Democrats bought Russiagate, the Ukraine war, and the Bush/Cheney are loyal to democracy storylines. They're currently buying the "Epstein is bad for Trump and no one else" party line. I'm pretty sure they figure anytime a Democrat or the New York Times tells you what to believe, you'll believe it and doubly so if Robert Reich or Heather Cox Richardson tells you to believe it. I see no reason why the sheep will stop being sheep for the next thing they're told to believe.
The only encouraging things in Democrat politics right now are that Mamdani won the mayor's race over the Democratic establishment's racist campaign and that Maine is currently rejecting the many identity politics attacks they are making on Graham Plattner, which shows that some of the fools that bought into "Vote Blue No Matter Who" are done with that. This is not to say that Mamdani and Plattner would necessarily govern well - chances are more likely they become the next impotent versions of Cory Bush and Jamaal Bowman. But the numbers are not yet high enough to suggest that the Democratic base is any less stupid than they have always been.
