Just rewatched 07 Oregon cal. Desean was surprisingly physical, especially second half. Blocking, contested catches.

But still, he had other strengths he could rely on most the time lol

It still saddens me to think about what could have been if Longshore had not been injured near the end of that game.

It was crazy seeing all those guys who would have long nfl careers on one team.

And when Oregon hit longshores ankle, it's crazy to think that basically killed tedford

Potentially two great teams derailed by Longshore injuries, because that 2005 team was also amazing if we didn't have to play Ayoob.

2007 could have been salvaged if he just played Riley instead of a clearly injured Longshore the rest of the way.
And the big "what could have been" for 2005 was if Rodgers knew the Niners weren't going to take him and he came back for his senior year with Marshawn as the starter at RB and a freshman Desean Jackson to haul on his bombs.

2007 would have been better with Riley starting, though our chances at winning the conference were probably gone.

^ when ur walking in stinky azz humid memphis in the summer u gotta keep ur cool!!

2025 pga tournament in memphis at tpc corporate center southwind: 2nd round update

collin morikawa (65, tied for 2nd): KABBBOOOOOOOMMMM, collin holed out a gap wedge from 135 yards (adjusted 127 yards) on the par 4 9th hole to the tucked far left pin position over the lake for an eagle 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes to hoist the trophy on sunday afternoon u need something special to happen earlier during this week, this shot may be the one that wins the 2025 shoneys open!!

strategic shotmaking discipline: in each of the first 2 rounds despite being in the go zone after solid drives in the fairway collin has opted to lay up on the perilous par 5 3rd hole with water looming on the right side of the shaved down embankment guarding the green instead of risking a fairway wood into a tight space...and yeah both times morikawa with ice in his veins (like ucla's mateen bhaghani) has drilled short irons with unreal precision tight for kick in birdie 4s

putting from off the green: collin knows how shocky hates his using the utility wood to putt from off the greens & apparently has gotten the ******* message...multiple times collin just used his putter like golfers have doing for say the last 300 years in the united kingdom to simply roll the ball up for easy tap in pars most notably on the brutal pin position par 3 4th hole...yeah haas biz ad grads like morikawa & schulzie r adapative (a quality that coach wilcox still hasn't demonstrated during his time in berkeley as a head coach)

stats don't lie: thru 2 rounds morikawa is 4th in driving accuracy (79%), 2nd in scrambling (getting up & down 11 outta 12 times) & 7th in putting (171 feet of made putts)

choking under pressure: 4 stroke leader in the tournament englishman tommy fleetwood is a very likeable guy but with that being said he's never won the pga tour during his career often playing too conservatively & squandering leads on the weekend...yeah there's a ******* california golden bear relentlessly stalking tommy!!

michael kim (72, tied for 65th): cause & effect: missing 12 fairways in 2 rounds off the tee into the punishing unyielding bermuda rough has resulted in missing 16 greens in regulation, no es bueno...michael gotta dial in his draw off the tee manana in the land of the delta blues

KEY POINTS re: the separation agreement between james knowlton and the regents of the university of california, berkeley campus as signed by chancellor richard k lyons

shocky is in possession of the 7 page 22 points separation agreement between both parties with the following bullet points:

point #2: separation date is july 1, 2025

point #5: buy out payments

"1.1 million dollars per year, prorated, from the Separation Date through May 1, 2029."

payments will be made in "substantially equally monthly installments during what would have been the remaining term of the Employee Contract had it not been terminated"

point #6 duty to mitigate (this point is truly funny): "Athletic Director agrees to take affirmative steps to mitigate University's obligations to pay liquidated damages...by making reasonable and diligent efforts to obtain athletically-related employment" which would reduce the buyout

bottom line, berkeley is gonna be paying knowlton $1,100,000 per year thru may of 2029 in addition to the almost $1,000,000 combined annual compensation for the current anti football/men's basketball agenda co-athletic director ****tards jay larson & jennifer simon-o'neil

big c, general knowlton wuz gifted a fantastic going away present from chancellor lyons with the only financial benefit to cal being that the annual payout is capped at jimmy's last salary of $1,100,000 instead of his escalating contract which would've paid out $1,300,000 in the final year of his contract in 2029

the good news is that if knowlton is offered an athletic director position by a sec school or becomes the head coach for the colorado springs rocky mountain chocolate factory's senior league hockey team then the berkeley future payouts will be reduced by that compensation!!

