The people who took over a church to protest were in the wrong, but how exactly is Don Lemon at fault?

Colluding. He was with the group before they went in, he knew what they were going to do and went in with them. I agree it's a bit shaky as he's a "journalist" but that's my understanding as of now

He's also on camera saying the "protest's" goal was trauma and intimidation, which he participated in

Okay, now I want someone to explain to me how this is different from Trump's conduct on Jan 6.

Trump didn't go in. That's a pretty big difference for starters.

That's about the only difference. And Lemon "went in" to report on the event, right?

I just think that it's really ludicrous for people to have gone on about Biden and the Democrats' grave violations of free speech in talking to social media platforms and meanwhile Trump's government does this stuff and it's all A-OK. Come on now.

The protestors freedom of speech doesn't supersede the church goers freedom of speech and religion.

That's not the issue. Prosecute them, fine. Threatening a reporter for being on the scene is something else.

Apparently two things are true here:

1. Don Lemon is a loser has-been who no one should care about.

2. Don Lemon is also worthy of major attention from the DoJ.

The one does not follow from the other, IMO.

It does when he interrupts a religious service and potentially breaks federal law.

Not a good weekend for a Louisville/Georgia Tech roadie.

I say this as someone who tried getting to work one night in freezing rain and realized about 6 blocks from home that I was going to total my car if I kept trying to go down hills. I couldn't get back home either, so I spent the night in my car in 30 degree weather. A passerby with a 4 wheel drive pickup gave me a ride home about 6:30 the next morning. It was 2 days before I could retrieve my car. In that time, someone slid into my parked car and did about $2000 damage to the rear fender. No note of course.

Spent last weekend in Disneyworld, Orlando. 50 degrees at night and no line for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which gets you mildly wet. We did it - that's warm for us.

Got home to 3 degrees and snow on the driveway.

FWIW:

"More whites were brought as slaves to North Africa than blacks brought as slaves to the United States or to the 13 colonies from which it was formed. White slaves were still being bought and sold in the Ottoman Empire, decades after blacks were freed in the United States."

So you're suggesting slavery wasn't that bad because whattaboutism?

Also, I don't see how this qualifies as Breaking News. Sowell's quote is old enough to buy drinks in a bar.

Maybe the descendants of European slaves should petition Africa and the ME for reparations.

Yes, slaves existed in many societies throughout human history and it was not only Black people who were enslaved.

In the United States it was basically only Blacks who were enslaved. That's unique to our country. I've never lived in the Ottoman Empire.

Yes, but at least you live in a country where there may still be downstream effects of Black slavery. Harder to make that argument for white slavery in North Africa.

One who was not the descendant of a slave!

But of course, one Black president out of 45 doesn't really disprove anything!

And none of us here owned slaves and most Americans aren't descendants of slave holders.

It disproves that black people can't do the same things white people can do because of systemic racism

Yes, we had a half Black President who's wife and family got perks like every other POTUS. I'm glad he survived eight years, but he took race relations back decades with his victimhood whining.

Germany about face on nuclear power.

German Chancellor Merz admits shutting down Nuclear Energy Production was a "Severe Strategic Mistake"

"So, we are now undertaking the most expensive energy transition in the entire world," Merz said with pronounced frustration. "I know of no other country that makes things so expensive and difficult as Germany."

Germany is the largest economy in the EU and the industrial base. On top of this, what can Germany do in AI if they run on windmills and solar panels?

Add in China and a new trade reality with the USA, Germany is in a tough position. China is also using monies from the EU, who bought Chinese carbon credits, to drop the price of their EVs they're selling in the EU, undercutting the Euros.

Remember more than 5 years ago when the German delegation laughed at Trump for claiming they will be dependent on Russian energy?

"in the United States it was basically only Blacks who were enslaved" is not true.

American Indians were often held as slaves, primarily by other tribes. These were usually taken in battle or by raids, often as booty after a battle or raid. This was likely going on long before the first white man (or black man) arrived in America. Tribes like the Comanche, Pawnee, Yurok, Utes, Paiutes, Navajo, and Klamath also practiced slavery.

It is true that American Indian tribes often held black slaves, and the Five Civilized Tribes, including the Cherokee Nation, established formal slave codes, adopting chattel slavery and its rules from white settlers.

It was also true in each of the 13 colonies, that some blacks held other blacks as slaves. One study found that there were 3,777 Negro slave owners who held Negro slaves in the United States.

I would consider slavery between Indian tribes to have predated and operated outside of the formation of the United States, but thanks for the history lesson.
