pathological liar (the biggest whooper being his bald faced lie to carol christ that northwestern wuz gonna hire him as their athletic director) jim knowlton has been lying to everybody including mark madsen for years that shovels are gonna be in the ground soon for the critically needed basketball practice facility just north of haas pavilion
nothing has happened...NADA
meanwhile harvard prep (around the corner from shocky's beloved erewhon) is constructing a $200,000,000+ athletics facility in a timely manner just like my brah lou richie engineered the bishop o'dowd sparking new basketball facility just miles from the berkeley campus
california high schools are getting projects fundraised & constructed while the #1 ranked public university in the world got it's hoop dreamers sharing set practice times with intramural rec leagues because of the scarcity of available court time
As we geek out and leave the rest of the forum behind, it looks to me like Graves didn't move much earth at BO. I'm guessing that's because the property was fairly steep and there were erosion concerns (there's actually an old quarry up the hill from the course). I'm also guessing that because at least part of the property used to be an orchard, he didn't need to bring in topsoil to grow grass.
I enjoyed Rustic the one time I played it. If I ever get to go on a buddies trip again, we're going to Ventura, and will play Soule, Rustic and Olivas Links (I know Forrest Richardson from his renovation at Baylands, which is my home course.)
jeff, shocky is a big fan of forest richardson's wildly undulating greens with sideboards, backboards & trap doors at peacock gap plus he's a good guy...richardson lives in phoenix & designed for the trent jones (salespeople that do very little actual work in the field) firm legend trails which is quite good but unfortunately is an overbuilt housing development too close to the playing corridors
fun fact: forest's daughter haley lu richardson is a talented tv/movie actress!!
michael kim (69, tied for 27th): despite crooked azz driving (5 out of 14 fairways in regulation with hooked & pushed drives) michael is rolling the rock including from off the green like a boss man & maximized his round with zero bogeys...fun fact: on the 442 yard 18th hole kim blocked his drive way right but it bounced multiple times down the cart path which resulted in michael opting to play the ball off the cart path & flicking a chip shot close enough for a birdie
^ footage of chip shot on the 18th hole during the 1st round (shocky wuz standing next to this rando phone shooter)
I was in the right place at the right time Thursday when you hit this shot. Great shot! What wedge did you hit and what’s the best practice drill for a 4 handicap like myself who would like to really hone in his carry distances on his wedges? pic.twitter.com/UuNe5SlSW8
r the bears frail (usually INJURED) candy azz soft wideouts & tight ends gonna continue to just focus on catching vertical downfield strikes from devin & jaron or r they under the new leadership/change of direction of coach cefalo gonna ******* violently BLOCK like bad azz mother******* in the run game for jaydn & jaivian??
as a direct result of his 4.0 gpa wife's pathetic attempts to make shocky jealous by marrying & having babies with him, 2.76 gpa rickie has withdrawn from the 2025 phoenix open
Congratulations to Christen and Jared Goff, who will welcome their first baby this offseason! ur welcome jerry!!

guess wut alky?
shocky knows jerry from his marin community college baseball days & gets credit for telling the cal football coach (who wuz 100% unaware of jerry) at the time that there wuz a jc all league punter who averaged 44+ yards the prior season already enrolled at berkeley playing 3rd base for the bears...jerry punted for the bears the next season & his son followed in his footsteps to berkeley
the fact that u don't always get the monster's reference is ok, u didn't graduate from stinson beach high school like me, jerry & jared
ben an (68, tied for 16th): ben got rolling after a stuck in the mud front nine playing the his last 8 holes 4 under par...in the thin desert air an is pounding the **** outa his drives averaging 322 yards off the tee!!...highlight of the round wuz hitting it within a flagstick on the raucous stadium par 3 16th hole to the insane applause of the loudest crowds in professional golf & then draining the birdie putt!!
