When Harsin was at Auburn he ran off all the young African American coaches that the players liked and were Auburn's best recruiters, brought in his guys from Boise, then lost all their offensive talent to the Portal, delivered the worst recruiting classes in Auburn's history and had the #85 offense by his second year.

A coaching style that worked at Boise State in the Mountain West before the Portal era will not work in Berkeley in a P4 conference in the Portal era. If we didn't think of that before, we should have learned it with the Mark Fox fiasco in basketball.

Agreed - Wilcox failed to do proper due diligence and once again hired a bad OC. Unforgivable after the 3 time and this is what #5?

Failed to do due diligence?

They previously worked together on staff for multiple highly successful years at Boise. C'mon.
He knew who he was getting.

I did not know that .. so this is even worse. No one wants to come work for Wilcox/Cal except for his unemployed acquaintances. Sheesh

the question: the bears finished at +29 on the 5 par 3s at pasatiempo, the question is can coach wilson & coach ireland get this ongoing problem addressed prior to the upcoming acc championship tournament??

yeah maybe instead of playing shocky's beloved san francisco golf club during qualifying practice rounds maybe the bears should be playing the lake chabot par 3 course next to the oakland zoo or something

daughter taylor flew in from nyc tonite (her sister shay will fly in from denver mañana) & after dinner we went to handel's in north scottsdale for desert & the high school girl behind the counter tole tay she looks exactly like madison beer/megan fox

asked the girl if shocky kinda like look a substitute yoga teacher at modern yoga or something & she just sympathetically smiled at me

someone should ask rich lyons if he looks like a leader who listens to his constituents & makes wise financial decisions to protect the future of his institution or if he's just another do nothing bureaucrat most comfortable with stagnation & his entity rotting away from the inside while he gazes out the window at a toxic bleak future without donor support for his initiatives, right??

real talk: coach griffin should talk less about himself and how to enter the transfer portal by making plays on film & more about the academic value/component of earning a berkeley degree

not sure julian gets it which is a function/responsibility of the head coach explaining to him (and the offensive coordinator) up front how academically ambitious high gpa true student athletes in berkeley r different than low gpa dumb ***** at utsa who r gonna be working mall security at age 30

Anae and Ceffalo both are up and coming coaches (who turned down other opportunities) who were hired this year and neither were "unemployed acquaintances".

We are all unhappy about the RB situation at this point, but let's not make up stories.

jack endries is gonna officially trip to texas, meanwhile general knowlton is gonna trip to colorado springs again with the overwhelming majority of cal athletics teams with losing conference records & dwindling attendance/fan interest because of failed marketing by the non innovative/lazy as **** markeisha everrett

does lyons even care that knowlton is the only athletic director in the nation that declines all media requests & that does not have any social media presence on twitter or instagram and does not even have a public email for transparent communication with the fanbase??...is lying about the status of the dedicated basketball practice facility or unilaterally extending the contract of the worst college basketball coach mark fox in the nation a terminable offense??

rich, surrounding urself with ****tards is not gonna work in berkeley

cal's monster class OFFICIAL annoucement: shocky has reached an agreement with the stanford president authorizing all cal fans attending this potential largest softball attendance record evah on planet earth at stanford's football stadium should the bears prevail (the cards are ranked in the top 25 this season) to STORM THE FIELD!!

fun fact: back in the day when shocky wuz the general manager of the cal basketball program he led the fanbase is STORMING THE FLOOR after every big win at haas pavilion as the 1st person racing to the center of the universe despite multiple warnings from the athletic department administrators that such action could result in $25,000+ fines from the pac 12

shocky tole these administrators to get the **** lost, that he would personally pay any potential fines & that STORMING THE FLOOR wuz part of a calculated strategy to build an ENERGIZED fanbase

oskisgirlfriendisacurvybrunetteyogafemale, everybody got their own personal tipping point, mine started when cal's monster class (a love letter to the magic of cal basketball) wuz terminated which effectively ended my role as cal basketball's general manager & ended my attending 100+ consecutive games...there's no hope for either the men's or women's teams until a real (not a fake one like the one promised by the con artist) dedicated basketball practice facility fundraising initiative commences

right now the football program (which funds the athletic department & is the most significant portal for berkeley grads to their alma mater) is hanging on whether chancellor lyons is gonna give ron rivera the keys or not right now (rich is running outta time)

honestly if oaktown's jet (my favorite player in the program, his size & determination resonates with me) ultimately leaves berkeley without a degree that might be my tipping point, there's still hope but jaivian needs to be retained

the athletic department is running an almost $70,000,000+ annual deficit with ZERO financial cost cutting planned by the athletic director despite almost every sport with losing conference records, the bears are getting their azzs handed to them across the board with decreasing fan interest/donor involvement

thx for asking, my passion for our california golden bears on the pga tour (the FUN traveling to tournaments across the world may replace attending every cal football game this fall) & rescue doggy dog fundraising advocacy here in maricopa county has never been stronger!!

