This explains one item that baffled the esteemed and colorful Dr. Bill Wattenburg of LLL and KGO Radio.

One of his unorthodox solutions to starving - and hunted - villagers in Afghanistan - was to drop granola bars from 50,000 feet from a C-130 transport aircraft.

When a travesty hit Haiti, he suggested dropping water bottles into the surf during an appropriate time (tides going in) - to supply them w fresh water. He thought it should be a SOP to aid people in need.

The problem is that his SOP cuts out the middle men and graft, which is why even ten years ago they said it cost $65 to deliver a meal to a starving person in one of these areas.

That's how the granola bar 'invention' transpired. Dr. Bill noted the 'maximum velocity' factor, and to be sure, they tested granola bars dropped from 50,000 feet onto land. (When a granola bar company heard about it, they donated 600,000 bars.) Dr. Bill also developed a home-made "chain matrix" with various hooks to de-mine vast swatches of land in the Gulf War.

Most. I don't really know Brother from Another Planet at all, and I know of Once Were Warriors but have not seen. The rest I have seen and enjoyed to varying degrees.

Brother from Another Planet was rec by Siskel and Ebert. Low budget, the great Joe Morton plays a deaf alien. Several great special effects, social commentary, old-school Harlem.

We Were Warriors tough. If a woman watches it w you, GIVE HER A WARNING. Tough scenes to watch.