michael kim (69, tied for 27th): despite crooked azz driving (5 out of 14 fairways in regulation with hooked & pushed drives) michael is rolling the rock including from off the green like a boss man & maximized his round with zero bogeys...fun fact: on the 442 yard 18th hole kim blocked his drive way right but it bounced multiple times down the cart path which resulted in michael opting to play the ball off the cart path & flicking a chip shot close enough for a birdie
max homa (76, tied for 126th): maybe pressing with the hometown crowd behind him with overly aggressive irons & a cold putting day (only 51 feet in putts made) resulted in a unforgettable round...the good news is that max is starting to hit his cover fade drive again (a very solid & improving 10 out of 14 fairways) & the great news is that childhood friend/caddie joey greiner is back in action & on the bag (batman needs robin)!!
michael kim (63, tied for 2nd): for the 2nd day in a row michael only hit 5 of 14 fairways but his sharp iron play & world class putting/short game resulted in no bogeys again en route to birdieing 5 of the his last 6 holes, kim will be in the final group mañana here in the desert
shocky walked all 18 holes with michael on thursday coaching him up with verbal encouragement setting him up for today's EPIC round!!...fun fact: kim's thursday gallery for the round consisted of his moms & schulzie
ben an (70, tied for 34th): fun fact: ben's longest drive today wuz 359 yards!!
max homa (69, missed cut): it's very encouraging that max wuz 8th in the field in driving accuracy hitting 19 of the 28 fairways...gotta luv scottie
mb, shocky actually does have the current endowment figures for all cal sport teams
real facts: golf at $18,000,000+ (not including the tpc stonebrae $23,000,000+ practice facility/clubhouse which will be paid over 4 installments) got more money than football; baseball has almost used up all of its stu gordon fundraised "save baseball" money & rugby is not even close to the bear insider myth that it's "self-funded"...lance cooper got more money lost in his sofa than most of the cal olympic sport teams including women's field hockey
Honestly, they shouldn't even be trying to figure women's sports/title IX until the Government has it figured out.
So putting that aside for a second: based on Lyons saying all men's sports have to be endowed, what male sports do you think are in trouble?
mb, the crushing unprecedented financial debt being incurred by the athletic department needs to be addressed NOW:
cal currently operates 13 men's sports, the following teams will be retained:
1) football 2) men's basketball 3) men's golf (the most endowed program in berkeley including football) 4) men's tennis 5) men's swimming & diving 6) men's water polo
the following 7 teams will be cut/reclassified as club sports (with zero athletic dept funding)
1) baseball (41 counters): the stu gordon fundraising money is nearly all gone, evans diamonds will be repurposed for the greater good of the university with an internal accounting "sale" to the central campus 2) men's cross country (18 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, edwards field will be repurposed 3) men's gymnastics (21 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, sport cut 4) men's rowing (71 counters): will become a club sport, can still compete for championships 5) men's rugby (62 counters): will become a club sport, can still compete for championships 6) men's soccer (41 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, will become a club sport playing local schools 7) men's track & field (65 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, edwards field will be repurposed
this will create a reduction of 319 counters which is the key metric for title ix compliance
cal currently operates 15 women's sports, the following teams will be retained:
the following 6 sports will be cut/reclassified as club sports (with zero athletic dept funding):
1) women's cross country (14 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, edwards field will be repurposed 2) field hockey (26 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, will become a club sport 3) lacrosse (30 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, will become a club sport 4) women's track & field (51 counters): lack of donors/fan interest, edwards field will be repurposed 5) women's soccer (32 counters): lack of donors/fan interst, will become a club sport 6) women's rowing (60 counters): will become a club sport
this will create are a reduction of 233 counters which combined with the men's reduction of 319 counters will result in a total of 552 counters with all current scholly honored thru a berkeley degree/graduation
the athletic department will be operating 15 sport teams in compliance with the current ncca minimum of 15 sports program...the expectation for all teams will be to graduate 95% of their student athletes & compete for championships
the repurposing of evans diamond & edwards field via an internal "sale" to the central campus will allow for an accounting debt relief of the current hundred million dollars of athletic department debt that will never have future revenue streams for repayment
at that point there will be a corresponding streamlining/rightsizing of the current bloated/mismanged athletic department with more than half of the current bureaucracy released with a vast savings of salaries, benefits & retirement costs to the university
when chancellor lyons wuz promoted one of his 1st actions wuz commissioning a study of the athletic department, consultants are gonna bill him a $1,000,000+++ to tell him wut this monster post summarizes for FREE but that's just how non financially accountable organizations work that can't even figure out marketing 101's 1st step in building the brand/building a pipeline to future Builders of Berkeley would be to offer FREE tixs to all students for all football & basketball games which is beyond ******* obvious

Cal chancellor Rich Lyons on the athletic budget, the state of football, a super league, alumni engagement and the importance of investing in revenue sports
check out jon wilner's highly informative conversation with chancellor lyons, the CURRENT ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT ANNUAL DEFICIT is $66,900,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
quote from article: see below
What's more, the financial statement includes $37.2 million in direct support from central campus that's booked as revenue under NCAA reporting procedures. Without that assist, the operating budget would have shown a shortfall of $66.9 million.
