I wasn't aware that he had passed. May he rest in peace.

Yes, he passed in early February at the age of 81.
Was living with his wife Deborah in Grass Valley.

He had initially suffered a heart attack and a nasty fall in December of 2024.

I recall watching the broadcast when Julie Haener, Bill Martin, and Mark Ibanez went to visit him in the hospital.

We posted about it in a few threads when it happened. What a legend. Definitely the best of the local news anchors during his run.

I think Mark Ibanez said in another interview that Dennis Richmond had offers to go and become a national network guy, but he didn't want to leave the Bay so he stayed at KTVU.

Dennis definitely didn't let racism and discrimination hold him back. He worked past whatever roadblocks were in his way and achieved success. He didn't say to himself "I can't ever achieve much because 300 years of slavery and white racism will prevent me from doing anything successful."

The societal constructs ( constraints) are alive and well and thriving otherwise this land never selects dj for president 2 out of 3 times.

capitulation is necessary for assimilation ( this a sliding scale)

Individual gains when the masses are starving to survive Is exactly that. Was his impressive success equaled to tangible group gains ? Look around nope
Food for thought

Dennis was at KTVU for 40 years!

He started out as a clerk typist and became anchor in 1976.
His co-anchors along the way were Barbara Simpson, Elaine Corral, and Leslie Griffith.
I think he and his wife Deborah lived in San Ramon when he was working at KTVU.

Dude was the anchor for 31 years.
Retired in 2008.

RIP sir.