2025 pga tournament at tpc corporate center southwind: 3rd round update

collin morikawa (72, tied for 10th): collin wuz rolling along at 10 under par after draining a 25 foot birdie putt on the par 3 11th hole when there wuz a momentum buzz killing stoppage in play on the tee box of the toughest tee ball on the course for a fed ex memorial flyover for some dead white guy...when play resumed the freight plane loudly circled back during collin's backswing which along with a wind miscalculated sorry azz wipey cut resulted in losing his tee ball in the lake down the right side of the tricky short par 12th hole & a double bogey 6

and yeah collin's putting speed wuz off all day leaving putts short or losing it on the low side without holing speed, this **** can be fixed/figured out on the practice putting green mañana

michael kim (72, tied for 67th outta 69 players): michael got assessed a 2 stroke post round penalty after video evidence showed him taking an illegal drop on the par 3 14th hole after rinsing his tee ball by playing from a dropped ball on the marked red line (usga rules require "complete relief")...what*******ever, rules r for losers

Moreover, as I've been saying for years, that authoritarian coaching style might be tolerated in Texas and in parts of the South (and really not even there anymore as Harsin found out at Auburn) or even Boise, Idaho but is not going to work in California and Berkeley in 2025 in the Portal era. We already went through this with Mark Fox in basketball. It repels players.

We do have speed at WR, so it will be interesting to see if and how Harsin makes use of that (reverses, jet sweeps…) to complement his power running scheme.

Gonna be tough to replace those DBs we lost. Hopefully we MOSTLY replace them, then make up the difference (and more) in other position groups. That DB room needs to stay fairly healthy throughout the year.

Easy to see why the "pundits" aren't predicting us to do very well (they take fairly superficial looks).

They can't give us the benefit of the doubt without giving everyone else the benefit of the doubt too. Unlike us, they are not rooting for Cal and <hoping> we will be good. There is no objective reason to expect this will be Wilcox's breakout year more than any other coach, in fact probably less, hence our predicted ranking. We just need to hope it finally clicks for him in year 9 and we do or we quickly find someone who will in the limited time we have left.

2025 pga tournament at tpc corporate center southwind: 4th round update

collin morikawa (71, tied for 22nd): congrats on rolling in the near dead straight downhill 20 footer for a birdie 3 on the par 4 18th hole but overall a really unproductive day on the greens with misreads galore while stubbornly refusing to bring in new caddie mark urbanek for greens reading other than the 6th green...collin, it's not the brand new "wobbly" greens that's el problemo, it's ur guessing on the reads just like u did at oakmont, got it??

michael kim (67, tied for 59th): yeah making 80 feet in putts & getting up & down 6 outta 7 times is the pro move, michael is now #43 in the fed ex rankings & needs a strong tournament at the mediocre (very contrived artificial water hazards) fazio designed caves valley in maryland next week to move into the top 30 and advance to east lake

I thought you were complaining about his blocking, which Nebraska coaches and evaluation services praised from his tapes?

As you know, the first two years at Cal are the toughest, and he got through them and maintained eligibility (3.0+ by your previous post). But yes, after he entered the Portal (along with all our other offensive skill players after the new coaches were hired and their position coaches were fired), he chose Nebraska because he thinks it is his best path to the NFL not for the degree. He is probably hoping to enter the draft early. Cal needs players with NFL aspirations too.

calalum, would suggest reading the monster's posts more carefully, shocky has noted that hunter made the only memorable wide receiver block of the 2024 season in front of the cal bench at the auburn game...as for gpas, shocky edits "3.0+ gpas" to the actual gpas when players leave the program early without a berkeley degree...hunter's actual gpa at north salinas high school wuz a 2.8 gpa which made him an academic silver bullet admissions acceptee...the monster thread's last gpa update wuz recently on august 2nd

nyziah sat out his first season in berkeley while working to acclimate academically in berkeley & then bailed the following fall right after the final bears game...shocky spoke to nyziah after that game on the field during the big game celebration, he is very likable but wuz evasive when i asked him wut direction he wuz leaning towards in declaring a berkeley major which is a red flag that he wuz already academically checked out & gonzo

