Looked deeper and came up with the same answer. The DOJ has shown itself to be a tool for retribution against Bone Spur's perceived enemies. They have misrepresented to the truth so many times that Federal judges have noted that the DOJ is not believable and the representations that they have made to various judges can no longer be trusted. What jury on this planet will convict an old civil rights organization in pursuit of organizations who represent white supremacy? Even southern juries don"t like organizations who have histories like the KKK, National Alliance, and others. What person would be confused enough to try to protect these abhorrent organizations? Common sense wins this case.

Yeah, gonna wait for something a little more convincing than your analysis

That's okay it's my analysis if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. The one thing I know is there are significant headwinds to getting a conviction.

They are always claiming victory and demanding reparations at the prosecutors statement. Then things tend to die on the vine. The SPLC will have its day in court. Unless this prosecution falls apart before then as things usually do with Trump's DOJ

Eleven indictments, $3 million given to 'hate groups'.

Like I said before, indictments are easy but, conviction are much harder. Let's see where this one ends up. It's commendable that you recognize that the groups are indeed hate groups.

Zero convictions but, he has bent the knee to Col. Bone Spur. If I were Blanche I would be more concerned about my pardon on the way out the door .

Like Blanche said, this is just the beginning. I would advise to stop donations immediately.

Get back to me when something significant happens. It is telling that they had to go to Mississippi to get an indictment and not Eastern Virginia which would have been standard operating procedure.

Favorable venue because you don't have the goods. Indictments are easy, especially when you leave out information. Conviction are much harder. They want the issue because they won't get a conviction and they know it. This is all performative from a person who wants to be the Attorney General of the United States and wants to please the boss. Like I said, get back to me when something significant happens and then I will revisit my comments.

The indictment was brought in the Middle District of Alabama (Montgomery) because that is where the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is headquartered.

All allegations and no specifics. It is not illegal to pay an informant for information. The program has been around since the early 80's and not one peep from a Democratic President or even a Republican President till now.
Riiiggghht. They have come up with this defrauding donors and banking fraud as charges. This will fall apart and is falling apart. The fact that they left information out when in front of the Grand Jury will be addressed the Judge and will not be looked on favorably. The witnesses will be less than believable given their white supremacy leanings. Asking a jury to disregard the fact that the SPLC was going after White Supremacist who have an ideology that supports the overthrow of the government through violent confrontation is a losing proposition. Good luck at getting a conviction

First Amendment issues
Witness issues
Selective Prosecutions
Trying to meet the pillars of certain crimes
Jury selection

Just a few problems they are facing

The SPLC was indicted on April 21, 2026, by a federal grand jury in Montgomery, Alabama, on 11 criminal counts.

  • 6 counts of wire fraud
  • 4 counts of false statements to a federally insured bank
  • 1 count of conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering
The U.S. Department of Justice also filed forfeiture actions to recover alleged proceeds. This is just the beginning.

I was exposed to economist Dr. Thomas Sowell in college primarily bc of his vast and clear research. (I say primarily - who knows, maybe the prof was a closet Conservative.) His weekly syndicated column kept him easily accessible, as well as stints on PBS and elsewhere.

Liberals seemed to be perpetually skewered by him, Buckley, Friedman (his mentor), and Williams. Some weekend political shows seem to shift to four Liberals and an obligatory Conservative in name only guest.

The first 23 Black members of Congress were all Republicans, elected during Reconstruction after the Civil War (20 in the House, 2 in the Senate). The first Black Democrat in Congress was elected in 1934.
