Re tackle Alec Bank, possible senior transferee from Harvard, I wonder if any player has transferred from the Ivy League to any Pac 12 school. I doubt it. Look like if he does come to Cal he needs to beef up some.

what up 49er?

the monster wuz not full disclosure with you (my apologies), yes bank wuz all ivy but it wuz 4th team which means he would likely add depth to the o-line room while competing for a starting job

in any case stanford (which has basically lost all 5 of its 2022 starting o-line to the portal, troy taylor is gonna be lucky to win 2-3 games next season, mark your calendar for stormin' the field in palo alto on my november 19th b-day again) is recruiting alec as a rare portal transfer...if he's accepted on the farm, it's very low probability that a white young man from a wealthy family in orange county that graduated from a private school like harvard isn't gonna accept a stanford actionable offer

but you never know what alec truly wants out of his life's experiences and/or stanford admissions decisions so coach bloesch should still try to get bank on campus for an early january official visit to make a further evaluation particularly with respects to whether or not his body frame can relatively rapidly gain the necessary additional mass/strength that is necessary to compete in the pac 12

bank has publicly communicated that he has 1 year of eligibility left (the ivy league does not award redshirts) but it seems clear to me that he could get a 2nd year with a ncca appeal which would make him from a bears perspective a much more attractive potential addition to the o-line room, one & done recruitments should be limited to immediate impact starters

https://247sports.com/college/california/Season/2023-Football/Commits/

49er, high school basketball rankings tend to be accurate, the top 100 players in the nation compete against each other every summer during national aau tournaments which means scouts & coaches can see how elite players match up with each other

football players, other than regional 7&7 passing leagues, don't really compete against each other...therefore the rankings are not serious evaluation tools outside of the 5 star recipients who got just ridiculously obvious physical skills/talent

basically tryna tell u in a nice way that the list u linked wuz put together by some clueless dumb azz amateurs (that have never worked for a collegiate or nfl program) that have never seen 90% of the players on the list & therefore that these kinda lists r basically dog ****

the reason shocky is arguably the most highly regarded rater/ranker in the world with respects to golf architecture is because i've actually played the last 17 world top 100 lists...you can't accurately & comparatively rank things you've never seen, right?...and that's why football recruiting rankings are only of interest to those who really don't know how the lists are compiled

we're not #82, cal has an excellent incoming class of high gpa student athletes that strategically is filling many of the necessary positions of need specific to the program (still awaiting the quarterback carlos rogers public commitment announcement pending berkeley admissions & housing issues resolution) other than the pressing needs for cal's monster offensive line

coach wilcox & the monster are in disagreement tho re: coach bloesch coaching his north texas o-line room in the mean greenies bowl game, the shockster thinks he should've spent the week in berkeley 100% relentlessly focused on recruiting, the zero additions reflects the reality of his partial absence that week

econ, my take (which could change in 5 minutes from now) on the quarterback situation based on conversations with multiple people within & close to the cal football program is that chandler rogers is the quarterback of the future & that he will commit before new year's eve, that kai milner will return from the portal & pursue his berkeley degree with an emphasis upon biz classes while competing in coach spav's quarterback room and that jack plummer is gone for good

coach spav in concert with coach wilcox want to move forward with college football's trend towards mobile quarterbacks particularly in light of the challenges that cal's monster offensive line faced this season which resulted in the tough as **** plummer nearly getting sent to the el monte spinal & taquitito institute on almost a weekly basis due to brutal punishing hits...whatever happens moving forward jack will always have the monster's respect for his courageous bravery in accepting the 2022 season physical punishment

but look at the pac 12's top quarterbacks in 2022, what do they all have in common?...they are all +1 athletes that can flat out run...we're talking about williams at usc, dtr at ucla, penix at washington, ward at washington state, etc.

chandler rogers last season on a 4-8 team threw for 2403 yards, 15 touchdowns with 7 interceptions & a remarkable 67.5% completion percentage...according to pff his wide receivers dropped 10% of his passes so his adjusted completion rate is pushing almost 80% and that's absolutely exactly what we need in berkeley with jmike, jeremiah, mavin, roe, starling & hopefully nyziah in the future

it's also very important to note that he played well despite a near lack of any support against both texas & alabama, he's got the poise to lead the bears against auburn next september in a hopefully sold out memorial stadium that will be ready to storm the field

the x factor is that chandler rogers can run with the ball, he ran for 353 yards last season...can you imagine a speedy quarterback on the field when opposing defenses already gotta account for the coach spav 2 running back sets at times with both jaydn ott & byron cardwell as be gone threats every time they touch the ball?

