Even I have to admit this latest news is shady. Here in blue New Jersey a school district crafted a very specific law about purchasing a book which just happens to match a book by Hillary Clinton. I'm for public school funding. It's part of why I'm a democrat. Not sure I want it being funneled to politicians - even politicians I like.

In 2023, the USG paid an eye-popping $658 billion in interest on its debt. (This was a increase from $475 billion in 2022.) The CBO projects that interest costs jump to $892 billion in 2024.

The CBO further projects that the federal government will pay more than $1 trillion in net interest costs yearly starting in 2029.

The next decade its estimated we'll spend $12.9 trillion just on interest payments to the debt.

Our Navy is in international waters (I think) serving a legitimate mission. The Houthis fire on them repeatedly. Again, they shoot at our service members, not just the maritime shipping. Shooting at our military should be a death sentence. Shame on Biden for letting them be sitting ducks for so long and good on him for finally doing something about it.

WASHINGTON Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas set off outrage Wednesday when he told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) "does not have the funds" to see Americans through the rest of this Atlantic hurricane season after the agency spent more than $1.4 billion since the fall of 2022 to address the migrant crisis.

"We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have," Mayorkas said during a press gaggle on Air Force One en route to tour damage from Hurricane Helene in South and North Carolina.
