I wanna say they downgraded the '89 quake to something like 6.9

But that was on the San Andreas fault. We are waiting for The Big One on the Hayward fault, the one that runs through the East Bay hills and right under Memorial Stadium. Not as big of a fault as the San Andreas, but they are expecting something in the neighborhood of 6.5-7.0 any decade now. Could be tomorrow, could be in 2050, but it's coming.
