^ agreed but tired of the tall slow as **** wr toler room of "big catch radius" wideouts that can't create separation (and that don't block either)
would also point out that the db is clearly holding marquez's right forearm while the ref is jumping on his imaginary pogo stick in the background stead of throwing a yellow flag
This play might have warranted a flag. The tipped INT that should've been a TD did not.
Dortch is quick and fast. He can create separation. But he lacks good hands and strength. The interception was a well thrown ball and torn away too easily by the DB. Oh and BTW the drop (it was a drop) was in the end zone. And the torn away interception was inside the 5 yd line. You cannot give away scoring opportunities.
Love the athleticism. But if you want to play you have to complete the plays. Both throws by Rogers were well thrown and must be caught. Cal has others that can create separation like Merriweather, Matthews, Brady, Anderson and Josiah Martin.
I agree that Cal had to improve the speed and quickness at WR. But you also have to catch and secure the ball.

Agree the class at present is almost certainly a lower half of the league team in the ACC. Mahaney is visiting UVa, Kentucky and Uconn as well. Looks like the ship has likely sailed on Mahaney.
^ above black doggy dog foto looks an awful lot like benji's little sister beauty, after adopting benji aka scrappy doo shocky had to bring beauty from the shelter to the tree fort too, could not separate them without a forever home

the following is a loose transcript of my sorta telepathic conversation afterwards at the tree fort with my doggys when i walked into the kitchen with my golden bear blue yoga mat & sandals with major grass clippings on the way to dropping them in the pool for a little cleaning
benji (see foto above, he's 100% like his human shocky, both annoying as **** & loveable): hey, slow down there big guy, what's up with the grass clippings?...did you go on a lucky leash hike without us?...did you get lost?
shocky: benji, this morning's yoga class wuz for humans, not doggys, sorry
benji (sniffing everything like a maniac): what, i don't believe you...who would not wanna include me?...plus this grass is very suspicious with its high fertilizer content and no doggy pee smells, is this grass from uranus or something?
beauty (benji's tiny black furball sister, just rescued/adopted her, couldn't split them up forever): relax benji, daddy can take us for a walk now before his bears game
misty mae (an oldy but goody): hey, stella & mugsy (the cats) ate part of my breakfast!
shocky: ay caramba, where's the lucky leashes?
who saved who?#
conversation with the doggys after our morning mountain hike a couple of minutes ago, a successful venture with no cacti in our paws
benji: hey big guy, how come i'm not invited to noon modern yoga, what about me?
shocky: benji, what would you even do at class?
benji: well, for starters i would warmly greet everyone & make sure they had plenty of water in their dishes
beauty: benji, be nice to daddy, we can do yoga in the backyard while he's gone, ok?
benji: beauty, that's not the same thing!
misty mae: hey, when you guys are done talking about this stupid yoga can we get some breakfast served around here?
shocky: look, benji, yoga classes are for humans but i'll tell you what, next time we do an afternoon nap you can be the sofa king & get first choice on the cloud

