The U.S. started a War with Iran with NO PLAN to keep the Strait open.

Trump is stupid.

The Dumbest Commander in Chief in my Lifetime, bar none.

Supposedly his top military brass warned him about Iran closing the strait (they have been gaming this for decades), but he disregarded the advice because Venezuela went so well (and also Netanyahu told him to).

Hey, who knew?!?

The next month or so is going to be very telling about whether Trump is merely an idiot who was talked into a starting a very ill-advised war, or if he is really compromised by Israel and will keep taking his marching orders from Tel Aviv plunging the US and the world economy into the abyss.

Yup.
Definitely sounds like Trump is "very close" to a deal with Iran.

Good news for some here. We now may blow up Oman.
Was not on my bingo card. But please get with it and post some memes and stuff from abuse and erection wizard explaining why this is a good idea.

Forget the headline, what do you have to say about the content here, Kent's short statements about the war and US policy being driven by Israel.

I have the same opinion as I had the few times you posted Kent's stuff before. Israel is our ally in the region, and we have been committed for a long time to protect them from the terrorist threats around them, which are mostly funded by Iran. Attacking Iran, without coalition support, was a bad idea because, although the cause is noble, Iran is willing to destroy our allies' infrastructure and civilian ships in the region, which is something we cannot handle. They also have an excellent propaganda game, as evidenced by your posts. If Israel purposely misled us to believe that Iran would fold after out initial attack, shame on them. Israel certainly is not immune to criticism.

I don't reduce it to that and still support our efforts. War is bad. There rarely are winners.

Knowing that war is bad and there are rarely winners (especially when it comes to Americas experience in the Middke East) why do you have any confidence in Trump and his attack on Iran?

Trump's an azz... and we're seeing it play out on the world stage. How embarrassing. As sort of a defense, he can say that he's not the first POTUS to be played like a fool by the Iranians. Both parties!

Geez, put a Cal PEIS guy like me in there; I'd know what to do. (Hint: Start by learning a little history.)

"The Iran war has exacerbated a shortage of missile-defense weaponry that is likely to plague the U.S. and its partners, from Ukraine to Taiwan, for years to come, Axios' Dave Lawler and Colin Demarest write.

Why it matters: The conflict is draining weapons stockpiles far faster than American factories can replace them, leaving the Pentagon and its allies scrambling to ramp up production and find cheaper alternatives.

The report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies finds the U.S. used so many interceptors from missile defense systems like Patriot and THAAD in the Middle East that stockpiles won't be replenished until 2029.

And that's if the war doesn't resume.

The math is stark: The U.S. took delivery of just 172 Patriot interceptors in fiscal year 2026 and has used more than 1,000 in the Iran war, according to CSIS.

The Pentagon insists it's maintained enough capability to defend the U.S. and prosecute the Iran war."

You have to be more specific in your question if you want a more detailed answer. I will, however, state that we have flown 10,000 missions in Iran and only have had 25 drones lost or damaged and 17 planes lost or damaged with most being damaged and not lost. It is a remarkable success rate. So, when folks spout Iranian propaganda that we are getting our butts kicked and that gas is higher than it actually is, I will correct their treasonous lies.

This whole war of choice is based on treasonous lies.

And... it's been perpetrated by people who have lived through (or, at the minimum, should be very aware of) wars based on an exaggerated or even completely made-up premise ("weapons of mass destruction" for Iraq... Gulf of Tonkin for Vietnam).

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, I should be starting to detect a pattern here.
Fool me three effing times, shame on me.

Ok, I will be more specific.

You cite military achievements on the battlefield and the "remarkable success rate"
But that has nothing to do with an actual OUTCOME of the war.

This is confirmed by the fact that there continues to be no "agreement/deal" with Iran.
This is in stark contrast to the military domination that we've seen by the U.S.

I will rephrase my question to be more specific:

What confidence do you have in Trump that he will be able to negotiate an outcome that not only opens the Strait of Hormuz, but also destroys Iran's enriched uranium and their nuclear capability?

To make things simple, give me a number on a Scale of 1 - 10 that reflects your confidence in Trump being able to achieve the above 3 goals.

Thanks.
