I've said if we go to war with Venezuela simply because "Drugs" which Venezuela isn't even a top 5 country of where drugs into the US comes into, then Trump will have lost support from me. He promised to be an anti-war President but still be a strong leader that can wave the big stick. I am ok shooting down these cartels speed boats that are filled with drugs. (No they aren't fisherman, that dems keep trying to pawn on the public) But destabilizing a nation for a weak excuse like that is a big no from me. If drugs is why then we'd be going to war with Mexico. This is the neocons pushing for it. This is either a huge Trump play to put the fear of god into Venezuela's leadership in order to create some kind of change or it's a legit threat of us going to war. I feel this isn't being talked about enough. Glad Tucker is talking about it. Feel like its about the oil, but even that, is a weak reason since Venezuela's oil is dirt oil.

Don't worry Minot. You'll support the war in Venezuela. You'll cling to some excuse. Just like you opposed the end of the war in Afghanistan. Just like you originally supported the War in Iraq. Fish swim. It's what they do.

lol. Trump is never to blame for his failures that those who opposed him predicted. There was never a chance that a man of Trump's poor character was going to have access to the U.S. military for 8 years and not use it.

The war on Venezuela and the internal war on Americans who oppose Trump - all of which people like Minot voted for - will proceed.

There's that old saying that if you "Break it, You Own it"

If Trump invades Venezuela and all hell breaks loose there with their military (and who they wind up being loyal to) then we are going to OWN THAT.

Last time I checked, the United States has not yet imposed the death penalty on convicted drug traffickers……..until now, and without a trial.

Quote:

Venezuela's oil is considered "dirty" in the sense that it is extremely heavy and sourmeaning it has high sulfur content and requires complex refining. This makes it less desirable and more expensive to process compared to lighter, sweeter crude oils.

So, if their oil wasn't as difficult to deal with you might be swayed?

Although Venezuelan oil is indeed sour with a higher sulfur content, U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast (Chevron, Valero, etc.) are more than capable of processing it. They process hundreds of thousands of barrels of it per day.

In fact, volumes hit a six-year high last December reaching 300,000 bpd.

I was just reading about COP.

Quote:

What Is COP?

COP stands for Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
It's an annual summit where nearly 200 countries negotiate climate action, review progress, and set future goals.
COP28 was the 28th such meeting, following COP27 in Egypt.

The Kyoto Protocol came out of COP3 in 1997.
The Paris Agreement replaced Kyoto and came out of COP21 in 2015.
Its central goal is to limit global warming to well below 2C, ideally 1.5C, above pre-industrial levels.
It requires all countries to submit Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)their own climate action plansand update them every five years.

I think Trump was supported big time in his election campaigns by Big Oil, specifically Koch.
Drill Baby Drill is a rallying cry of those who don't get environmentalism in favor of perception of 'Merica. That's marketing campaign (propaganda) worked to win over "low information" electorate.

Trump paid back by immediately withdrawing from Paris upon both inaugurations. (Biden re-entered.)

Trump wants the transcontinental pipeline - because his backers do.

And Trump knows nothing about the oil in Venezuela, but his backers do.

Trump campaigned against high gas prices, but his backers don't want low prices. We won't see low gas prices.

Trump has worked to kill off the solar industry via tariffs and killing subsidies. Solar is a major competitor to Big Oil.

So, beware Military Industrial Complex?
Sure!
But also beware Big Oil!!

I know you don't believe in the basic global warming caused by industrialization theory. But I did listen to portions of this dense book. Now I see there's a film summary.
Anyways, big oil is interested in selling more oil, period. And they support politicians financially. They expect a return on their investment.

Keeping control of Venezuela not only assists control of USA production, but keeps other names (China) out.
Latin America is in "our" sphere.

China is aligning the Emerging Economies in Africa and Latin America. USA is in global retreat.

Yes, it's unprecedented.
And imagine if other nations similarly wiped. Our businessmen who sell items in their countries which they don't want.

The international response of condemnation is muted because Trump is such an incredible wild card.

Can you not see the difference? Biden (and now Trump after they understand reality) supported UKRAINE who was on the receiving end of Russian aggression. We can have an academic debate (oh have we) about whether or not Ukraine misunderstood the strategic situation and should or should not have been more deferential to Russian interests given what they knew 3 years ago. It is sorta like blaming Poland for not ensuring a land cooridor to East Prussia.

But fundamentally NO Americans have lost their lives in Ukraine (except I am sure for contractors and mercenaries). There almost assuredly would be in a conflict in Venezuela. Moreover, at 30 million people we will own the almost inevitable emergence of an insurgency movement against whatever regime succeeds the current one. As we saw in Iraq - it is brutally difficult to keep oil assets safe from an insurgency. If we break it we own it.

Progressives overwhelmingly supported the Spanish-American War, the world wars, and the "vital center" Democrats supported the entire Cold War. Then after the Cold War they were ready to go in Bosnia, Serbia, and a long list of other places.

Antiwar? Don't make me laugh.

The left has always recognized the revolutionary potential of war. You think Mao Tse-Tung was "antiwar"?

Progressive intellectuals urged U.S. intervention into World War I in part because they knew it would undermine American fidelity to the free market, and begin the process of government management of the economy and society. These people were not "antiwar."

Quote:

"You know, if there had been an earthquake over there, we would all be tears and pity about it. But when they're incinerated alive? Nothing. These people are treated like human garbage.

"And I just decided at that point: I'm not doing this anymore. I don't believe what you are telling me. I don't believe your phony baloney reasons for your wars, and I'm done making excuses for them.

"Because unlike the regime, I really do believe in absolute moral standards.

Yep, all of the above.

You might not know this from corporate media, but Maduro offered to sell the U.S. all the oil it wants. "You can have it," he said. But obviously, that's not enough for Narco Rubio & the MIC.

The primary reason for wanting regime change in Venezuela is because the Voters of so many nations in Central & South America keep making the "wrong" decisions when they choose their leaders. They keep electing "Socialists" & "Communists" (i.e., any leader who thinks that their nation's people should benefit from their nation's resources).

The real reason for all this is so eloquently stated by none other than Maria Corina Machado:

Thanks for chiming in Putin88. Your whataboutism is duly noted and I hope you get some reward.

I'm not aware of Obama ordering additional strikes for the purpose of killing people that were already attacked and rendered incapable of action and could have been easily taken into custody. But don't let that stop your propaganda efforts.

As far as the innocent people killed in the Greater War on Terror by Bush, Obama, and Trump, it will forever be a national disgrace.

Exactly.

Here's an article that's non-partisan & straight to the point:

Trump's Kill List, Brought To You By Obama And Cheney
To kill alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean, the Trump administration is weaponizing a power grab forged by Dick Cheney and expanded by Barack Obama.

https://www.levernews.com/trumps-kill-list-brought-to-you-by-obama-and-cheney/

by David Sirota

Back when Obama did his Kill List / murder by drone, the Republicans criticized Obama & the Dems for doing exactly what they had criticized the Cheney administration for doing.

It was a fair critique.
