I think I've figured out why Wilcox called runs plays (which didn't work) instead of passing plays to go win the game at the very end (which, when failed via another sack, would have taken us out of FG range).

It's because you didn't post enough objectifying pics of women to ensure a Monster OLine.

You should go back to your T&A booth called internet porn and draw up a better recruiting strategy.

Me? Id rather just pay the kids than try and lure them with some 6th grade "I've just entered puberty" scheme.

I have to admit I probably had USC as my first choice because of the cheerleaders I saw every week on tv. That and their toss sweep to the conveyor belt of tailbacks they churned out. Quite the scholar I was.

The skinny on Furd:

Offense:

Excellent WRs and a better than average TE. QB and oline are a disaster. The oline has been ineffective in the run game or protecting the passer. SeƱior players are not athletic and the athletic players are inexperienced and young. It is not clear how good the RBs are given the problems at Oline and QB. The QBs typically are the leading rushers.

The athletic 1st string QB Daniels projects as a decent ACC QB. Okay passer, good runner. He was beaten-up and injured vs Clemson (btw, Clemson beats Miami in the ACC championship game IMO). He missed games and probably wasn't ready tor Notre Dame, but tried to play anyway. The 2nd string QB is a transfer run first, second and third QB, and Furd becomes one-dimensional the wrong way given their WRs. They go stubborn with the run and it looks ugly with their weak line. Lot of o-lie penalties, etc. Not even sure who on their line would start for Cal. The third string QB, the future, star recruit Brown from venerable Mater Dei, was seriously injured (throwing hand injury) in their VA Tech game, his second injury in the season. A healthy Brown under Taylor's tutelage and a decent oline is a scary thought with their WRs. That appears to be a scenario that is at least a year away. With Daniels and Brown having injury issues, the QB spot is a disaster. With Daniels, they can move the ball, but the red zone offense is not good. The solid Cal defense should have their way with this unit.

Defense:

Is vastily improved, and it Furd had a decent offense, might be considered one of the better ACC defenses. There is some experience. They lack depth and simply get worn down if the offense is not sustaining drives (see Clemson, VA Tech and Notre Dame games). They have had a lot of terrible second halves. The Furdies are stout against the run at least for a few quarters, and proved somewhat vulnerable to over the top though long passes. Cal is a good match-up for this defense, as Cal doesn't have the kind of offense that sustains drives and wears teams down.

Special teams:

Solid. Their PK is accurate.

If Furd can keep the game close, Cal could Wilcox it and lose.

yeah the qb1 ****show is derailing the offense right now, sounds like brown won't be the guy until 2025 which means that stanford's offense might still be sputtering to successfully throw the ball downfield in this november's big game

isn't it kinda unbelievable that a world class ELITE academic institution like stanford don't go 3-4 deep with 4.0+ gpa quarterbacks??

in the monster's opinion that's a function of really ******* bad personnel/recruiting evaluations by former hc david shaw & his staff

hc troy taylor has done a solid job considering the university's admissions reluctance to accept transfers, we need stanford to be successful moving forward in that cal will realistically be following in their footsteps in the next round of conference musical chairs

Shaw had a succession of highly rated QBs, who had underwhelming careers at Furd. Two are NFL starters now, many others never saw the field. Some of this had to be on some bad o-line evaluations. Tanner McKee is a stud QB, but not being elusive, was constantly sacked or had his throws rushed. Hard to pass well when you spend so much time on your back.

Also go to some away games, like Furd/Clemson. Clemson is the most over the top college football experience I have seen - like the SEC on steroids. Then noise in Death Valley is deafening. You could tell the Furd players were just totally intimidated. At least with this Big Game, Furd brings a young team, other than for the defensive starters, which could be a factor when the success of this season likely will be measured on if they can take the Axe back. See how they operate under pressure

other than the collegiate world debut of eric zhou (a one under par 70) today's bears play wuz pretty uneventful & actually kinda disappointing

cal (-3) is tied for 5th in the weak azz field behind golfing powerhouses san diego (-12), pacific (-9), grand canyon (-8), california baptist (-8) & tied with washington state (-3)

no es bueno, es muy mal

wut happened?

stockton golf & country club is a a relatively straightforward classic design with short yardage (6,553 yards) & low course (71.8) & slope (132) ratings...it's NOT world class difficult like merion or oakmont so there's really no excuse for the 6 competing bears today to make a combined 19 sloppy azz bogeys

Shocks, the key to that^ pass to Endries: it was 1st and 10 and as the announcer says "a little misdirection" in the backfield, leaving Endries wide open for the TD.

As I have been saying for what seems like forever, just keep going with play action on first with Fernando throwing 20 yards or more down field to the TE or the WR on a post, or the RB underneath. Just keep doing that building a big lead until they expect it and start dropping guys into coverageā€¦. THEN run the ball as a counter. But we have to stick with the first part until it stops working (they start expecting it and stop jumping the run fake and instead drop LBs into coverage.
