Trump is the worst POTUS in the lifetime of anyone that has ever lived from George Washington's presidency to the present time. He is also the most corrupt……and history will adjudge him so.
Nah, Bush Jr was way worse- we are still dealing with his disasters. Trump is mostly inconsequential
I understand your point. Bush Jr was conventionally bad in an unmatched way in our lifetime. Trump is unconventionally bad in a way that threatens and weakens the Republic (attacking elections, atracking the media, copying up with dictators, grifting for billions of dollars).
Lots of people here voted for them 5 times and will claim to have good judgment.
Pretty much everything Trump has been done can be reversed.
Not so sure.
Okay, our foreign relations might be easy: "That was Trump; he was a one-off. Let's wipe the slate clean."
The tariffs? Just reverse then. Same with spending priorities.
But ethical standards, selfless behavior and respect for institutions seem like they are easy to degrade but hard to build back up.
You think all that just happened with Trump? It's been bipartisan rot for decades
Bankers rape the country nothing happens
Bush and Cheney rape the country nothing happens
Epstein rapes everyone, nothing happens
A brain dead President and the government assures us he's sharp as a tack until a presidential debate.
Take a look at what polls say about our institutions, they've been on the skids for a long time, our " democracy" as well.
I think there is a significant difference between the two sides. Not to say that the Dems always occupy the moral high ground... referring more to policies. In terms of morality, though, we've reached a new low with DJT.
I get that InstitutionalistBear is an entirely different poster.
Morality is entirely subjective. Many would argue Biden was the lowest tier of morality when he wasn't even actually acting as president. Or when he flooded the borders. Or when he and his team skirted the democratic system and put Kamala in as the dem candidate.
I'm pretty sure Biden's team wanted him to be the candidate, not Kamala. The rest of the party coalesced around her as the best option, given the short runway.
I don't remember Biden or his team speaking out against it as the leader of the democratic party
Once he stepped out of the race he was no longer the leader of the party. And let's not be cute and act like he stepped down entirely of his own accord. It was intense pressure from everyone else that got him to step down.
Got him to step down and shut up. He played along like a good boy. Very democratic. Such a moral party those dems are.
He played himself out of the job with that debate performance.
I'm not suggesting any of this was moral. It was about having the best chance of winning, as all political parties try to do.
I don't debate that but the post was in relation to morality so I'm glad we agree there
So if we're going to talk about morality and protecting the democratic system then we should also talk about the degrees of difference between swapping out a party nominee because the existing one has either dropped out or been incapacitated and trying to overturn the results of the actual final vote.
There were no systematic attempts to try and overturn the results. There were individuals who marched on the Capitol. The Republican party didn't collude to bypass our Democratic systems.
