it, they will also move headquarters and people will drop off from doing that. EU defense spending is all effed up too, they add a lot of social spending into their defense spending, as the US keeps that separate. That's how the EU get's their defense spending to go up while not actually having a better ability to defend themselves.movielover said:

I mean, why? What is it about Ukraine that is so crucial for it to join NATO? I think the real question is, does NATO need to exist at all? Why can't Europe defend itself now? If we keep NATO at all, why not a really pared down org that just comes together to discuss world affairs? NATO was always suppose to be a defensive alliance anyway.tequila4kapp said:I mean, I'm more aligned to Biden than Trump on Ukraine so what do I know.bearister said:

I believe Putin when he talks about re-unifying the old USSR.
I believe allowing Putin to gain territory will embolden China; Taiwan will be next.
All the money/aid in the world isn't worth a single US military life. If Ukrainians are willing to fight for their own country sending them aid is the cheapest way to support them possible.
This is pretty well discussed in the Russia Invasion of Ukraine thread; no need to hijack this thread with that business.

Agreed. The ones who quit are mostly the ones you want to keep. We're losing people that will be difficult to replace, though currently it appears we'll have to be chronically short handed for the foreseeable future. I was told today that we probably can't have more than one person on vacation at a time and that we need to submit 3 choice for vacation this summer and they will try to make sure you get one of them.sycasey said:MinotStateBeav said:I mean they want government employees to quit on their own anyway.
