U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema in Alexandria, Virginia, on Friday also barred the government from moving forward with the fund's creation while litigation is pending to challenge it.

The judge, who was nominated to the bench by President Bill Clinton, a Democrat, scheduled a June 12 hearing for arguments on whether to extend the order blocking payouts from an "Anti-Weaponization Fund." The government created the fund to resolve Trump's lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service over the leak of his tax returns.

Judge temporarily blocks payouts from Trump's $1.8B 'anti-weaponization' settlement fund

First, this isn't earmarked for J6 people. As has been said, they can apply with no guarantee of getting payment as can anyone else. Would you rather the government pays out the entire amount to Trump? How about the original amount of the lawsuit straight to Trump? Trump is saving the government from having to pay out billions more

For your argument to be correct, you have to start at the beginning. Why does Trump deserve 1.8 billion dollars?

It's not my place to say he does or doesn't, that was for the court to decide until the settlement was arrived at. Trump is arguing he deserved much more for the release of his private information in what plausibly was a hit job.

No court awarded Trump 1.8 billion dollars. Trump literally settled with people he manages. Shouldn't that smell funny?

I never said a court awarded Trump anything. Everything in government smells funny.

You made the following statement:

"Trump is saving the government from having to pay out billions more."

In order for this to be true, you have to believe that Trump has earned 1.8+ billion dollars. Please demonstrate why Trump deserves this money.

I never said he deserves it, that wasn't for me to decide. The government would have either paid out more in court fees or in a larger settlement/ruling.

Why would the government have paid out more in court fees or in a larger settlement/ruling? Courts don't give people things they don't deserve. Your arguments here appear to have no foundation. And, while I understand the legal system is expensive, hourly attorney fees are generally in the thousands, not billions.

This is a really dumb take. IF Trump had won he would NOT have received $1.776 billion or more. This would be an award for damages of half his net worth at the time for the IRS failing to properly oversee a contractor who leaked his tax return.

In exchange for the Trump administration dropping a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS, the Justice Department established the multi-billion-dollar fund. The lawsuit originally argued the IRS should have prevented a contractor from leaking Trump's tax records.

Why don't leftists practice equality? They could have leaked Biden's, Kamala's, and Obama's tax records as well.

A federal judge dismissed criminal charges against a media executive in a long-running bribery case involving FIFA after the US Justice Department said the case no longer fits the Trump administration's priorities.

Joseph Nocella, the US attorney for the Eastern District of New York, appeared in court on Wednesday and told the judge, "The Department of Justice does not want to use its resources to continue to pursue the prosecution." He added, "It doesn't fit with the administration's priorities" which include terrorism, threats to national security, drug and human trafficking, and gangs.

I would have posted a photo of Comey's seashells at the beach, but I don't want to be suspended.
I was once suspended for a month for posting a Polymarket link.

To this day, Trump's DoJ has never indicted Polymarket for sponsoring bets on various probabilities.
Even though the bar is quite low, per "seashells on the beach."

Never mind that a President might not be able to complete his term due to a whole host of events such as Article 25, Impeachment, Illness like Harrison and Taylor, Resignation like Richard Nixon, etc.

We've also seen the same at work with state and local politicians who have been "recalled".
