Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams was hit with a $25,000 fine on Monday over profane language.

Williams, however, didn't say anything bad in the wake of the team's Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets. Instead, the fine was issued for Williams' choice of clothing.

Williams, after the Thunder's series-clinching 125-93 win, wore a T-shirt with profanity on it when he met with reporters at the Paycom Center. The shirt in question had the phrase, "F*** art, let's dance" written in red letters across the chest.

F$CK Art, let's dance.

I resent that accurate remark. I was 18 when Knicks won it all in '73 (also won in 1970 on Reed's bad wheel).

I thought Walt "Clyde" Frazier was the coolest guy in the league:

Dave DeBusschere was in the elite group of athletes that played two pro sports. Like a lot of former NBA players, he had a bad ticker and passed too soon.

Pete Maravich said Earl the Pearl was one of the toughest guys to guard. He would back you down and keep faking regarding which side he was going to spin around to shoot. When he shot he would clip you under the chin with the elbow of his guide hand arm.

I dug that movie as a young guy. Curtis Mayfield's soundtrack still stands up today (of course those were the Malcolm Gladwell named 10,000 hours Rule days).

The NBA must be praying that the Knicks win, because otherwise the Finals is a small-market nightmare.

There was at least one play where I couldn't believe Indiana got a very open look at three because the defense was sagging back, when made threes were probably the only thing that could beat them. You have to prevent those at all costs! Hound them off the line!

"The Knicks led by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter and by 14 points with 2:45 remaining.

The Pacers scored 23 points in the final 3:14 of regulation, the most any team has scored in such a stretch in playoff history.

Aaron Nesmith became the first player in NBA history to make six 3s in the fourth quarter of a playoff game. All six came in the final five minutes.

Stat of the day: Since 1996, teams that have trailed by 7+ points in the final 50 seconds of the fourth quarter or OT in the playoffs are 4-1,702. This year's Pacers have three of those wins."

I only saw the highlights and thought the Knicks had it in the bag with 3 minutes left, Reggie Miller who was calling the game was beside himself. Like Charles Barkeley said in the post game, when Nesmith hit his first two threes in the 4th, he should have been considered by the Knicks as someone who's hot and should have been body checked but he ended up with open looks. I don't even know who Nesmith is but he proceeded to do something that not even Curry or Klay did in their long playoff careers.

Around 0:50 here was the play in my memory. They set a basic screen at the top of the arc. Towns doesn't even try to fight through the screen and the other defender just sags off of Nesmith. What are you doing? Get up in his face immediately! If he drives and makes a layup that's fine, but you can't give up open threes in that situation. You can see Coach Thibs was disgusted after that.

I found myself watching a 30 for 30 on that team. At the end they listed how many ended up as hall of famers.
I thought, "gee, for a team with that many HoFers, they sure did underachieve with only 2 titles! It must be the NY media market that got somewhat more 'average' players in."

The New York Knicks won two NBA championships in the early 1970s in 1970 and 1973. Those rosters were stacked with talent, and a remarkable number of players and coaches from those teams were eventually inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Here's a breakdown of those Hall of Famers:

Knicks Hall of Famers from 1970 & 1973 Teams:

Players:
1. Willis Reed Finals MVP in both title runs. The team's captain and emotional leader.
2. Walt "Clyde" Frazier Elite two-way point guard, famous for his Game 7 performance in 1970.
3. Bill Bradley Smart, steady forward; later became a U.S. Senator.
4. Dave DeBusschere Defensive powerhouse and key rebounder.
5. Earl Monroe Joined after the 1970 title but was part of the 1973 championship team.
6. Jerry Lucas Also joined later, part of the 1973 team; known for his intelligence and rebounding.

Coach:
7. Red Holzman Legendary head coach of both title teams, known for emphasizing team play and defense.

Total Hall of Famers: 7
5 players were part of both titles (Reed, Frazier, Bradley, DeBusschere, Monroe*).
Lucas was only on the 1973 team.
Holzman coached both title teams.

(*Note: Monroe, a prior star with the Bullets, was not on the 1970 team but was crucial to the 1973 win.)

(… in the 197273 season, Jerry Lucas served as a valuable sixth man for the New York Knicks, though he also started games when needed, especially during injuries.

By that point in his career, Lucas was 32 years old and nearing retirement, but he was still highly effective. While Willis Reed returned from injury and resumed his role as starting center, Lucas often backed up both forward and center spots, bringing his signature rebounding and high basketball IQ off the bench. He also had the ability to stretch the floor with his excellent outside shooting for a big man, which was relatively rare at the time.

In the 1973 playoffs especially the Finals against the Lakers Lucas played meaningful minutes and hit key shots, complementing the Knicks' veteran core.)

Phil Jackson was a member of the New York Knicks during their championship years, but he did not play in the 1970 NBA Finals due to a back injury. He was on the roster and contributed during the regular season, but missed the playoffs entirely that year.

He did play in the 1973 season and was part of that championship team, contributing as a reserve forward known for his hustle, defense, and team-first mentality.

So:
1970 On the team, injured and did not play in the playoffs or Finals.
1973 Active player, contributed off the bench.

He wasn't a star, but his presence and role were appreciatedand, of course, he went on to become one of the greatest coaches in NBA history.

Here's when the Hall of Famers from the Knicks' 1970 and 1973 championship teams retired as players:

1. Willis Reed
Retired: 1974
Chronic knee injuries forced him to retire at age 32. He later became a coach and executive.

2. Walt "Clyde" Frazier
Retired: 1980
Finished his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers after leaving the Knicks in 1977.

3. Bill Bradley
Retired: 1977
Retired at age 34 and soon entered politics, later serving as a U.S. Senator.

4. Dave DeBusschere
Retired: 1974
Retired at age 33. He later served as the ABA's commissioner and Knicks GM

5. Earl "The Pearl" Monroe
Retired: 1980
Played with the Knicks until knee problems ended his career.

6. Jerry Lucas
Retired: 1974
Retired after the 197374 season. Known for his incredible memory and intelligence.

7. Red Holzman (Coach)
Retired from coaching: 1982
Coached the Knicks through the 1970s, briefly stepped aside, and returned before retiring for good.

8. Phil Jackson's NBA playing career:
New York Knicks (19671978)
New Jersey Nets (19781980)

…in the 197273 season, Jerry Lucas served as a valuable sixth man for the New York Knicks, though he also started games when needed, especially during injuries.

Fun fact:

As of now, every eligible NBA MVP has been inducted into the Hall of Fame, except one:

Not in the Hall of Fame (yet):
Derrick Rose (MVP in 2011)
Not yet eligible (still an active player as of 2025)
Youngest MVP ever (22 years old)
Career derailed by injuries, but still playing a role off the bench

Derrick Rose's 201011 MVP Season Stats
Games Played: 81
Minutes per Game: 37.4
Points per Game: 25.0
Assists per Game: 7.7
Rebounds per Game: 4.1
Steals per Game: 1.0
Blocks per Game: 0.6
Field Goal Percentage: 44.5%
Three-Point Percentage: 33.2%
Free Throw Percentage: 85.8%
True Shooting Percentage: 55.0%
Total Points: 2,026
Total Assists: 623
Total Rebounds: 330
Plus/Minus: +498

Rose's dynamic play was instrumental in leading the Chicago Bulls to a league-best 6220 record that season. His leadership and performance were pivotal in the Bulls' journey to the Eastern Conference Finals, marking their first appearance since 1998.

Okay…. GPT F'd up, because Rose is not even eligible for a vote yet.
