California's future is great. Red states mired in bad environmental conditions, low economic and educational opportunities, and high crime, not so much

I might be a California resident by then and look forward to having a vote

Something vague about Swalwell I'm not too crazy about. Just seems very calculating, not authentic. Sort of a Kamala Harris type. Would vote for him, in a pinch (like I did her).

You can be like Adam Schiff and stay put where you are and run for California Senator.

He's the kind of guy I would avoid at a bar, there is something about him you're right. I'm not quite sure what it is but it sets of my alarm bells. Him being a democrat doesn't help but that's not what I'm talking about. Some people just have vibes and his isn't a good one.

Does it really matter if you move to California? It apparently doesn't matter to California politicians or their residents for that matter.

I'm for it, I can buy a Tesla on my phone. Do all my banking on a phone. Order dinner to be delivered by my phone. Pay my kid's tuition on my phone. Why not something simple like voting?

We should be able to vote by phone, but there would need to be a paper trail to back it up for post-election audits. If it's safe to bank on your phone, it's equally safe to vote by phone.

So vote from your computer then or whatever device you're using right now.

I would never vote by phone for the same reason that I'd never vote using a voting machine.

There is still NO WAY to verify that your vote, from a voting machine, was counted correctly.

Always, always, ALWAYS VOTE ON PAPER.

It's easy to create a paper trail for voting by phone, or by voting machine.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to verify that the app (or web app, or software) counted your vote correctly.

ALL voting machines suffer from this [what should be a] fatal flaw.

The gold standard for democracies throughout the world, and recognized by international election observers, is
  • Hand-marked paper ballots,
  • Counted by humans at the voting precinct, with the vote-counting process open to the public;
  • Voting results posted first on the door of the local precinct, then reported to the County or municipality.
Voting machines, especially those with proprietary software, are an open invitation to election fraud & abuse.

Voting by computer or phone, or voting by machine, isn't just a 'No', but a 'HELL No!'.

I take it that you haven't heard of Pegasus...

================================

Who says it's "safe" to bank on your phone?

The primary purpose of your smartphone is NOT to help you do things; its primary purpose is to collect your personal information, so that you can be more easily controlled.

IF you value your privacy and your personal information, then NEVER shop, bank, or do financial transactions on your phone.

Smartphone apps have full access to your Contacts, your Photos/Media, your location, all the other devices on your network, etc. That's why banks & stores & businesses all want you to use their app. Remember: If it's free to use, then you're the product.

Here's some food for thought for you.

There's no way RIGHT NOW for you to verify that your vote was counted correctly. The only thing you get from that little tear off stub from your ballot is that you can verify which vote was yours.

The reason we have the voting system we have now is to make it easier to prevent people from voting.
