BREAKING: U.S. Secret Service Breaks into Massachusetts Hair Salon and Tapes Over Security Camera, Allegedly to Let People Use the Bathroom During Kamala Harris Fundraiser

However, what transpired next left Powers feeling violated and betrayed. According to Powers, Secret Service agents took it upon themselves to enter her locked salon, use her bathroom, and tamper with her security camerasall without her consent.

Security footage obtained by Business Insider showed a female Secret Service agent taping over the lens of a Ring security camera located at the salon's entrance.

The agents then proceeded to break into the salon, triggering the security alarm and using the facilities for nearly two hours before leaving the building completely unsecured.

This should be front page news.

Obviously, this is just a tiny part of the proceedings, but it sounds like the guilty party will serve "up to one half" of the 20 months in prison and then will be released to serve the rest of the sentence elsewhere (at home?) if he behaves himself. That's somewhat different than 20 months in prison.

Of course the 500 pound gorilla that the tweet omitted is what the guy posted to social media. I can think of one or two things that might merit some jail time.

Right, only 10 months in jail for his tweet, that's cool.

Over 3,000 people who were jailed in George Orwell's UK for thoughtcrimes last year.

So what did he tweet? That makes a big difference. I might agree with you about it being a harsh sentence, but so far so you've avoided saying what was in the tweet.

London murders surpass New York - 1st time in 200 years?

The UK looking to criminalize carrying a knife. Maximum enforcement.

Joe Rogan - short clip; isn't unfettered immigration grand?

What constitutes a legal knife one can carry is all over the map in different parts of the US: length of blade, if it locks, how it opens, etc.

I don't usually like to post a video or article to make my point as part of a discussion, but I think this is quite articulate and eloquent, and in large part answers your question, maybe not in THAT specific case, but what's happened in others. It's well worth the 9 minute watch.

Maybe in the UK, but a few would not be enough in New York, apparently. In 2016, the NYC Human Rights Commission approved a list of 31 gender identities for use in business.

Yeah, I've heard stuff like that, but I'm having a hard time imagining more than a half dozen genders. Okay, maybe a dozen? All right, two dozen. But 31?!? Just seems like a lot of genders. I guess I could look it up, but do I really want to know?

Funny story: I grew up in the '60s and '70s... when I was a little kid, my grandfather once told me there were only two genders! Of course, when he was in his prime, there had only been 20-something US Presidents, so I get it. There's more of everything now!

This was a fascinating discussion with Jonathan Haidt, a social scientist from NYU, on the effects of social media and smart phones with our young kids and how we're already seeing the negative effects of it on gen z. Particularly with how you see it's effects on females vs males. I have a lot of thoughts after watching it, but I am hoping others give it a watch because it's pretty fascinating.

I agree with him that for young men, they seem to be checking out of society much more now and their socializing almost all comes thru video games and social apps which is going to have much more negative effect in their ability to deal with with real world problems they will encounter. It's scarier for females, as it seems they internalize social media like facebook etc, much more and it's impacting their self worth so much which is increasing suicidality among their peer groups. Haidt thinks our society is heading for a steep decline in marriage and child bearing if we don't deal with these issues, but also says he is starting to see some changes in our schools regarding smart phones in schools etc. I'm curious if some of you have seen these changes. Anyway I really hope you guys watch it and share your thoughts.

I think society will look back on the current era of unfettered access to smartphones for young people as incredibly damaging and negligent. I have seen and dealt with the struggles in my own household (2 teenagers). When I was a kid, if you got in trouble, you were grounded (couldn't go out and about). Now you punish a kid by taking away screen time. You might punish them by forcing them to go out and about. I can't say much about girls because my daughter does not use social media a lot. She still uses her screen too much but nothing like my son. My son, and other boys, seem to be completely addicted to video games. You can limit it, you can fight the fights and barter (if you do this you can have x hours of screen time). It is an obsession and young people are full of anxiety because any mistake they make is permanently logged. A personal memory that revolted me was seeing the whole middle school boys baseball team walk away from practice individually, walking off the field, staring at their phones. I push activities on my kids to get them away from screens and then you see that and it feels helpless. I can't wait until they can drive (17 in New Jersey) and get jobs. Free time is a bad thing, as terrible as that is to say.

Schools need to ban smart phones entirely. Until that happens, parents are limited because if you take phones away from your teenager, you have made them a pariah. I honestly feel bad for my kids, growing up in this environment. I saw a lot more trouble and danger than they have at their age. I'd take my experience over theirs.

And let's be honest. Parents aren't good role models. Our whole society is addicted. Myself included.

Yeah my childhood was spent always hanging out with friends, we use to do sleepovers and sleep in tents in the backyard lol. We were addicted to sports so we always head out to the park to play football or basketball at the school, Of course most of us were in little league baseball too. I was hardly ever home and we'd play till it was dark out. Yes we did stupid things too like going out into a dry field and building a campfire and hanging out, I'm really shocked we didn't set the field on fire haha. But I think that was a pretty normal childhood for most GenX.

I watched way too much tv as a kid. But I didn't have that option at school or out of the house. As a teenager I went out more and did things - got drunk and whatnot. These days you can live next door to a 16-17 year old and never see them. Never see their car go in or out. Never hear loud noises. Just preparing for our Matrix futures.

A young acquaintance was on her phone driving, and ran into a wall, making her disabled.

A friend's daughter went into convulsions and was talking to herself when her phone was taken away. Scored top 5% on the ACT while hung over with little sleep, yet struggled to pass basic high school classes. Has spent tears flunking out of JC classes, but passed feminist studies. ** It's a mixture of smart phones, energy drinks, pornography, video games, supercharged pot, tattoos, and kids swapping prescribed drugs and girls / guys randomly hooking up at raves / kickbacks. **

I had dinner with a friend the other night, a LEO. He hadn't heard of grooming gangs. As I explained what they were, briefly, he was reading the paper. I considered that rude, so I stopped talking. Ten seconds later he told me, "I can multi task". He also obsessively flips through his phone to see if his GF has texted him.

I was in a McDonald's in the Central Valley and saw an amazing sight, a group of people talking, no phones. Then I realized - they're all over 70!

PRO TIP: take your kids out to lunch or dinner, phones in the middle of the table. They access their phone, THEY PAY FOR THEIR OWN MEAL.

P.S. Your phones listen to everything, and link to Google / other. It happens real time. Creepy.
