Playing top 25 team
Looks like good weather and hopefully clear (not smokey) skies
Masks optional outside
Pent-up desire to see a football game live?
Small crowds on early California games due to C-19 variants, heat or maybe lower fan interest after all this time?

I'm thinking 40 to 45K announced and 30K plus in the stands (sorta like the 32K announcesd for UCLA, most which were masquerading as empty seats).

I think 40-45k sounds right primarily because we will see a lot of Nevada fans. I'm sure they will find this trip to be both fun plus a chance to get away from the smoke.

Let's hope we don't give them a chance to celebrate outside if anything but fresh air.

Great weather expected but if there are 40k, it'll definitely be heavy with Nevada fans. I think 30k is most likely. The excitement abs anticipation for football (or anything in life) is waning as the 'rona keeps dragging on and on.

As flattering as this is, I feel like our presence on Saturday may be getting *slightly* exaggerated? At least, compared to what Ohio State, Ole Miss or USC has brought to Berkeley in recent history.

Football attendance has been declining all around the country, and that was before the global pandemic hit. If we sell our entire allotment of tickets, and can be heard and seen on the TV broadcast, I'll be satisfied.

They are good - rest assured they have some talent and always play P12 teams tough.

Living in Carmichael my wife & I won't be attending any late games. Of course being 79 doesn't help.

I'd say our current confidence level in a win is somewhere between "not at all" and "supremely confident." :-P

In all seriousness, with all the experience and talent coming back, the lingering sting of missing out on the MW title game last year, and the outside prognostications from national media, fans are both excited and wary of getting their hopes up again.

If you're one of the people who's not sold on this team -- not unreasonably -- you won't have to wait long to see if they're the real deal. The first month of the season is brutal: two P5 teams on the road sandwiched around their one home game in that span, followed by an inconvenient early bye week and opening their conference slate at Boise State, a team they haven't beaten on the road in 20+ years.

Basically, if they pull out a win at Cal, people will more or less have the green light to get *really* excited. But a loss, or a showing like that of Hawai'i yesterday, and the grumblings will start: "Welp, here we go again. Never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." Fair or not, people are putting a lot of weight on this game and what it could portend for the rest of the season.

My best guess, too. Leaning a bit to the 35k side, but with no real conviction.

Nevada is not a Top 25 team at this time. However, they may be by the end of the season.

Paid attendance (aka: announced figure): 30K-35K

A week ago I would not have expected Nevada to travel well, since they dont travel well to Reno.

But with the air quality and refugees up there now... might give them a reason to come down for a weekend.

At least 10 people in the stands. me and 9 others I am guessing.

30k max, fewer if there is even moderate smoke. The lack of Covid protocols will keep some people away.
I'll be watching on tv. I'm too old to make the 3 hr drive each way and get home at 2 am.

In retrospect I forgot this was an evening game. That does knock down the attendance, perhaps as much as 5K to 7.5K on actual attendance.

Get there early to find parking. There are parking restrictions in town on game days, so you will have to pay if you find a lot. The stadium is up at the top of campus - which means that you will have to walk up the hill. There is no parking directly around the stadium. It is a city in the sense that every spot costs you money and some quite a bit of money. You can park in some of the fraternities for cash - that is probably the best option for arriving late and trying to get as close as you can to the stadium.

Since the game is later in the evening, you can hang out in Berkeley and get a lot of great food around campus, or go down College avenue or Shattuck avenue to find great places to eat. There is a HUGE selection of places to eat.

You may want to refer to our burrito threads or our pizza threads for the best food. There are a lot of opinions...

Parking is difficult. There is a parking structure on Durant near telegraph. Get there early. No street parking except maybe north side far from the Stadium. You will see frat guys with signs near the stadium ,probably $50.00. I would go on stub Hub and buy a parking pass now. Thats what I would do . All of the lots near the stadium are for Donors or season ticket holders.

I like LaVals for Pizza off Euclid the Northside. There is really. is not a sit down pizza on the south side near the Durant parking. If you need alcohol Jupiter on Shattuck has Pizza but it is quite a walk to the stadium.

My favorite routine is to buy the bratwurst from top dog and paper bag a cold beer while I walk to the stadium. Absolutely love that walk and get that slight buzz as I walk into the stadium. 46 years old and I am ready to go all out after another beer in the beer garden. Wonder if they will still have the beer garden this year with the pandemic.

Free parking all over the city Saturday night, should not be a problem. South side, Downtown (Jupiter my favorite) or Northside. Meter enforcement ends at 6:00 pm. Id get there at 5 (or earlier) feed the meter, get food and drink (depending on COVID restrictions) and head to the stadium in time for the game.

Just be careful not to park in residential zones A,B,D, or F... Or face a huge fine. The other residential zone are OK on a Saturday, especially Sat night.

Personally I like LaVal's on Euclid near campus on Northside of campus for pizza and beer. There should be street parking nearby since it is a night game. Added benefit is that the walk to stadium isn't half bad.

Better restaurants on Westside within a four block radius of the University Art museum. Downside is the the walk to the stadium is quite long. But the walk is very scenic through the heart of the campus.
And after the game it's all downhill

Agreed, Northside is my "secret" especially for day games. I usually walk past the stadium and then drink at I-House checking out the view of the Bay and the crowd.

Can't help you with parking. I fly up from So Cal, so it's always BART, Uber, and walking. But I did want to chime in with my suggestion if you're looking for pizza and you have time to venture a bit farther from campus. I always try to get to Zachary's when I come up for a game. They have a couple of locations; I go to the one on College Avenue. It's a Chicago style stuffed pizza, and even though I'm a serious carnivore, the spinach-mushroom is one of my favorite things to eat in the entire world. It's maybe 2 miles from campus, but it's a nice walk or an easy bus ride straight down College, near the Rockridge BART station.

I expect most fans to wear a mask and for what crowd does show up to be quite muted. Hopefully our guys are pumped to be playing in front of any kind of crowd after this long.
