just like it's critical in college basketball recruiting for coaches to have strong relationships with key aau programs, in the tight knit high school kicking recruiting world it's very important for special teams coaches to have trusted relationships with longtime kicking programs

ryan longwell (who can't be bothered by prospects/their parents, his email is not listed in the staff directory) is perceived as unlikeable & "arrogant" by several of the top kicking gurus & it's affecting the bears ability to successfully recruit ELITE talent...and that's how cal ends up with multiple guys from the hammer kicking academy outta buffalo whose owner adam tanalski got zero regards for academic achievement (non nfl talent college kickers constantly transferring)...compounding the problem is the reality is that both wilcox (bizarro loyalty to 2 iron trajectory dario longhetto who would repeatedly kick line drives into the shoulder pads of his blockers & the failure to properly develop the huge upside michael luckhurst) & cherrington have a blind spot for the kicking game & have turned over the room to longwell with zero oversight (hopefully ron rivera brings some accountability to this situation which cost the bears 3-4 games last season)

and yeah longwell's reputation after running off mateen bhaghani took another hit after that unilateral bull**** move & his refusal to get involved when shocky brought forward bhaghani's parents concerns with their high gpa son's treatment...ryan wanted to bring in his guy ryan coe (a mentally agitated young man that lacks the ice in his veins ability to compete on big stages), a "big leg" kicker which became another bear insider premium myth just like wyking jones is a "good guy" & mark fox "has the trust of his players"
