Bears Add Speedy Acalanes WR Trevor Rogers

The Bears picked up their sixth commitment for the 2024 class with today’s verbal from 6-3/205 Acalanes (Lafayette, CA) High School wide receiver Trevor Rogers‍.

If the Rogers name sounds familiar, Rogers’ brother Chris has been a preferred walk-on receiver at Cal since 2019 for the Bears so the newest Bear has had plenty of exposure to the program.

“My brother played football at Cal, so I've known the coaches for a really long time,” Rogers said. “So they were probably some of the first coaches to start watching my film I so I really trust them.  They know what they want for me and what I’m capable of and they know what I need to work on and they know what I'm good at. So I think they know where my fit in the system would be. And I'm really excited about Coach Spav and his new offense coming in. I've been to practices that look really, really, really good. They're really explosive.”

“In high school here, very seldom does the first tackler ever bring him down,” veteran Acalanes head coach Floyd Burnsed noted. “He's strong and elusive and if we can throw the ball out to him and he's one-on-one or the corner, he's gonna win most every time. We were up at Shelton last year and they were playing laying off him because they knew he's fast. We threw a lot of quick stuff to him out there and Sheldon had some speed, too, but Trevor took a couple of them for touchdowns.

“He’s big, strong and fast. He rad a 4.53 down at the Nike camp recently.”

As a junior, Rogers put up big numbers for the 10-2 Dons, adding 58 receptions for 1120 yards (19.3 ypc) and 15 TDS for the season, including a long of 95 yards. Also exceptional on the track, Rogers was a part of Acalanes state-runner up 4x100 relay team that smashed the Lamorinda record with a blazing 40.96 and an impressive 23’ 4” in the long jump, finishing fourth.

Rogers becomes the sixth 2024 Cal commit this year, joining Pasadena TE Camden Jones‍ , Texas OT Tyler Knape‍, Texas DT Michael-Anthony Okwura‍, Texas ILB Eze Osondu‍ and Modesto safety Brooklyn Cheek‍.

Great athlete, great student, great family and great HS support. I am biased because we are locals and have been following his progression. Up to him now.

Just watched his video, I like his cutback ability for someone with his size.

Those were the guys I played with who were a class behind me. Unbelievable talent in that class. They beat De La Salle in the playoffs that year and had 5 Times Cream of the Crop players, which I don't think ever happened before or after.
