asu honors college update: andre spright, one of bobby's jc scholars, is leaving the basketball team with the intent to transfer...spight is coming off a 21 point game vs ucla & a 15 point game vs arizona...them sun devils now got just 8 scholly players

andre is gonna probably miss the good times in tempe

bishop o'dowd's 6'8" freshmen (2019) raymond hawkins scored 9 points with 8 boards in his 1st high school game

lou richie told me he's the real deal, the potential to play at ivan rabb's level...like his efforts with young ivee, richie who is a true educator & a firm believer of his young men all becoming high character student athletes, is working overtime to provide hawkins with the necessary academic tutoring/mentoring to ensure a bright future for a young man from a challenging background

raymond hawkins, write the name down

in addition to raymond hawkins & 2018 flashy point guard elijah hardy, head coach/community leader lou richie also got 6'3" 170 lbs 2018 shooting guard naseem gaskin who is fluid & athletic with a moneyball free throw stroke...naseem's moms is 6'2" & he could grow into being an explosive wing

despite senior andrew andrews going off for 30 points washington (16-12/8-8) lost to oregon state (16-10/7-8) 82-81 as the huskies are in serious danger of missing the ncca tournament for the 5th year in a row...with andrews gone next season along with potentially murray and/or chriss too, romar is on the hot seat in seattle

criminal dana altman's oregon (22-6/11-4) breaking bad basketball enterprise got only 2 points from their bench in beating (in basketball, not life) the washington state cougars (9-19/1-15) 76-62 in eugene

san diego state (21-7) continues to beat up mountain west opponents (14-1 conference record for the aztecs) including wyoming (13-16), must be fun to wear the throne in a weak azz conference

team: ucla bruins

shockster 2015/2016 pac 12 prediction: 5th place

coach: steve "rapist enabler" alford

what you need to know about alford: did you know that he is a "rapist enabler?"

check out the orange county register article: "alford's past paints blurry character portrait"
http://www.ocregister.com/articles/alford-535065-indiana-basketball.html

if steve alford has not protected his star basketball player after he raped the 1st student, then the 2nd victim most likely would have been spared this violent crime

if alford had been a basketball coach at an iowa middle school rather than the head coach at the university of iowa, then he would be in a prison today for his documented role in enabling/facilitating a convicted rapist to escape justice all in the name of his winning a few more basketball games

alford then waited a decade to make an insince apology as mandated by the ucla athletic director during april of 2013:

"at that time i instinctively and mistakenly came to (pierece's) defense before knowing all the facts...i wanted to believe he was innocent and in response to a media question i publicly proclaimed his innocence before the legal system had run its course"

"that was inappropriate, insensitive and hurtful especially for the young female victim and i apologize for that"

"i have learned and grown from that experience and now understand that such proclamations can contribute to an atmosphere in which similar crimes go unreported and victims are not taken seriously"

why did alford wait over a decade to apologize?

does alford truly feel any responsibility for the 2nd rape victim because of his actions?

steve alford=dana altman=joe paterno

what up in westwood?: the bruins lose stabilizing team leader normal powell (16.4 ppg & 4.7 rpg) & inefficiently underutilized future nba 1st rounder kevon looney (11.6 ppg & to be sorely missed 9.2 rpg)...bryce "whose your daddy" alford (15.4 ppg), tony parker (11.5 ppg & 6.7 rpg) & isaac hamilton (10.6 ppg) were inconsistent last season & will be joined by blue chippers prince ali & aaron holiday & former cal recruit thomas welsh...team chemistry & ball movement along with defensive toughness could be real issues this upcoming season

steve alford's program is now also in the middle of a major academic cheating scandal
http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2015/10/11/report-former-ucla-adviser-alleges-academic-wr

what this means for the bears: cal is in numerous recruiting battles with ucla for key 2017 prospects but will steve alford still be the coach in westwood given the unrealistic expectations of the ucla donor base?

this is ucla basketball#

ucla is 15-12/6-8 including victories over both kentucky & arizona, they are a dangerous basketball team with a talented starting lineup

the bruins are led by 6'5" 185 lbs isaac hamilton (17 ppg with a lethal 40.9% on 3 pointers, he needs to be accounted for at all times), 6'3" 180 lbs mercurial coach's son bryce alford (16.1 ppg & 5.5 apg), 6'9" 260 lbs atlantan tony parker (12.7 ppg & 8.8 rpg), former cal recruit 7' 245 lbs thomas welsh (11.5 ppg with a highly efficient 59.8% on fgs & 8.2 rpg) & 6'1" 185 lbs aaron holiday (10.7 ppg with 41% on 3 pointers)

ucla's starting line up is arguably as good as anybody in the pac 12 but they got no depth, they can be worn down both physically & mentally...the bruins starters play a lotta minutes in big games, the bears gotta push tempo & make alford play his usually unproductive bench...cal also gotta attack the basket, if any ucla players get in foul trouble that will be an opportunity for coach martin's team to exploit...if the game is close it should be noted that tony parker is a 50% free throw shooter (62 out of 124 free throws)

but most importantly, the bears gotta bring energy & a fun attitude like little kids playing basketball on the playground with their best friends...cal fans gotta get to haas pavilion early or on time (don't be late, that's a weak move) for the 6:00 pm start (leave work early, tell everybody that you gotta go save the world & that you are on quest larger than life), our guys get amped up & play their best basketball when you are screaming from the ******* rooftops

Good post.
What are the match ups?
Who guards Hamilton? Jaylen or Bird?
Let's see:
Wallace v Alford
Bird/Mathews v holiday
Jaylen v Hamilton
Rabb v the 6'10" frosh wing
K2 v welsh/Parker

Hmmm. I could see Jaylen getting into foul trouble. He'd better be careful and move his feet. Hamilton should drive attack lean in and try to get J outa there. Maybe switch bird on him at times and bring singer in for holiday.

