Footage shows a very, very hard landing that was also a bit off-center, collapsing the starboard landing gear, tearing off the wing on that side, which turned the other wing up and flipped the fuselage upside down. Pilot error.

I was a base training captain for a major airline. It looks like the aircraft did not flare (raise the nose) before touching down. A 'no flare' or 'late flare' can sometimes happen when the pilot becomes overly focused on the crosswind. In crosswind landings on some aircraft…

Even to this amateur's eyes, it did look like a very hard landing.

Is this why they're refusing to release the pilot's names? The Delta flight that crashed in Toronto was operated by Endeavor Air, who promotes all-female operated flights that are "unmanned"? pic.twitter.com/fqXslaOlZS

Don't you think its a bit odd that so little information has been released about the pilots? No names (maybe they have privacy concerns), no description of their experience, etc. For the DC crash, we almost immediately had that type of information.sycasey said:

I'm happy to wait for further information to come out before passing judgment or making speculation.BearGoggles said:Don't you think its a bit odd that so little information has been released about the pilots? While we don't know the cause of the crash, I have seen several interviews where pilots/experts have indicated that the plane descended way too fast and failed to "flare" (lift its nose). It was too hard a landing. We don't know why yet - could be due to a mechanical issue or even weather. But mostly scenario is pilot error.
One additional factor - the best and/or more experienced pilots fly bigger planes. Regardless of age/sex of the pilots, there was a reason they were flying the small commuter plane and not a widebody jet.

I am surprised a wacky BI liberal hasn't blamed climate change for the crash.
Interesting that you're so willing to wait and see in this case before "speculating", but not in many others. It is almost like your political preferences play a role as to when you're inclined to speculate and make assumptions (like wildly asserting Musk is the de facto president).sycasey said:I'm happy to wait for further information to come out before passing judgment or making speculation.BearGoggles said:Don't you think its a bit odd that so little information has been released about the pilots? The Delta/Endeavor plane that crashed was piloted by Kendal Swanson.

A year ago, she was an instructor pilot for a small propellor aircraft. Recently licensed to co-pilot a small jet.
Swanson was a new hire at Endeavor Air, a regional carrier for Delta, possibly still in her… pic.twitter.com/sZ4FU0PUUx

Assuming this is true, then it seems likely there was a pilot-error problem.Cal88 said:bear2034 said:Panic Erupts On Flight As Captain Of Female Crew Announces That 'Everything's Fine' https://t.co/eUVrN4Tqsp pic.twitter.com/yMXvNfLvmZ

There's the BearFarce we know and love. Posting death and murder porn. The right always rejoices when one of their boogeymen is a victim of horrific violence. Murder is only bad if it's normal Christian white people being killed.
There's a whole lot yet to be learned/investigated. Before we bury the pilot because a) she's a woman and b) young, let's not forget she was working as a flight instructor before moving up to jets. That would tend to suggest a better level of expertise than the average 26 year old pilot.sycasey said:Assuming this is true, then it seems likely there was a pilot-error problem.Cal88 said:bear2034 said:Panic Erupts On Flight As Captain Of Female Crew Announces That 'Everything's Fine' https://t.co/eUVrN4Tqsp pic.twitter.com/yMXvNfLvmZ
