I wanna say we tried this a few decades ago. What happened to kill it will probably happen again:

In the winter, it won't be fully light out until, what, 8 AM? Some young girl, probably blond, will be walking to school or waiting for the school bus at 7:45 and something bad will happen to her. Maybe it would have happened even if it had been fully light out, maybe not, but the morning darkness will be blamed.

I doubt that Daylight Savings Time 365 will last more than one winter.

This will cause disruption on the magnitude of y2k. Where is everyone sheltering in place?

I saw something recently that was talking about a way to fix this with moving some states time zones back or forward once and then keeping it like that. I'll try and find the graphic. It made the time zones look wonky but solved the issues you're talking about.

That was another possible move: some of the states on the western edge of a time zone would move to another time zone. There are probably too many states on Eastern Time anyway!

Probably!

I do feel like if this passes we'll see a repeat of what happened in the 70s, which was people being upset about the long darkness in winter mornings (particularly for kids going to school) and everything being reverted back real quick. I do think it would net-net be better to not change clocks anymore but people don't really think through all of the consequences of that. Conversely, if you kept Standard Time year-round you'd have some VERY early sunrises in the summer months which could also mess with people's sleep schedules.

This is probably not as big of an issue in California since we're just kind of in the middle of our time zone, but for some of these states like Indiana and Michigan that are on the edge of Eastern Time, that's where you'd see problems.

I am not especially a fan but a) I was taught not to talk ill of the dead; and b) anyone that serves 30 years in the military and who adopts / raises their 13 year old sister at 21 years of age because their parents die has earned some level of respect.

I think this is pretty funny how many states did the whole "block oil pipelines" thing to puff their chest out about how stunning and brave they are on the environment and then the leaders completely memory hole the whole thing in order to get into the whole "I know how you're feeling" schtick.