If UW moves on from Romar, would UW hire Decuire? Local ties, etc. Jaylen Nowell would then be a lock for UW...

good point but oregon state (if wayne tinkle moves on to stanford if johnny dawkins is fired) & washington state might have head coach openings that involve travis before washington potentially opens up

jaylen nowell is a high gpa student athlete, cal & stanford are both attractive options from an academic perspective...and of course there's always the basketball thing too...nowell has indicated his relationships with the selected college's staff will be a priority in his evaluation process

Actually, no joke or irony. Recruiting is too good if, because the coaching staff can't get the players to gel before they leave for the pros, their skills and talents insufficiently help the team. Washington seems the perfect example. I would say that all the players I saw against us last week, including those off the bench, were terrifically talented and skilled (as well as smart); and I have no idea why they have been losing games all season by one point or so. The only thing I can think of is the paradigm stated above - especially with reference to the really serious problems we have seen with Cuonzo trying to get our team to be able to apply its power as necessary to pull out victories, and seeing the extraordinary efforts and growth it has taken to get our team to the positive direction it is now on. Clearly: It's not automatic.

A thought that, maybe throwing a lot of our really good defenders at Hamilton, ad seriatim, might be helpful - fresh - run him off the court - minimize foul trouble. I'm thinking of Singer, Bird, Domingo, Moute, then Wallace and Jaylen
GoldenBear1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Moute and Domingo are X factors
They are playing their role.
They understand when they are in to bring lock down defensive energy and rebounding.
If teams ignore them they will make them pay.
If they start aggressively attacking the basket with their length and athleticism if forgotten by opponents look out.
This team still has room to grow.
We know our roles, time to see it all come together

gametime is not 6:15 pm

haas pavilion on the campus of the university of californa, berkeley is gonna be the epicenter of the universe tonite at 6:00 pm, that's when cal & ucla are gonna start the battle

let's do this (be on ******* time)#

the bears gotta play with energy tonite, they don't gotta play perfect basketball, life is not linear...guys gotta relentlessly defend every ucla 3 point attempt with a hand & a scream from deep within one's soul and push tempo, them california golden bears are at their very best when attacking the basket...and yeah, there's no ******* way that tony "no lift" parker can defend young ivee on the lob entry pass

but mostly let's do this with passion & a smile on our faces, ok?

t-wall & sammy, are you ready to lead your team into battle tonite?

jaylen, did you meditate today, are you balanced & ready to roll?

young ivee, moms is gonna be in the haas, let's do this

kam & the king, welsh is a skinny candy soft bitch compared to you guys

jabari, let it fly baby, nothing to fear

jordan, only a fool would **** wit you...creasy is gonna be in the haas

domingo & roger, ready to play relentless d & chase the shooters along with knocking down the open 3 point opportunities?

brandon, brenden, cole, roman & the nick bros, bench energy is critical, let's have fun & be ready if coach martin calls your name

How long do you want to ignore this user?

left to right, jabari "mama's boy" bird, jaylen "downward dog" brown, tyrone "where's my girlfriend?" wallace, kameron "let's ******* rumble" rooks & ivan "future" rabb

special nite for the 11,858 true california golden bears fans at haas pavilion including former cal/denver broncos running back cj anderson...cj told me that he loves going to cal basketball games to support his boy t-wall & that donald lasco got nfl potential

the bears defended & chased daddy's boy alford into a 4-13 field goals shooting nite, the bears free throw defense was even strong as bryce missed an uncharacteristic 4 free throws...but make no mistake about it, he's one truly ugly azz dude, he don't got the hair flair of tony parker that's for sure

not sure about the white towel promotion, gave my towel away to a homeless guy on durant who seemed more excited about it than me...maybe cal marketing should give away something really useful like a balloon or something next time

kameron battled for loose balls & rebounds tonite & swatted long rebound misses to his teammates, he's coming into his own...and for the 1st time this season, kam is actually talking with emotion on the court, trust me a ******* fired up sponge bob fan is a good thing at the krusty krab with kristy

jaylen had an extended conversation with bill walton during warm ups & continues to amaze with his development, his 10 rebounds tonite adds yet another dimension to the team

the game ball gotta go to the bird as he scored 20 points on a lights out 7-12 field goals & 5-8 3 pointers along with playing energized d unlike his salesian high school daze

yeah, it was yet another nite for the ages at haas pavilion, the great cal band even played my request for m83's midnight city...they cal band is like the piano player at the polo lounge at the beverly hills hotel taking requests, they definitely need a tip jar

so usc coming to haas pavilion on sunday nite at 5:00 pm for senior nite with t-wall & taylor's favorite player, b glapion...are you gonna be in the haas too?

utah (22-7/11-5) knocked the **** out of asu (14-14/4-11) with a 30-2 start & an eventual 81-46 clownpunking in salt lake city

st mary (23-4) strengthening cal's ncca selecting/seeding resume with a 75-50 mismatch over santa clara at the gaels tiny crack house in moraga, marco not gonna schedule a game with a team that got no room for cal's growing fan base