yeah drove down the 101 from north scottsdale to tempe today at the speed of light to check out the softball team's 1st day out for the 2025 season
beautiful weather in the low 70s as asu's facility which is framed by palm trees shimmering in the outfield, during the 1st game warm ups the bears stood in front of the dugout standing on 10 paws yelling FUN cheers led by this year team's emotional leader kaylee pond who is 100 hundo the person you would want riding shotgun next to you on a cross country drive to every buc-ee's in this beautiful country!!
starting line ups: all american shortstop acacia anders is out with messed up ribs which resulted in potential all acc home run slugger elon butler moving from 2nd base to ss and impressive true freshman mia phillips (who runs the bases with the electric speed of desean jackson returning punts at memorial stadium) starting at 2nd base
pitching: this team's 2025 campaign is gonna be determined by the pitching, this team is gonna score a lotta runs & the defense is solid with closing speed in the outfield...anna reimers looks incredibly fit kinda like an olympics skiing cross country gold medalist from a nordic country & after that it's gonna be a wide open competition...annabel tepperson is the early leader for the #2 role pitching from ahead of the count most of the time, freshman miranda de nava notched 7 strikeouts in closing out the 1st game after a jittery welcome to d1 softball, ashanti mcdade brings heat (gotta work on throwing more strikes) & ryann orange got a high upside
home runs: this team will lead the acc & potentially even the nation in home runs, it's an exciting fireworks offense to watch led by hitting coach brandon telesco...lagi quiroga got elite bat speed & led off the 1st game with a high ball to left field that kept soaring over the fence, impressive true freshman mia phillips followed her with a drilled homer to left field & who wuz so pumped up she rounded the bases in around 10 seconds, my favorite player alyssa "the ponytail" herrera (her moms is a school teacher) did her patented happy dance after her dinger, team leader mika lee continues her remarkable ascent as an improving player every season & kaylee pond's pumped up kicks home run trot!!
3rd base coaching: coach chelsea spencer is a remarkable head coach that has built a family 1st culture of young ladies that are academically ambitious & that care about each other but at the same time chelsea is still running the bears outta innings with her reckless & unsuccessful decisions to advance runners including asking her catcher to steal & being thrown out by 5 feet...honestly she should consider coaching 1st base, her poor decisions (the bears needed runners not an extra base) coupled with some not clean fielding/ball handling (lack of awareness of a runner heading to home plate) & an miscalculated cut off relay throw to home plate wuz key factors in the 2nd game loss to maryland
randi roelling: the arrogant georgia transfer & her overly involved little league dad's departure is a loss in the talent department but a plus for this year's team chemistry...this is kinda like mendoza & his sorry azz dad, good luck with nando & roelling's kinda worthless degrees when competing with berkeley & stanford grads in the highly competitive global economy that favors the well educated when they are 30 years old
saturday's doubleheader: early morning game with utah to be followed by a rematch with maryland, shocky is gonna catch the utes game before departing to handle his coaching duties with michael kim at the phoenix open in the former bears quest to win his 2nd pga tournament title
as a direct result of his 4.0 gpa wife's pathetic attempts to make shocky jealous by marrying & having babies with him, 2.76 gpa rickie has withdrawn from the 2025 phoenix open
2026 4.0 gpa 6'5" 215 lbs apex predator edge defender kamron wilson from southridge high school (miami)#

michael kim (68, tied for 2nd): michael is the only player in the field without a bogey for the first 54 holes & is a perfect 13 of 13 in scrambling (getting up & down in 2 shots when missing a green)...michael got his high draw driver working now (thx to swing instructor sean foley) & hit 12 of 14 fairways today after hitting only 10 fairways total in his first 2 rounds)
