He's clearly mentally ill.

"America's vaccine policy has been set for decades, with patients, providers, scientists and insurers more or less in sync on the merits of immunizations.

In the last several weeks, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has upended long-standing norms, introducing uncertainty into a once-reliable system.

Why it matters: Access to health care may shift in unpredictable ways. At worst, infectious diseases once thought to be eradicated could return.

Catch up quick: Kennedy sent shockwaves through the medical community two weeks ago with a controversial decision to stop recommending the COVID vaccine to healthy kids and healthy pregnant women.

The CDC contradicted this just days later, recommending that healthy kids do get the COVID shot.
Confusion escalated this week, when Kennedy abruptly dismissed all 17 members of the expert panel that wields a great deal of power in shaping vaccine policy and makes recommendations to the CDC.

Some of the eight new members Kennedy quickly named have expressed anti-vaccine sentiment in the past.
Together, these changes represent a sharp break from public health precedent and raise questions about what happens next.

Case in point: Leigh Haldeman, a pregnant woman in Seattle, was recently turned away when going to get a COVID booster shot, as recommended by her doctor, CNN reports.

Cases like hers could become more common. While most doctors and pharmacies will likely still be able to recommend and administer the vaccine, access might start to erode.
Insurers are likely to start denying coverage of the COVID vaccine to groups who aren't deemed eligible by the government, putting the vaccine out of reach for people who don't have the time to seek out a willing provider or the money to pay out of pocket for the shot.

The other side: Kennedy has said replacing the members of the expert panel is a "major step towards restoring public trust in vaccines."

He's also said the decision to stop recommending COVID vaccines to kids is common sense because they're less likely to get very sick from COVID than adults.
But the vaccine can still protect kids who could develop serious symptoms and do so with no appreciable side effects, Chris Forrest, a professor of pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, told the New York Times."

You might want to take a look at who RFK Jr has appointed to replace some of these ACIP panelists, like Martin Kulldorff and Robert Malone.

With one exception, its members seem to know little about vaccines.

Never mind that RFK Jr had a financial stake in one of the lawsuits against Merck over its HPV vaccine.

Is that normal?

Definitely not normal, usually they have financial stakes with Merck and big pharma.

"America has historically led the world in scientific innovation driving economic growth, strengthening national security, and attracting global talent.

But scientists, including some who served in President Trump's first administration, warn that lead could slip away under new moves by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Axios' Maya Goldman reports.
Last week's mRNA divestment "risks stalling progress in some of the most promising areas of modern medicine," Jerome Adams, surgeon general in the first Trump administration, now a professor at Purdue, tells Axios.

"Walking away from this technology now would be like pulling funding from antibiotics after penicillin or from computers after the microchip. It's short-sighted and puts us at a disadvantage globally."
Catch up quick: Kennedy said last week that HHS's Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority would pull nearly $500 million worth of contracts with universities, drug companies and other labs working on new mRNA vaccines.

Scientists rebut the implication that mRNA vaccines are unsafe. The technology that brought mRNA COVID vaccines in Trump's first term has been in development for decades. Large scientific trials and real-world data have shown that the vaccines are safe and effective and capable of training the body's immune system to create antibodies to fight a host of afflictions.
HHS, when asked for the research on which Kennedy based this decision, sent Axios a link to a citation collection put together by anti-COVID vaccine advocates.

The CDC has endorsed mRNA COVID vaccines for most adults.
Zoom out: Researchers are studying how mRNA technology could treat or prevent cancer, HIV, and other chronic diseases and the science so far is promising.

"If we stop now, we could delay or even miss the next generation of cures entirely," said Adams, the former surgeon general."

Look for RFK to implement real changes that will bring US FDA standards up to international standards.

I cant read the youtube.