another factor is that chandler got 2 years of remaining eligibility which means that we got an opportunity to generate some offensive fireworks for both the 2023 & 2024 seasons in berkeley

chandler rogers is the quarterback of the future in berkeley#

monster quarterback predictions:

chandler rogers will be publicly committing in the very near future once admissions & housing issues are finalized, he is the quarterback of the future in berkeley

former cal commit/4.0 gpa current ucla quarterback 6'4" 222 lbs +1 athlete justyn martin will enter the transfer portal after the sun bowl & will be targeted by coach spav with an actionable offer & an official visit

big c, miller moss got the academics for berkeley (moms graduated from stanford/yale/owns architectural firm) with a 4.2 gpa but imo lacks the mobility +1 athleticism that coach spav is seeking in quarterbacks

also whereas justyn martin got 4 more years of eligibility & once wuz a cal commit, moss got only 3 years & wuz never a cal commit

Yes, I do seem to remember him coming from a nice family. Well, if he does want out of South Central but it doesn't work at Cal, maybe Troy Taylor can get Furd Admissions to accept a legacy as a transfer.

Shock, Merry Christmas. I get the infatuation with JMart, but he's still very much a project. Chandler Rogers has 2 years of eligibility left, for the second QB we add I'd prefer a more ready to go arm, someone like 3 years of eligibility with live game reps under his belt, Luke Altmyer. I'm not mad at adding Justyn Martin, but at this point in his tenure, Wilcox should go for more of a sure thing. We've experimented enough with our QB1 on his watch with lack luster results.

durant, merry xmas to u 2...agreed luke altmyer got skills but the odds of a white kid from starksville mississippi wanting to transfer to berkeley for the next 2 seasons to sit behind chandler rogers are probably less than 1%

the week prior to our epic goal line stand in the final seconds vs ole miss & ensuing once in a lifetime wild azz celebration in the grove, me & slim wadie walked the top 7 courses in alabama & mississippi (gil hanse's mossy point in west point ms is the best of the bunch followed by old waverly) & we were in disbelief with the present day racism in the deep south both subtle & overt

john grisham & william faulkner write about a sanitized version of the deep south, one of my favorite authors is greg iles who writes haunting 1000+ page novels with an uncomfortable unvarnished truth about a place that is decades behind the rest of the united states from an education, sanitation, civil rights, the list goes on forever perspective

https://instagr.am/p/BQRMrSoB_Xz
luke altmyer as a qb for kiffin realistically got a huge nil deal at ole miss & is not likely gonna take a major paycut on the left coast

same deal for sam hartman, less than a 1% chance

berkeley isn't for everybody#

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (including the deep south)

interview/portrait of a con artist:
https://www.si.com/college/cal/basketball/knowlton-on-fox

let's breakdown this interview but 1st huge props to intrepid journalist jeff faraudo on this fascinating glimpse into the mind of james arthur knowlton

*****first thing to note is that knowlton originally wanted the interview to be done by email but only after persuading by faraudo agreed to talk by phone

criminals (who usually lawyer up) & politicians like to control the narrative when discussing their scams, it takes a seasoned pro like jeff to get them to speak transparently

*****knowlton only agreed to the interview under the condition that he be provided the questions in advance & then he would decide which questions he would answer

we are paying our current athletic director $1,300,000+ a year to play dodge ball with reporters???

*****when i interviewed, everyone I interviewed...hey you're at the bottom and it's going to be a tough climb"

that's an absolute bald face lie, my friend travis decuire (who was the original inspiration for cal's monster class, read the very 1st post of that thread) did not say anything that even resembles that comment, he was/is very optimistic re: the future of cal basketball

the only person who said negative **** like that was mark fox, setting himself up for his chronic repeated excuses of covid, injuries, his inability to find rogaine on sale at walgreens, etc.

and who are these coaches he interviewed?...knowlton used an expensive search firm that found him a retread because he's the only d1 athletic director in america who can't name 10 football or basketball coaches

*****"as an ad you have to show tactical patience"

are you ******* kidding me, your basketball team is 0-11 & attendance has crated to the point that certain games could be played in the rsf building

*****"mark's not making excuses"

literally every fox postgame interview (which honestly is the most fun thing about cal basketball right now) focuses on excuses, the worst one being that his players aren't listening to him

*****"i'm working with mark...to get some wins under our belt"

basketball junkies like myself find watching this team unbearable, the problem isn't injuries, it's the uncorrected broken down shooting mechanics of the vast majority of this team that is the problem...at season's end this will be one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in the nation & that's a function of a lack of development in teaching pure shooting mechanics...knowlton's lack of a basketball iq is astonishing

*****"i would say winning a national championship would satisfy everybody"

more disingenuous talk from our athletic director, no jim we would just like to beat sonoma state at this point, got it?