as a person of color u might be interested to know that nebraska gotta fraudulent "child, youth and family studies" major that the football program funnels a significant # of low gpa black young men into that lack academic ambition in order to keep them eligible (this **** is NOT acceptable to me or dr harry edwards who has been vocal re: the exploitation of black young men by college football factories like nebraska)...my source on this is a mega cornhuskers donor (his name rhymes with mellencamp) who regularly hosts me at the all world sand hills in mullen which is arguably the best golf course built in the world in the last 100 years

nyziah got a high college upside with his well constructed body & above average speed but lacks the hands of nfl wideouts or elite 4.35 40 speed

hunter's future with a kinda worthless nebraska degree will be maintenance supervisor at the steinbeck house in salinas & if he drops outta college early to chase a nfl dream then he's probably just looking at moving boxes & **** when buc-ee's hopefully expands to the monterey peninsula

california golden bears 1st scrimmage: saturday nite update

tryna prepare body clocks for the 7:30 pm kickoff in corvallis on saturday august 30th, the bears scrimmaged last nite under the lights at memorial stadium

as the monster has noted in previous posts a significant question that needs to be answered is if the program gotta running back with electric high end SPEED with the running back coach alienating both ott & the jet (and not bothering to build a relationship with moms javona) during spring ball

right now the leader for the rb1 position is utsa transfer 5'10" 220 lbs brandon high jr who got 3 years of remaining eligible

brandon is a soft spoken guy that sounds like he wanna fly under the radar and let his play do the talking, glad to hear the spring texas (outside dallas) loves the bay area cool weather & the local food options and most importantly the welcoming nature of his teammates (gotta give coach wilcox props for building the right culture in the locker room, now we just gotta win some ******* football games)

so the million dollar question is how fast is brandon??

in 2022 in texas high school track he ran a 10.67 100 meters which is moving but that's a few years ago...as a point of comparison the bears current rb2 5'11" 200 lbs kendrick raphael (north carolina transfer with 2 years of remaining eligibility) ran a 11.39 100 meters in high school track in naples florida

the video below from his freshman season shows a physical pounding runner with a low center of gravity kinda like barry sanders that can move the chains & convert short yardage 1st downs (which wuz a major problem last season for the bears) but probably not nfl prospect speed

https://instagr.am/p/DGbZt-cvfij
yeah the season opener is gonna reveal whether or not we're gonna be OFF TO THE RACES

rb2: kendrick raphael 5'11" 200 lbs (425 yards at north carolina state in 2024, 5.4 avg, 2 years of eligibility)
rb3: lj johnson 5'10" 215 lbs (303 yards at smu in 2024, 4.1 avg, 1 year of eligibility)
rb4: jamaal wiley 6' 220 lbs (18 yards on 6 carries while blue shirting at cal in 2024, 4 years of eligibility)
rb5: anthony league 6' 215 lbs (1546 yards at millikan high school in long beach in 2024, 4 years of eligibility)

Thanks in advance!

oso, the staff is gonna release the OFFICIAL depth chart sometime after next saturday's final scrimmage

the biggest surprise to the monster thus far in the 2 deeps is that the two safeties1 at this time are isaiah crosby (got roadrunner closing SPEED) and the rapid shocking development/emergence of freshman 4.0 gpa aiden manutai who along with his brah jaron has taken advantage of enrolling early in berkeley last spring from high school in hawaii to catapult up the depth chart

https://instagr.am/p/DLdVZ8ITbA_
both crosby & manutai are not tall in stature (sub 6') & still need to work harder in the s&c program to violently crash down in run game support but both will bring fearless instinctual high football iqs despite their collegiate inexperience plus elite ball tracking skillz to the back end!!

cal poly-berkeley=the 9th island=#1 ranked public university on planet earth

Speaking of lazy, they couldn't even use a picture of the current field design in the poster. That picture of the stadium is how it looked several years ago.

For what it's worth, I think the current design with the yellow end zones with the script "California" looks soooo much better than previous designs.

lololol I can't tell if you understand that these aren't posters from the Cal Ath. Dept. or Mktng.

So the simple solution is please make your own poster and post it widely.

That's what they are doing.

Oh, thanks for this info. I didn't realize it was not the Cal marketing department who made the poster. My apologies… didn't mean to offend anyone.

Props to the individual(s) who are taking it upon themselves to help promote Cal Football, but the fact that this effort is getting more recognition than any "official" effort by Cal Marketing might still prove the point I was trying to make about them being lazy.