2025 heritage classic at harbor town: 1st round update

collin morikawa (69, tied 31st): testing out a new putter this week, collin continues to miss 90% of his putts right of the hole with a push slice due to excessive head movement, not releasing the putterhead thru impact & just candy azz soft green readings (due to not involving jj in a collaborative partnership)...playing early tomorrow morning with less winds & softer more receptive greens could be a chocolate milkshake go time!!

max homa (70, tied for 38th): after an ugly azz early round trio of bogeys on the 3rd thru 5th holes, the new more positive max battled back to break par with an unreal birdie 3 to a brutal front in position on the fabulous par 4 18th hole with the iconic lighthouse standing sentinel reminding those of love from long ago...homa is playing quicker (3 hours 40 minutes today) with less of the autistic alex noren practice swings, this is important for max's mental health to play with an uncluttered mind & just have FUN

michael kim (71, tied for 51st): the usual ELITE putter had a rare off day on the greens finishing almost last in the field in total # of feet for made putts

ben an (74, 68th): ben missed 7 outta 14 fairways on the tight treenlined playing corridors including a 188 yard opening drive to the left fairway on the 1st hole, run roh!!

Shocky what is the chance that we can get The Jet to stay? Slim and none? I would be OK overall with my outlook for the season if he was the one guy to come back.

He was going to be the guy, maybe even with Ott, so if he decided to bounce and so did everybody else, why would he be more inclined to stay versus the others? None of them are coming back

Because we could possibly give him what Ott would have made, which I would assume is a much bigger bag. I mean still get to play in front of friends and family, with huge increase in NIL. Why not deal with a dbag for a year lol? Sometimes that's life. Lots of employees have to tolerate toxicity to pay bills, so it ain't like some Greek tragedy. Graduate from Cal and hit the combines. Cal football needs to make him the #1 priority for anything right now, if there is still a chance.

Great student, electric local player, could be our key to building a broad fan base in the East Bay. Rivera should interview him and if it is a staff member or staff members whose behavior has driven all our offensive players away, then Ron should make sure that person is gone. We don't have time to let this crater out.

the question: the bears finished at +29 on the 5 par 3s at pasatiempo, the question is can coach wilson & coach ireland get this ongoing problem addressed prior to the upcoming acc championship tournament??

yeah maybe instead of playing shocky's beloved san francisco golf club during qualifying practice rounds maybe the bears should be playing the lake chabot par 3 course next to the oakland zoo or something

watched some of the tourney on TV and Cal players were quite prominent, Doing a lot of good things - the talent level is pretty good. The consistency isn't, especially on Par 3s as Shocky suggests.

I'm not gonna lie, Ron seems a bit weak and powerless right now. Let me know if I'm wrong.

Agreed. I am just hoping (beyond reason) this is recognized as an existential crisis and he could go to Lyons with whatever recommendation he has to right tge ship NOW (and get the donors back on board) instead of waiting until the end of the season which would be another season wasted when we are running out of time. By the end of the year Lyons and the university will have bigger problems to deal with than the impending death of our sports programs.

football is a violent sport, justin wilcox (despite getting paid 4 million bucks a year) stood stoically on the sidelines all last season while jaydn & the other cal running backs got physically abused via inane predictable runs into granite statues instead of directing his offensive coordinator to call PITCHOUTS in wide open space on the edges...oklahoma is gonna find creative ways to get ott in open space this fall

future hall of fame nfl defensive legend marvin lewis has tole me multiple times that cal wuz the most predictable offensive to gameplan against in the pac 12, that's a reflection of the head coach rubber jacketing beau baldwin's playcalling & giving the keys to the offense to an alcoholic (read my past account of meeting billy m along with his drinking buddy charlie ragle at the phoenix open's 16th hole) bill musgrave

ott's injury last season wuz not only due to playcalling but also due to wilcox retaining failed s&c coach brian johnson too long when it wuz obvious to everybody that the program's stacking of INJURIES wuz due to a non accountable s&c program (which has now been corrected with coach novak & his staff which transparently grade each player's workouts)

and despite losing 3-4 games last season due to a failed placekicking operation, last saturday's spring showcase wuz another ****show performance with low trajectory kicks & off target longsnapping...and yeah when shocky got involved tryna save mateen bhaghani from being unfairly run off by longwell, wilcox opted close his eyes to the distortion & just look away from the darkness

today's college football coaching requires an extrovert like asu's dilly who is loved by his players, staff, donors, students & the fanbase who interacts with everybody including the monster...justin wilcox is an introvert

poor decision making has both short & long term consequences (rich lyons is tuning out/disregarding donors & berkeley alums which will have devastating financial consequences)#

Bye Felicia.

Not really. Better information on Insider board, along with the statement from Ron to Mike Silver posted here on Growls (in a different thread). Can't really say more than that.
