I find this humorous because when it suits Trump he would call the intelligence community part of the so called "deep state".
You know what deep state means?
It means anyone who has been in DC for a long time. And they are the enemy of Trump because he's new and at any rate doesn't want to adhere to any of the old ways. No norms. Nor rules. No conventions. As Marty Baron said, Trump wants to be the arbiter of facts regarding justice, social policy, interest rates, military and foreign relations - everything. He wants to walk in and have control of it all, and anything that gets in his way and he doesn't like he can simply call it the "deep state" to discredit it politically and attempt to take it over.
When he likes the intelligence community, it's HIS intelligence community.
When he doesn't like it, it's the so-called "deep state".
His followers are too stupid to get this brainwashing that he does.
No. The Deep State means career bureaucrats who disagree with the policies of this admin and who use their position and the access to information it enables to undermine the administration by things like leaking information deemed contradictory or damaging. It's people who put their own interests and beliefs ahead of their duty to serve.
In other words, experts that have studied a field for decades should shut up and let the poorly informed newcomers do whatever they want.
Yeah, like the 51 IC experts who were rounded up by the campaign manager to sign a statement about Hunter's laptop they knew was false.
This is so simple it's ludicrous. If you cannot abide by the policies of an admin you either work within the department to influence policy (advise re your area of expertise, and accept their decisions) or you resign. You do not actively work to undermine the administration by leaking info to members of the media who share your disdain for the admin.

Yesterday I met with a friend who now lives in Geneva. Our families have (had, in her case) homes on the coast in Spain and so we were summer neighbors decades ago. She told me she had met with the grandson of Stauffenburg just last week.

Next, let's consider information. Burning of the books rally. What was that about? Do you think there is any effort by Trump to similarly shut up and shut out other voices?
Now, let's compare the attack on "the others". Nazis sent Jews and Gypsies and gays to the camps. Trump has made it his rallying cry to verbally attack foreigners, mentally disabled people, captured soldiers, and all things non-English. Do you see the comparison?