the pga has changed the requirements for earning a 2026 pga tour card from past seasons 125 players to only the top 100 players in the 2025 standings so tomorrow is a golden opportunity for kim to solidify his status on the tour...michael will be playing in the 2nd to last group mañana

https://instagr.am/p/DB6n7B3t3-A chabba, it's no mystery that the cal athletic department's 2024 financial shortfall of $66,900,000+ is not only significantly worser than ucla (which be receiving full revenue shares from the big 10 moving forward) but with the current millions of dollars in increased travel costs for sport teams traveling to the east coast for acc competition, the heavily discounted acc revenue dollars vs the pac 12 & the upcoming house settlement $20,500,000 payments to student athletes the knowlton ****show's 2025 financial shortfall will be $100,000,000+ unless the bloated bureaucracy is downsized (i.e. cutting sports teams & "selling" evans diamond/edwards stadium to the central campus)
chancellor lyons is hoping that berkeley alums will participate in wut has been described to me as a "timeshare sales pitch" to donate to the current sports teams for 20 year operating costs endowments
there is ZERO chance this fundraising campaign is gonna generate the dollars to endow the coed quidditch team for the next 20 years
rich thinks he's got time to **** around with this pointless fundraising campaign when the reality is that the financial tsunami is heading towards berkeley right NOW!!

Just as UCLA's financial statement reflects as 'revenue' $30M in direct support from the institution's central fund, which you conveniently omitted in your zeal to paint Cal as worse off than its Southern branch baby brother. UCLA's athletic department has also run at a deficit for 6 consecutive years totaling a whopping $219M in existing red ink.
ucla operates 21 sports teams while cal operates 28 sports teams and westwood is gonna start receiving $65,000,000 to $75,000,000 from the big 10 while cal receives closer to $15,000,000 from the acc
bottom line, this upcoming year's financial deficit for the cal athletic department is projected to be $100,000,000+ for a 12 month period
berkeley is charting a course for bankruptcy with the imminent financial tsunami and then rich will be the chancellor whose legacy includes losing our status as the #1 ranked public university in the world
shoski got michael kim tomorrow in the final round of the 2025 phoenix open (IF current 5 stroke leader thomas detry tries to party tonite in old town, get's ****** up at toca madera's bar/lounge area which then results in him getting arrested by scottsdale police after taking lewd & lascivious fotos with a curvy brunette yoga female in the adjacent partially curtained selfie room & misses his morning tee time while getting bailed out or something)
51, a long time ago as the general manager of the cal basketball program in charge of gpas/academic achievement, recruiting, attendance/fan engagement, fundraising for the basketball practice facility & player development of yoga/ fashion shocky traveled to 100+ consecutive cal basketball games in a row (usually with his daughter taylor) in a time when multiple future nba ballers roamed the floor of haas pavilion on loud & electric gamedays
at the time shocky mistakenly thought it wuz all about our quest to win a national championship in berkeley but he can see clearly now that it really about all about the SPECIAL relationships that wuz forged along the way
cal's monster class (a dumb azz's love letter to the MAGIC of cal basketball)#
michael kim (67, tied for 2nd): playing in an electric frenzied atmosphere michael played a remarkable back nine with world class ball striking with 3 birdies & six pars that literally cinged the cup on putts/a chip shot!!...kim finished the week 1st in scrambling (up & down 15 outta 16 times) & 4th in green in regulation (56 outta 72 greens) which combined with his greatest strength of putting makes him a contender returning home (now qualified by virtue of his finish this week) to next week's pga tournament in san diego for the torrey pines high school grad
today's clutch finish is critical for michael's career: it enhances the probability of finishing in the top 100 this season & earning his pga tour card for 2026, qualifying for the next couple of signature pga tour events & probably an invitation to the 2025 pga championship major at quail hollow in may!!
