Because I find that people tend to be very slippery in their definitions, wanting to call something racist when it's directed at them but not when they direct it at someone else. I thought it would be useful to get directly from those I am arguing with (not you) exactly what they think constitutes a racist statement. Because I find that people tend to be very slippery in their definitions, wanting to call something racist when it's directed at them but not when they direct it at someone else. I thought it would be useful to get directly from those I am arguing with (not you) exactly what they think constitutes a racist statement. Without agreeing on some basic grounds there isn't much point in continuing to argue whether or not a particular statement in this thread was racist.