Kennedy is scary and in some ways anti-medicine. That doesn't mean he is wrong on all the issues. He is trying to allow regenerative medicine (using the body itself to promote healing) in the US. Regenerative medicine aims to repair or replace damaged tissues and organs, promoting healing and restoring function without surgery. It utilizes various techniques, including:

  • Stem Cell Therapy: Using stem cells to grow new cells and tissues that can replace damaged ones.
  • Tissue Engineering: Creating artificial tissues or organs in the laboratory to transplant into patients.
  • Gene Therapy: Modifying genes to enhance the body's natural healing process.
  • Growth Factor Therapy: Injecting growth factors to stimulate tissue regeneration.
Regenerative medicine has potential applications in treating a wide range of conditions, such as:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders: Arthritis, tendonitis, rotator cuff tears
  • Cardiovascular diseases: Heart failure, myocardial infarction
  • Neurological disorders: Stroke, spinal cord injuries
  • Skin injuries: Burns, scarring
  • Organ failure: Kidney failure, liver failure
Regenerative medicine is still an evolving field, and many treatments are in the research and development phase, primary outside the US due to the efforts of the Catholic Church, Insurance Companies and many professionals in practice areas that would be disrupted or eliminated. The effectiveness and safety of these therapies can vary depending on the specific condition and the treatment used, and in some countries that offer regenerative therapies, there is lax regulation of health and safety practices. I know many people who have been cured of cancers or had tendons regrown and improved without surgery using these methods. One major problem is regenerative therapies are relatively expensive, especially when you add having to leave the country for treatment. Most regenerative medical tourism today is for cosmetic proposes, and the joke is that there are more actors in South Korea than in Hollywood at any moment in time. But that is changing big time, as wealth Americas go to International clinics for medical issues.

There is growing knowledge base and research studies portfolio outside the US. The US is now behind the curve in medical advancements and expertise (though many US doctors now own or operate clinics outside the US). The crux to some of the medicine is that are own old stem cells are less potent and the most desirable stem cels come from umbilical cords (Wharton's Jelly to be precise) (this is a general comment and the world of stem cells is very complex) and the FDA generally not allowing most stem cell treatments that people want, and also limiting research). That leads to a lot of concerns of the Church. It also means most stem cell treatment in the US is not very successful.

The dollar and cents is that regenerative medicine is so much less invasive and effective, it will fundamentally change or eliminate existing specialties, shifting the focus of medicine from managing or attacking symptoms to finding cures. Companies that rely on surgery for example, those that provide hip or knee implants will need to move away from these products, and then there is insurance companies that will have to quantify medical risks in new manners. So these folks are pushing back. Like it or not, regenerative medicine is the future, and the only question is how far behind will the US become?

As some of you know, I'm involved with an academic neuroscience institute (not at Cal) which is being creamed by Trump. It is frustrating to see critical research being hampered, but forced to stay relatively mum because Secretary Kennedy offers the potential to bring American medical research out of the dark ages in this critical area.

Thanks for enduring my sermon.

The answer is yes the Church and some evangelical gruops oppose stem cells for historical reasons relted to abortions. Most stem cells are now created from the discarded umbilical material from young women in good health after giving birth (they get their medical care for free in exchange for donating their Wharton's Jelly) so the abortion issue in theory is off the table. The Church has recently said that sources like adult tissue, umbilical cord blood, and induced pluripotent stem cells are okay, but the FDA still has not changed its rules, probably due to the influence of the US medical establishment that stands to be financially hurt if regenerative treatments and research are approved in the US, and the fact that the FDA take forever to do anything. I might add those not educated in the Church's charge in position will have an immediate antagonistic view toward anything to do with stem cells.

The reason Kennedy is so buff is because he is one of those fortunate enough to get stem cell treatment (or at least exosomes which are technically what stem cells produce), and he is pushing for opening things-up in the US. That puts him at odds with certain religious and medical interests and the FDA establishment that wants to take years to study the area itself, despite huge amounts of research and data developed primarily in Europe and Asia. I'm assuming they will label Kennedy as crazy, while with some irony, the US research community and some portions of the medical community will support him in this area. Supposedly Trump is on board with Kennedy's ideas due to the financial upside for the country, but Trump often changes his mind.

BTW, Kennedy's views on vaccines are out of touch with scientific consensus. That is not true for regenerative medicine where the International community views regenerative medicine as valid and the future.
