nevada's rb4/dt7 ashton hayes didn't get any carries (or a berkeley degree) against smu but moms is very proud of his stat line which included a fumble...likeable & hard working (but sadly not a great student) henry ikahihifo got into the action with 4 tackles including 2 for losses

why is there this horrible disconnect in marketing cal football/basketball tixs?

there wuz a focus group led by clueless vasileios iliopoulos with current haas biz ad undergrads who are predominantly from white & asian middle class plus socioeconomic families (whose parents PAY for their athletic student passes) who tole markeisa's non innovative team (she couldn't be bothered to actually attend these student meetings due to her surfing the web for retail shopping purchases & promoting her career on university paid time) that giving tixs FREE to students means they won't value the tixs which is 100% false as it ignores the simple truth that they are getting FREE tixs from their parents, they aren't really buying ****

Probably. But I do not think he has a tight grip on it. He will need to play well to keep it. I want whoever plays QB to play well and win. Who is really less important IMO. Just wanted the competition to be open and real. It seems that it has been. So regardless of who plays QB lets f...in go.

6956, there's no "probably" re: the staff's qb1 decision but chandler is gonna play & shocky is gonna lose his **** when rogers runs a speed option package & PITCHS the ball to jaydn ott in wide open space on the edge for an EPIC touchdown!!!

yeah shlocky will probably stroke out when the cannon on tightwad hill KABOOMS which from knowlton's myopic perspective will solve a lotta of his problems

Sure. It makes sense to start Mendoza since Rogers did not play well enough in camp to earn the starters job. But while you stroke out while Rogers picthes the ball to Ott who explodes for a big play, I will stroke out if Mendoza continues his turnover tendencies from last season. He had 10 ints and 9 fumbles (5 lost) in 8 games.

I am not sold on playing 2 guys over the course of the season. Unless it is due to injury. I want one guy to take the job and keep it with strong performance leading to wins. UCD game hopefully is not in doubt and both can get some snaps. But Auburn is a different animal. It will be hot and the crowd hostile. The edge athletes for Auburn will be athletic. Can the Cal OTs handle them well enough for either QB to perform well.

Mendoza gets the first shot at being the guy. But if he throws picks and fumbles again all his leadership etc goes away. It is about performance. I am not sold on Rogers either. But his history is better.

I actually like OCs that are professorial, that you can tell are super smart and creative, but are calm (often ex-QBs) and call plays from the press box.

Stoffel gives a good interview -- he's an articulate guy. Being hurt in the spring really set back his chances here. He also probably didn't count on Morrow improving so much, which is probably a bigger reason he's not looking at a starting gig at the moment.

I think there's a chance Stoffel won't help us much in his single season here, but there's also a chance he'll step in for someone and really save our assets. It's good to have an experienced guy on the bench that can play either tackle spot.

I hope Victor enjoys his time here -- I'll bet he will!

Actually it was Bloesch that got schooled by DeRuyter. Cal looked good early scoring 14 in the first quarter, but then once DeRuyter adjusted Cal had 3 goose eggs, with the Cal offense getting completely shutdown in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.

We had 178 yards in the 1st quarter, then 155 yards over the next 3 quarters combined. 4 Mendoza turnovers didn't help, but some of that has to be placed at the OC's feet. There was nothing he was doing that was not obvious and not eaten up by DeRuyter's defense.

disagree, deruyter schemed an attacking defensive gameplan (read my posts re: future nfl hall of fame coach marv lewis comments re: the wilcox era failure to run the ball wide or pass the ball over the middle 3rd of the field) with the successful violent outcome of nando entering concussion protocol plus broken bones...as we saw in the ucla game, **** up the opposing qb1 with david reese's cal's swarming african WiLD dogs defense & the bears win games, this **** is not that complicated, got it?

offense takes more time to scheme changes, bloesch inherited a predictable ineffectual spav/plough (very glad both r gone) low scoring ****show and did not have the necessary time to add wrinkles with the poor timing of the independence bowl during berkeley finals week...nando wuz preoccupied with haas biz ad finals, shocky can tell u that **** is no ******* academic joke


mike's creativity will be on display at 2:00 pm this saturday at memorial stadium, the rogers speed option (which cannot be implemented in 15 minutes) with PITCHES to jaydn, kadarius & THE JET!!!! on the edges in open space could result in shlocky stroking out or something...and wideouts actually blocking on the perimeter will be a revelation to keeping drives alive...you keep offering uniformed criticism of bloesch when in fact he's the staff's best development coach & the likely next head coach in berkeley before future head coaching in waiting mike saffell is ready to take over the program

It was revealed in one of the early practice interviews that Nando cracked his sternum in the first quarter of the bowl game. Not coincidentally, the offense sucked after that. Regardless, we will soon see if the Bloesch offense is an improvement over last year.

The ending of this game brought back a traumatic turned great memory for me. The last game I pitched (before a fun stint with Cal JVs) was a 1973 Pony tournament in Santa Clara. I came in to get the last out in a tie game. I was pretty jacked, two outs, runner on third. First pitch fastball and the kid bunted it out in front of the plate. I was not ready. Instead of just throwing to first, I tried to shovel it to my best friend, my future best man, a future SF Giant catcher. The shovel was high and late and we lost. I was crushed. I'm sure I cried. My dad was not that consoling but not harsh. Years later I still remember it but now I think of all these type memories as great. I was in the game! I still have contact with a lot of those guys. They probably don't remember it but they remember the team and the stories. I always have a good feeling about it. I have a good feeling about the long drive home. Pretty quiet but my dad was there and now he hasn't been since 1999. Whenever I coached I told kids that no matter what happened on the field they would have great memories of playing and doing their best.

I expect Bloesch to keep the playbook pretty closed unless we are down at half time against UC Davis. If we can't dominate UCD with vanilla play calling then we are in trouble. Save the trickeration and hole opening play calls for JOtt for Auburn.

Use this game to improve execution on WR screens which have been $#!+ for several years now.

bluehen, tend to agree with u but would still like to see a PITCHOUT or two run for 75+ yard rushing touchdowns & coach toler's room actually ******* block on the perimeter to generate more tix sales for the 2nd home game against san diego state...luv them former walks on trond grizzell & jack endries but the 1st time they actually knock somebody on their azzs in the run game will be a 1st

not a fan of the failed wr screens for 1 yard gains, would rather see downfield vertical passing in the middle 3rd of the field to elite SPEED guys tobias merriweather, kyion grayes, mikey matthews & corey dyches all of whom are coming from winning programs that demand bad azz blocking (unlike the cal program which just looks the other way when wideouts fail to block/usually not even making contact with opposing defensive backs with zero accountability until coach bloesch)