cal's monster class update re: the con artist:
the original official berkeley chancellor search timelines outlined potential candidates being nominated in may to uc chancellor michael drake for his recommendation of a final candidate to the uc board of regents in june for a july 1st transfer of power starting date
but what will go down as arguably outgoing chancellor carol christ's legacy/most benevolent gift (other than forgiving much of the stadium debt) to berkeley is that she's lobbied with drake for an early transition date due to multiple critical imminent issues that need immediate addressing which is why richard lyons wuz announced as the next berkeley chancellor last week in early april
carol knows now that knowlton is running the athletic department into an existential financial tsunami iceberg from which it will never recover from (read my past posts re: the covert tens of millions of dollars loans from the central campus & significantly lower future revenue streams from conference media rights) and that he lied to her about the northwestern athletic director job (which resulted in his contract extension thru 2029 at $1,300,000 despite being an absentee employee working outta colorado springs with a rental home in the east bay) & also the magnitude of the nil financial dollars of the men's football/basketball players (christ actually thought the nil dollars paid to jaydn ott wuz comparable to the goalie on the women's field hockey team and went ballistic when she found out otherwise)
so now rich lyons is the de facto chancellor & has the opportunity to take action on the 2nd legal review documents (commissioned by the chancellor's legal team & assistant vice chancellor dan mogulof) which focused upon jim knowlton & his evil as **** 2nd in charge jennifer simon-o'neil with respects to their criminal negligence in the multiple suicidal women's swimmers teri mckeever criminal scandal...the original 1st legal review by the munger firm wuz a $2,000,000+ cost report which resulted in a 482 page document that did not address the culpability of the athletic department, this 2nd report clearly shows criminal level intent & is grounds for the termination of both knowlton & simon-o'neil
and if knowlton & simon-o'neil are terminated then their worthless bureaucratic team of cfo tom lowry (recruited by knowlton from the air force, his transparent disdain of the cal football program wuz apparent to me within 15 minutes of our 1st conversation back in the day) & the obstinate markeisha everrett who talks about innovation but actually does nothing while hiding in her office reading the internet instead of offering FREE tixs to all students will also be removed from power
and yeah then andrew mcgraw would be the right next athletic director to quickly lead moving forward a fiscally responsible rightsized (cutting sport teams such as baseball within title ix requirements, realigning multiple sports such as rugby to club status and repurposing the evans & edwards fields/stadiums for the university's greater good) department that focuses on a select few national championship calibre teams that support school spirit (alums visiting campus on game days) & a stream of future philanthropic donations for the university
got it?
the time is now (for everything in the next 24 secondes)#
when shocky wuz engaged in his relentless public information requests for financial information from the cal athletic department (which wuz met with delay & stalling tactics which resulted in threats of legal action from the monster) he carbon copied journalist jon wilner re: the eventual ad responses with respects to the covert loans from the central campus of $11,000,000 in fy22 & $15,000,000 in fy23
In FY2022, the Bears generated $120.5 million in revenue against $116.8 in expenses and $29.1 million in campus support. Total shortfall without support: $25.4 million. In FY2023, they booked $129.5 million in revenue against $138.3 million in expenses with $33.7 million in support. Total shortfall without support: $42.5 million.
bottom line, the cal athletic department is heading toward an existential financial tsunami particularly when recognizing the approximately $15,000,000 reduction in conference media right revenues in fy24 due to the reduced share in the acc vs the pac 12
so will outgoing chancellor carol christ get the calimony from ucla that she's promised will be paid by ucla before she heads into retirement?...if so how much will our deadbeat so cal daddys pay them bears?
richard lyons right now has access to the 2nd legal report (following the initial munger report re: the mckeever suicidal women's swimmers) via dan mogulof & will be in a position to terminate knowlton when he formally takes office on july 1st
will this happen???
or will the athletic department continue its rapid ascent into financial oblivion/bankruptcy which will forever change cal football as we know it?
if jim knowlton is still the athletic director when the california golden bears host uc davis on saturday august 31st at memorial stadium we'll have our answer
my take is that inept general james knowlton is gonna be torpedoed outta berkeley, andrew mcgraw will be named as the interim athletic director & a new restructuring plan re: cal athletics will be forthcoming that is based upon protecting future financial solvency
yeah keeping knowlton & his senior failed leadership team of jennifer simon-o'neil, tom lowry & markeisha everrett would be a DUMB DECISION
shocky & bobo (he got a good man ponytail) last ride?#
shocky's poly azz brah/honorary california golden bear rickie fowler (marrying allison wuz not a dumb decision, they're expecting their 2nd child) with the ace on the par 3 7th hole at pine valley (an hour south of philly down the new jersey turnpike past the wawa on the way to atlantic city, yeah **** balenciaga, just ask liam) which requires a slight draw to the redan designed from left pin position

Honestly, I don't care if Knowlton is the AD for the next several if he is simply the errand boy for Lyons, and responding to the specific directives from Lyons, assuming Lyons is going to be as good for athletics as you and others have proclaimed. But okay, assuming you are right that he will be gone at some point (probably the more likely scenario) I certainly don't believe Knowlton will be gone by August 31, because Lyons has to have him fail directly in front of him right? Or in HR parlance, he has to have a file on Lyons? I'm happy to have you be right, don't get me wrong (or rip on me.) Side note: It's amazing to me the major donations that have happened in some Olympic sports that Knowlton is not involved with in the least....
mb, terminating knowlton after july 1st by lyons would be legally based from a hr perspective upon the con artist's cover up role with the mckeever fiasco...we're on the same page but having knowlton serve as an errand boy won't work given the multiple non athletic related tasks ahead of lyons that will require rich's 100% focus & attention
either knowtlon is gone by the uc davis game or cal athletics as we know it is done

got to visit with blue shirting juco transfer martin tine during the postgame big game field celebration in palo alto after the epic victory over stanford
martin tole that when he left houston for east los angeles community college that during his time in so cal his nutrition decisions & opportunities to eat healthy wuz limited & that he carried some bad weight in the 325+ lbs range
now he tole me he's 305 lbs & to be honest with u he looks like a chiseled nfl prospect at the combine...martin can't wait for 2024 spring ball to make his move, he prefers left tackle but either side is fine with tine if it gets him on the field
martin is a well intended young man that struggled with his weight, conditioning (lacks the quick twitch athleticism that is necessary in coach bloesch's high motor system) & academics during his time in berkeley...wish him nothing but the best in earning a college degree somewhere
