From yesterday's WSJ, a local couple from Lafayette finds out that their ACA premiums will increase 550%
It looks like you're still clipping articles from old newspapers at the bar?
WRONG again.
It was from yesterday's WSJ.print edition.
Here's a free link for those unable to afford a great newspaper.
You're welcome!

But the color balance is off. It must be worthless information!
Yeah, taken at my local brewpub with sketchy outdoor lighting.
And of course, the print edition can often time be slightly different than the online edition.

This is a good thread!
Yogi has NOTHING of substance. Kind of like Barely Schools Teacher. Lots of bias and emotion and opinions but without substance or fact.
But I really had to laugh at this picture. Hilarious!
First, the couple is from Lafayette, so you know they are well off.
Second, it said he's retired at 64???
Not bad, chap!
As a "business consultant"?
I'm guess he's had his money a long time through some minor windfall and that's a made up title to support his various projects.
Third, look where the photo was taken! Old European cobblestone streets.
I'm guessing Holland?
They look so well groomed and healthy, vacationing around, but then they are on the subsidized public health plan.
WHY?
Because it's a good f-ing deal!!
I know, I've been on it, currently not.
They've likely got a couple million docked away in cash and investments are have simply arranged to be on ACA because it makes financial sense.
ACA subsidies are calculated on current year INCOME, not overall wealth level.
So, what I'm saying is - they are working the system!!!
And sadly, that's an indictment of ACA.
Subsidies should be there to support the downtrodden, not the European-vacationing retired-at-64 class.
But do you think wealth re-distribution policies are supported in the USA?
No. Not so much. So they offer it to everyone on less than ideal standards, and then even the dumb people who it actually would help don't understand how to take advantage of it because they've simply heard from "others" (political influencers who operate in opinion and not fact) that it's bad.
I know… like I said… I've been down the ACA road, know it well.
I've also been to Europe, too.
"Oh, honey, the newspaper wants us to submit a photo of ourselves for the story. Which one do you want to send?"
(They should have used the one where he's laid up in the hospital following some procedure.)
