He could definitely have been a possible depth guy, but the announcement makes it appear as if he's some kind of savoir. Barring injury, he wouldn't have been a starting player at Cal. His injury last year opened the door for Vatikani, who is our most promising offensive lineman. I'm hoping that backup roles will be filled, at least in part, by some of the younger players on the roster. The real desperate need is for tackles, and he wasn't going to help us at that position.tequila4kapp said:
No need to bang on the guy. He was a Bear for a year and gave it his all. Having watched him for a year, we know the score...but we also would have been happy if he stayed and provided interior depth.

It is a head scratcher how a person smart enough to get admitted to Cal could make such a dumb decision.sycasey said:

Chris Street would have been buried in the depth chart. If he wanted playing time, leaving was the right thing.Shocky1 said:
sycasey, r u gonna say the same thing if chris street accepts his only current portal transfer offer to north alabama?

Shocky - Not everyone has the same values. Do you know what Chris Street wants to do with his life? Perhaps he wants to be a football coach. If so, playing a couple more years of football will be good for his career, while a Cal degree (while wonderful) is not going to advance that career more than one from Northern Alabama (or whatever he winds up).Shocky1 said:southseasbear said:Chris Street would have been buried in the depth chart. southseas, let me make sure ima understanding u correctly, r u saying that a kinda slow 5'9" running back who got less than a zero chance of ever earning a peso in the national football league made the rite move by not finishing his degree from the #1 ranked public university in the world after 2 & a half years of study in berkeley in order to ball out at north alabama?
using ur 100% insane academic advice the shockster should've foregone his phi beta kappa haas biz ad degree which has opened a million doors in life including playing the world's top 100 golf courses & advocacy for rescue animals here in maricopa county in order to transfer to the northern arizona school of bartending/lumberjacking in order to make the golf team?
luv u man & its important to follow our dreams in life but sure as **** hope ur not a high school career counselor or something
high school teacher (in the break room): hey, did you hear the news, javian just passed up his full ride to harvard in order to follow his culinary dreams at the mcdonalds big mac institute in oak brook?
assistant principal (shaking his head): what the ****, when is southseasbear gonna retire?
The point is that you have no idea what he wants to do with his life and therefore are not in a position to judge him or his decision. Cal is not for everyone. I'm glad it was the perfect school for you, but other people have other priorities.Shocky1 said:

southseas, if you don't think it's sad as **** that chris street is gonna pass up a berkeley degree after 2 & a half years of study (he had the option of finishing his degree in 2024 & then entering the portal as a grad transfer with still 2 years of remaining eligibility), then your certainly entitled to your opinion but would suggest you don't make up fake azz scenarios where maybe a north alabama degree will help him become a football coach or something
