A Frenchman's take on Trump/Musk:

Trump's United States is now a threat to democracy in Europe

https://www.lemonde.fr/en/opinion/article/2025/02/21/trump-s-united-states-is-now-a-threat-to-democracy-in-europe_6738413_23.html

"Since the violent attack launched against European democracies by US Vice President JD Vance in Munich on February 14, there is no more doubt. The denunciation of NATO, the abandonment of Ukraine in favor of Russia and the choice of Vladimir Putin over Volodymyr Zelensky, are coupled with a political offensive against the rule of law, on which peace and the construction of Europe have rested since the victory over Nazism. By stating that he was more "worried" about the "threat from within" Europe than from Russia or China, Vance has astonishingly established the US as Europe's new adversary, not only in economic and geostrategic matters, but now also in political and ideological ones.
….. We must face the facts: Trump's US is no longer a protection but a threat to democracy in Europe. JD Vance's speech in Munich, mixing security blackmail and political pressure, rang out a new existential alarm bell for Europeans."

Even Elno's Grok knows Trump is a liar

If you are referring to Elon Musk, it is very unlikely that he is the one who wrote that community note.

Characterizing a speech as a "violent attack" tells you everything you need to know about the non-Democratic idiocy of certain segments of European political society.

I assume you realize that a few years from now several people in the Administration will be convicted of felonies and serve time in a federal prison.

Why? Because Trump has immunity thanks to Thomas, Alito et al. That being the case, he will not hesitate to have his minions engage in unlawful conduct. The ones that are not ideologue fanatics will refuse and either bail or be fired. The others are GOING DOWN my friend.

The best part of Lawfare is that you actually have to have committed the charged felony for it to work, you know, like every Republican that got charged got convicted or pled….because the actually committed crimes.

Lawfare won't work for Trump/Bondi because there is no support for his baseless allegations against his enemies, so in the absence of a crooked judge, no case will survive the Preliminary Hearing stage and be held over for trial.

In the case of a crooked Trump judge that holds a case over for trial, the jury will acquit or in best case for Bondi, hang and cause a mistrial (this is why Trump often mentions his preference for tribunals aka Kangaroo Courts).

The final safety valve for a Trump enemy on trial is that the only prosecutors left at the Justice Department will be ideologue Trump loyalists that have no meaningful trial experience. Translation: the Justice Department will be unable to field a trial attorney that can successfully prosecute even a traffic ticket.

Bottom line: Trump's paranoid delusions can only play out in a Totalitarian state, which I see as a distinct possibility. Poor Trump is just too high strung so the frustration will force him over the line and no one appears to be willing to stop him. He is in the process of taking over the military and inserting his loyalists. Once he accomplishes this, he is a Golden God.

We can do a respective conviction count a couple of years from now to see who is engaging in "projection."

Oh, and BTW, your use of that word is yet another example of the 10 year old in the playground unimaginative attempt at a comeback…..which you learned from the object of your affection:

That was hilarious.

Every case against Trump was brought in a far left jurisdiction and included numerous judges that were obviously partisan. But those prosecution were righteous and those convictions were pure. Uh huh.

I always know I just dunked on a MAGA when they respond to one of my posts, "Lol" or "hilarious." Both glossary terms for you guys.

Trump is a civilly adjudicated "Sexual Abuser" and a criminally convicted business fraud. He is good for a whole lot more throughout his life.

If you are saying a Red State jury would have engaged in jury nullification and not have found him civilly liable and would not have convicted him criminally, then I agree. You'd do that yourself.

Why can't you just be a baller and admit Trump is a crook but that the end justifies the means so you are cool with it. Does it make you feel less complicit if you rationalize that Trump is a solid guy that is simply a victim?

If you actually care about being a good person and therefore have the need to rationalize his bad conduct, then for sure you will join the legions of his supporters that deny him 3 times before the rooster crows when he drives the bus over the cliff.

Because those charges were laughable on their face to anyone with a modicum of legal knowledge and non-partisan approach. Those cases - which you lean so heavily into - were the very definition of law fare.

The classified documents case is the one that had potential meat on the bones.

Donald Trump sexual misconduct allegations - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump_sexual_misconduct_allegations

I don't know how many sexual discrimination or harassment cases you prosecuted or defended, I had a couple on each side of the ledger.

When you have multiple complainants, it's Game. Set. Match. Just ask the Catholic Church when they have priests with multiple complainants…..or UCLA and USC with their staff gynecologists that had multiple complainants (they paid , in aggregate, $1B+ to settle).

There are far more claims of business fraud against Trump going back decades.

If the defendant is good for the wrong, be it civil or criminal, cries of Lawfare are meaningless to me. Every politician that gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar can claim Lawfare is being used to keep him out of office or remove him from office. Simply not a very sympathetic defense.

The real crying shame is that private and government claimants stayed clear of Trump because of the attorneys' fees he would make them incur pursuing him (like the IRS v. the Church of Scientology). If they had nailed him years ago we wouldn't all be f@ucked now.

I could have lived with Rubio, DeSantis, and many others in your stable that I don't agree with but at least I don't think they are mentally unstable, lawless and traitors.

EJC alleges she was attacked in @1994. She filed suit in like @2019. Trump responded with motions re statute of limitations. NY passed the Adult Victim law that extends the SOL. That law retroactively saved her case. Lawfare.

I'm not denying Lawfare, I'm saying if the defendant is good for it, and it is the type of offense that I think should be disqualifying, then I could care less about Lawfare.

Anyway, she didn't need the statute resurrected for her defamation claim for calling her a liar and I think she sued him a second time for that.

If you are saying Trump is innocent of the assault, that is where you and I differ.

If you think he is innocent because she (and the multiple other women) didn't press criminal charges or sue him back in the 1990's, I direct your attention once again to the Child Rape Crisis in the Catholic Church. In California they opened up the statute of limitations for one year (2003) for civil filings (lifting bar of SOL for criminal charges was held unconstitutional by Cal Supreme Court). Some of the claims were more than 40 years old and the Church got its lunch eaten in every case it tried…then it bulk settled them.

Newsom opened up the statute a second time and the Church got hammered again. The Church in America is closing in on $4B paid in settlements and verdicts.

My point, the fact the women assaulted were reluctant to take on Trump doesn't surprise me.
