oskisdoggyisnotpottytrained, rich lyons (the former dean of the haas biz school & the current chancellor for innovation & entrepreneurship but most importantly a berkeley undergraduate before earning a phd from mit) don't got much of a chance of being appointed the next chancellor based upon both his credentials in never running a university but also to be honest with you as a white male...lyons bleeds blue & gold and would be a transformational upgrade over christ based upon his understanding & support of cal athletics (albeit his sitting on the committee that voted to rebrand cal athletics as "cal berkeley" which is the unconscionable act of worthless bureaucrats like jennifer simon-o'neil who also served on the committee) but the politics make him an extreme longshot unlike shocky's favored candidate & probable current frontrunner dr adela de la torre
keep in mind the current frontrunner to replace chancellor gene block at ucla is the remarkable condoleezza rice who along with notre dame's athletic director jack swarbrick & smu's george bush allowed us to ride their masterful high level lobbying efforts in receiving a life saving invitation to join the acc...shocky has conversed with condoleezza at both cypress point & augusta national where she holds memberships at both clubs, condi is 100% a sports enthusiast of the highest level
The obvious question is why she isn't a candidate for Cal Chancellor. I'd assume she values Cal's academic standing, but maybe she knows too much about the political minefield the academic senate and frankly the students and COB present. I wish her no ill will but would hate to see UCLA snap her up. In some ways, having a med school along with being in LA makes UCLA a better gig.

cal's monster offensive line official announcement:
the bears new #1 most HATED RIVAL (replacing usc) moving forward in the inaugural acc season is florida state
the 2024 road game to tallahassee with a side trip for world class golf at the streamsong resort is gonna be EPIC...yeah watching cal football on tv is for losers, do u got ur season tix(s)?
cap
**** the seminoles#
yeah the bowl game of most interest to me is the match up between our new MOST HATED arch rival florida state (voted against cal along with clemson & north clemson to getting an invitation to the acc)
hopefully the georgia bulldogs will viciously rabid dog bite the self entitled non academic (fsu is not an aau accredited university which is a big deal to the big 10) seminoles
so whose gonna miss the bowl game for 13-0 florida state?
jordan travis, quarterback, injured (will be out of eligibility): 2,756 passing yards & 154.5 qb rating
aj duffy, quarterback, transfer portal to san diego state
thomas rodemaker, quarterback, transfer portal
troy benson, running back, declared for nfl: 905 yards & 5.8 ypc
rodney hill, running back, transfer portal to famu: 3rd leading rusher
cj campbell, running back, transfer portal to fau
keon coleman, wide receiver, declared for nfl: 50 catches for 658 yards
johnny wilson, wide receiver, declared for nfl: 41 catches for 617 yards
jaheim bell, tight end, declared for nfl: 39 catches for 503 yards
markston douglas, tight end, transfer portal to asu: 11 catches for 136 yards
bless harris, offensive lineman, transfer portal to tcu
daughtry richardson, offensive lineman, transfer portal to fau
qae'shon sapp, offensive lineman, transfer portal to famu
thomas schrader, offensive lineman, transfer portal
jared verse, defensive end, declared for nfl: 12.5 tackles for loss & 9 sacks
fabien lovett, defensive tackle, declared for nfl: 22 tackles & 4 tackles for loss
dj lundy, linebacker, transfer portal to colorado: 53 tackles & 6 tackles for loss
dylan brown-turner, linebacker, transfer portal
tyler keltner, kicker, transfer portal
additional opt outs are expected for the bowl game
hard to imagine the seminoles moving the ball & scoring against the bulldogs with their depleted offense
and yeah the 2024 cal road game to tallahassee next fall is gonna be epic, r u gonna be there?

2024 acc scouting reports:
the smu mustangs (11-3) got forded 23-14 by the boston college eagles as the pony's starting qb1 preston stone dnp due to injury & his replacement qb2 kevin jennings had an abysmal qb rating of 30.4...the bears will be traveling to texas for this annual rivalry game in 2024, the gameplan to pound for ground behind cal's monster offensive line with heisman candidate jaydn ott will exploit the smu candy azz soft front 7 which gave up 262 rushing yards to a good not great boston college rushing attack
the rutgers scarlet knights weather channeled 31-24 the miami hurricanes (7-6) as the knights running back kyle monangai rushed 25 times for an explosive 163 yards...the hurricanes will be traveling to memorial stadium in 2024 & like the smu game the bears will be able to impose their will in relentlessly pounding the ball down miami's throats while controlling the time of possession battle...miami will be losing 2 elite safeties to the 2024 nfl draft & the front 7 not only got gouged on the ground but also had zero sacks today which is great news for biscayne bay native fernando mendoza
the oregon state beavers (8-5) got flooded at the dam 40-8 by the acc affiliated notre dame irish...but this wuz not the program that will bring all american running back damien martinez (dnp today due to a dui) & the wildly terrific improvisational quarterback gevani mccoy who will be bitterly coming to memorial stadium for pac 2 revenge/blood on september 28th for an unwisely scheduled game...like the two 2024 opponents referenced in the above post, the beavers wuz not strong today against the rush allowing the domers to grind for 236 yards on the ground...if u luv smashsmouth football, the 2024 california golden bears season is gonna be a lotta fun

