The Houthis now control the Yemeni side of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
This is the southern gateway to the Red Sea, and Suez Canal.

This is clearly problematic given that it reduces supplies thru a second major transit corridor.

In a statement Friday, the Houthi armed forces boasted of gains along the coast without mentioning the island, Mokha or the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. They vowed "escalation for escalation" in the confrontation with Saudi Arabia, while declaring that "maritime navigation is safe for all companies except for Saudi vessels."

"Last resort"?

Yes

You make a very compelling argument.

I can't understand why Brent Crude traded as high as $109 today.

Our President told us that we have TOTAL CONTROL of the Straight.

And our Energy Secretary told us that 10 million barrels per day on avg have been moving thru the Strait in the past week.

Still asking where is the proof that Iran is no longer funneling the Houthis money.
You offered zero substantiation or "source" for your claim.

Based on the last couple of weeks, the Houthis don't seem to be strapped for cash. They've captured tens of millions worth of military equipment from Saudi-backed forces and are now in position to charge tolls for passage through the Bab El Mandab.

Iran certainly has upped the ante on Washington.
It would be "foolish" to claim otherwise.

The attack on the pipeline just as the Houthis were strengthening their hold on that very choke point shows this operation was an Iranian counter-move, designed to sabotage Saudi oil exports.

So far, Iran's venture has succeeded. Once the oil in storage at Yanbu has been loaded, Saudi Arabia will have to suspend its Red Sea exports until the pipeline is repaired, which could take weeks.

The world will lose about 4 per cent of its oil, in addition to the longstanding disruption of the Strait of Hormuz, explaining why the price of a barrel of Brent crude has risen by 10 per cent in the last week to $107.

By driving up the oil price, Iran's leaders want to impose a cost on the US economy and make gasoline more expensive before the mid-term elections in November.

Most importantly, Iran also aims to wreak enough destruction to compel Saudi Arabia to use its influence in Washington to urge Trump to settle the conflict. And Iran's price for any de-escalation calling off the Iraqi militias and restraining the Houthis would certainly include the lifting of America's blockade of its oil exports.

So this is how Iran is trying to break Trump's stranglehold. And there is plenty more that the Islamic Republic's leaders might do. They could, for example, resume firing ballistic missiles at the other Gulf states with the twin goals of forcing the oil price still higher and inducing more US allies to implore Trump to reach a new peace agreement.

Iran is trying to break Trump's stranglehold by hitting him where it hurts

I thought there might be a reason this was clipped down to just 8 seconds, so here's the full interview. There's a Trump clip that plays at about 1:45 that leads into her comments:

"Let's get this done" refers to Trump's promise to end the war, she's saying he needs to actually do it and not wait until after the election. She then goes on to say the war was preventable if the Iran deal (JCPOA) hadn't been ripped up. This hardly represents support for the war.

This should not be mistaken for me saying Pelosi sounds good in this interview. I think she mostly sounds bad and very clearly a politician past her prime (and her best skill was never interviews or messaging anyway). But this selective clip is clearly designed as engagement bait.

LOL at your framing. Not once does she say the war was a bad idea. Her complaint was merely that it didn't get done on the timeline he promised. She also repeats the lie that Iran was working on a nuclear weapon. She wants this war won instead of ended.

She goes on to describe Obama's work as masterful, but then this is the woman who thinks she and Obama fixed health care so I'm sure she'd say anything he did was masterful.

There was a bill on the floor and Barbara Lee had to cast a vote. Nothing performative about casting a vote. And her vote was wrong. That doesn't mean Bush didn't completely screw up the war.

I think performative actions to make a point and be heard are good. But you and others always criticize them when you don't like the people involved. I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy. I like what Massie did.

I wonder what a Bernie Sanders supporter like Yogi would say about Bernie's highly "performative" BS when it comes to his legislative "efforts". Look no further than his proposed amendments to the Inflation Reduction Act, which he knew would have torpedoed the deal, but he made a PAGEANT out of them anyway.

His proposed Amendments got voted down 99 to 1, 97 to 3, 99 to 1, 98 to 1, and 97 to 1.
He was the lone vote.