*****"yes, we see a way ahead"

that way ahead involves knowlton being implicated in the cover up of the mckeever/simon-o'neil abused women's swimmers & being terminated for cause by chancellor christ & then the next athletic director andrew mcgraw firing mark fox & hiring joe pasternak to passionately build a monster program

*****but way more important (than winning) is all the other things we have to do as a department to make the fan experience special"

hollow words from an athletic director who oversees the football gameday experience that is marred by the shrill sounding gameday promotional announcer who won't ever shut up when the band is playing or even after action on the field has resumed...as for basketball, markeisha everett is wildly unqualified for her role as the director of communications/marketing with no berkeley or west coast experience & as a result she is responsible for the few remaining students being moved from midcourt to behind the basket and the department's bureaucratically bloated 11 person communications department

*****"yeah, we're concerned"

jim is concerned there is growing donor/season tix holder/fanbase realization that he's in way over his head, jim is concerned that his $1,300,000+ average annual salary is gonna go away
knowlton notes: in 2020 cal's athletic director entered into a 15 year contract ensuring that baseball cannot be cut thru 2035, basically this means that with title ix compliance issues that rightsizing the number of financially unsustainable sports cannot happen in berkeley on a go forward basis
http://baseballnews.com/cal-baseball-living-proof-that-miracles-do-happen/

honestly donating to the cal athletic department is kinda like giving money to a drug addict (who gets his fix from long term contracts), he's just gonna waste your money on his $1,300,000+ average annual salary thru 2029

vote for andrew mcgraw for athletic director (vote early, vote often)#

cal's monster offensive line recruiting update:

cal's 2023 yucky blucky fruitcake class is now focused upon key additions to cal's monster offensive line

right now is currently a dead period which mean schools cannot host prospects on official visits or visit them off campus thru january 12th

however the ncca created a 4 day window for portal transfers to take official visits between january 4th-8th to allow them time to enroll at their new schools for the spring semester...classes start in berkeley on january 17th & the 18th is the final day for current college players to declare for the portal

the recruiting madness reopens on january 13th-29th for contact & official visits with february 1st the conventional signing date

cal's monster offensive line currently got 13 scholly linemen with the departures of asu transfer ben coleman (moms is a sun devil) and now spencer lovell to the transfer portal & the upcoming arrival of greyshirt tackle nick morrow from flagstaff in january...that number moves to 14 if athlete frederick williams iii plays on the o-line when he arrives for cal's summer bridge

coach bloesch & coach saffell will ideally sign a portal transfer this january (that's why the upcoming window of the 4th-8th for official visits is so critical particularly in securing a trip to berkeley for tackle christy nkanu) & another one after spring ball as the scholly total is rightsized

as for preferred walk ons the staff already gotta commitment from 6'4" 275 lbs 3.2 gpa tyler murphy from acalanes & are also targeting 6'5" 300 lbs 4.05 gpa mac dorward from marin catholic, both guys can play

yeah there are a lotta moving parts going on right now with cal's monster offensive line, do you wanna be part of this room in the beautiful san francisco bay area at the #1 ranked public university in the world?

Shocky's fraudulent fabulous monster O Line is melting away. Same idiocy as running off Brookes and counting on an Oregon transfer who ran for 46 yards last year. That high school sophomore is sure to be ready to roll by the time Wilcox is fired. Let's get another Grover level ivy QB and we're good-to-go too. Now with Spav we go back to Smurf ball offense with high school size running backs. Louisiana Monroe,.. really(?).. That will probably work out like the Montana State star inflated lineman. The Pac 12 uses California players, *** is wrong with Wilcox and Cal?

duster, spencer lovell moves like a granite statue, he was not gonna be in the 2 deep next season, better that these development snaps go to offensive linemen prospects with multiple years of future eligibility, got it?

look, understand that recruiting in 2023 is kinda suss, following cal's monster offensive line might not be for you & that's ok, we're not here to judge but u gotta keep ur eyes open

trust me duster, the world is not ending, maybe ur time would be better spent learning how to speak/sing in spanish than reading the monster but that's ur decision if the building of the o-line room is too stressful