hollywood, agreed that condi would be a remarkable candidate for both cal & ucla but the most obvious question to me is why wuzn't she stanford's 12th president when classics scholar dr richard saller wuz innagurated into office on october 16, 2023?
keep in mind that stanford's budget including its hospitals is currently larger than 13 states
the litmus test for me with respects to the next berkeley chancellor is whether or not they will expediently terminate knowlton which will likely result in a successor that will cut sport teams, reduce unnecessary bureaucratic bloat & balance the budget or will they follow in christ's footsteps in allowing the con artist to continue chartering his current course of direction in running cal's athletic department into the looming existential financial iceberg which will end cal's revenue sports as we know them...it's really this simple

econ, the noose around knowlton's career in berkeley is getting tighter & tighter
with adela de la torre no longer under consideration the monster's 100% support is for richard lyons, unlike knowlton he can read a complex financial statement & rightsize the budget to avoid the incoming existential financial icebergs that threaten all cal sports as we know them
and lyons is not a dumb azz, he knows that can't happen under the failed leadership of the con artistStudent-athletes in Cal's "Sports Tech: Entrepreneurship & The Future of Sports" — a Berkeley Changemaker course. https://t.co/2uk3LhyYcr @CalAthletics @UCBChangemaker

monster assessment of DEFENSIVE production ranking:
keonte kennedy: my favorite bear plays d with a magical spring in his step & a smile on his face while exhorting his teammates via clapping/shouting to raise their defensive games...nba level d iq facilitates his understanding passing lanes & moving thru (not around) screens while attacking the defensive boards with 100% energy..keonte is just FUN to watch
jaylon tyson: nba body but not a well rounded nba game at this time tyson competes for loose balls & is a physical presence on d...his poor passing decisions leading to turnovers & often dubious shot selection es no bueno but his defensive intensity is there due to his competitive nature
gus larson: yeah the walk on is one of the few bears that actually provides off ball defensive help when teammates are beaten off the dribble & plays with verticality in tryna prevent uncontested lay ups...this team is not gonna win more games until the d improves which means larson with his length has earned more minutes on the floor
vladmir pavlovich: a lockdown pesky d presence needs to improve his shooting mechanics to earn more minutes
rodney brown: plays d with enthusiasm with is surprising for a true freshman but terrible with off ball defensive help...could be an alan crabbe presence on d with his length
jalen celestine & devin askew: ok not great on d but got major upside when they become 100% healthy
monty bowser: lou richie's dragon got bounce but not much help on off ball defensive help
nd okafor: still reaching with his hands & fouling, the principal of verticality is gonna be his friend when he figures out how to play dominant d in the paint
jalen cone: gets bullied by opposing pgs on d & for such a talented athlete closes out shockingly slow on 3 pointers
fardaws aimaq: lacks lateral footspeed, gets burned multiple times every game by his opponent attacking the rim for uncontested buckets
grant newell: not really interested in playing d, last guy back in transition down the court
shut up, shocky (mr spieker not amused cuz he got worser seats)#

coastie, coach martin tole me his deal with our players (several of them mcdonalds all america during the cal's monster class era) wuz that is you played relentless nba level physical defense then he would let you improvise on offensive like they do in the nba without a lot of structure...and yeah that resulted in a lotta ugly azz offensive performances but the reality is that defense wins college basketball games & if ur a prospect that's wut gets your name called at the nba draftQuote:
Shocky do you think the issue is at all X's and O's related or is it just unwillingness to play a full 40? The team seems so mentally unwilling to commit for a full game. Devastating loss.
How did Cuonzo get that era of cal basketball to play a full 40?
gk, those guys played section 8 **** you up defense, the current guys play monterra middle school recess defenseQuote:
Cuonzo had better basketball players, who can shoot, run the court and defend for the most part. He also had Brown, Rabb, Bird who were 5 star players. He also had a serious shooter In Mathews who killed zone defenses.

wuz sitting in the 1st row behind the bears bench at santa barbara during the coach montgomery era when true freshman jabari bird got beat multiple times...monty pulled him out of the game & sat the bird on the bench...from a foot away i heard mike quietly tell jabari that until he learned how to play defense he could not play him anymore in close games...monty then patted jb on the knees & the bird put a towel over his head & i could hear him crying
and yeah the bird learned how to play elite defense & got his name called at the nba draft by the boston celtics
so no don't think this a x's and o's problem, guys who don't wanna play 40 minutes of hair on fire non stop motor d need to be benched...and that includes the last 3 names on the above list
