That strategy worked so well in Iraq, Libya etc.

Doesn't sound like you're very happy with the Orange Man.
Face it, you got duped.

I was not duped, given that he has received $200 million from the Adelsons. I did not vote for him.

The irony here is that you support Trump's policy of attacking Iran, your worldview being shaped by WSJ editorials and other neocon outlets.

Just a point of context . . .

The Ayatollah brought all of this on himself when IRAN conducted two direct attacks on Israel last October.

And he's lead Iranians to be destitute for 4 decades.

October 2024 Iranian strikes on Israel - Wikipedia

Classic BoomerCon talking point, these attacks were in retaliation for several major assassinations of Iranian high officials and bombings of Iranian territory, including their embassies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_2024_Iranian_strikes_on_Israel#Previous_attacks_inside_Iran_and_Israel

If someone did this to Israel, they would have reacted far more violently, the Iranian responses have always been measured and they have proven to be pragmatic policy makers, if only because they do not have escalatory dominance.
And Israel killed those people because they led Iran's proxy's numerous attacks against Israel.

In an attrition war between Israeli defense interceptors and Iranian missiles, the latter would win. The question is whether Israel (and the USAF?) can attrit Iranian missile stocks and launches enough to alter that calculus.

You sure stepped into that one.

Contrary to you, I actually read the real article from the WSJ.
Here, I will share it with you.

Bingo.

Cal88 must not have read about that in the WSJ.

The article does confirm that the Israelis are running low on interceptor missiles, as I have asserted above.

This is what I have stated above:

Quote:

"In an attrition war between Israeli defense interceptors and Iranian missiles, the latter would win. The question is whether Israel (and the USAF?) can attrit Iranian missile stocks and launches enough to alter that calculus."

You asked me to support that claim, and I showed you one article which confirmed that the Israelis were already running low on their anti-air interceptors.

The article does support my claim.

Unfortunately, we are already heavily involved in some way or another due to the number of military assets in the region. Not getting involved in any form and pulling out of CENTCOM altogether is a separate discussion.

That being said, war is very unpopular with most Americans and to a lesser degree, not letting Iran have access to nuclear weapons. Trump campaigned on both issues, therein, lies the conundrum.

I prefer the status quo which was last week before Israel struck Iran, but then again, Iran is enriching uranium and getting closer to weapons grade levels per the IAEA.

If Iran or the terrorist groups it finances attack U.S. assets in the region, Trump has no choice but to respond militarily and would most likely suffer politically for doing so.

90% of IRAN'S crude oil exports go to China at a discount to the market.

An Israeli strike on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf would stop the bulk of Iran's oil exports and hurt all those refineries that buy cheap Iranian crude.

Doesn't the public typically rally around POTUS during wartime? Especially if they hit us first.

MacGregor claims Iran has a large supply of missiles, and numerous backup sources. Launchers may be an issue, though it's a large country.

He also mentioned another leverage point. As Israel burns through their missile stockpiles, they could tell us, "If you don't help, we'll have to use nukes."

I believe that the Saudi's and the rest of OPEC can pick up the slack.
No matter how many "conflicts" there have been, spikes in oil prices have always been temporary.

Under the Constitution and the War Powers Act, Congress must vote to go to war.
But my guess is that you would have no problem allowing our Dictator to make that decision.

I didn't hear you complain about the 36 Gaza hospitals that Israel has bombed. Or the Iranian hospital in Teheran that Israel targeted with its guided bombs...

Sure, Macgregor is not as cute as Peggy, but he's a bit more knowledgeable about Mideast wars and missiles having led one of the largest US tank offensives in recent history.
